Can't get decent white balance

I shot some photos with my Canon EOS outside with the white balance set to 3200. The photos are, of course, blue. In iPhoto, using the slider, I can get almost perfectly corrected white balance with great skin tones. Bringing the photos into Aperture and using the white balance correction slider doesn't get me close to what iPhoto did. What's up with this?
RM

It’s a common problem. Usually because of PC monitors being back lit and often set very bright. So the representation on the PC will be different compared with on photo paper. Nice image by the way.
Most labs use the sRGB color space; so make sure you are saving your print copy with that profile. If you view your image on screen by getting down on your knees, and looking up at your monitor rather than from eye level, you will get an indication of how dark the image really is.
I always make separate copies for print with an overall levels adjustment and with sharpening as the final edit, based on each different print size. I would suggest for this image moving the middle pointer to 1.75 but you may need to experiment with different settings. Make a test batch and compare them when you get them back from Walmart to see which works best and use that in future.

  • HT201209 Can I get my iTunes balance back in credit or cash

Can I get my credit balance paid in cash or refunded to a gift card as it will not allow you to use your credit to part purchase accessories and takes the full amount off your credit card. Is there a way to get the monetary value back?

As far as I am aware no, you can only use your balance to buy items in the stores (iTunes, App Store, Mac App Store, ibookstore, but not the Apple online store), and that money can't be refunded or credited to a credit card.

  • Can I get the white shell case replaced?

I purchased the regular Macbook in 2010, and am wondering if it's possible to get the white shell case replaced?  It's been through some wear, and since my Macbook is working just fine (knock on wood) I would like to just clean up the case cosmetically.  Is this a possible option?  There is also a small crack coming from one of the corners of the touch pad that I don't believe is causing any problems, but is just a cosemtic issue with me.
Also - does anyone know where there are options to purchase a cover for this Macbook?  I haven't found anywhere that I can buy a cover for this Macbook, they're all for the newer ones.  I even checked Amazon and eBay.
    Thanks!

yes i got the phone through at&t and no we are calling them tomorow!

  • Can't get past white loading a screen after restoring from time machine backup

I am aware there are others threads of my problem however they date back years ago and after trying their solutions it still does not work.
After using Time Machine to restore my hard drive from a backup, I can't get past the white loading screen with apple logo after system restart during restore process. Ive gone into disk utility and repaired hard drive - it's fine. So I know this is a software glitch. I've also tried resetting SMC & PRAM (whatever those mean). No success and i cannot get past the white loading screen.
I'm running Mavericks (latest) on a late 2009 iMac. Thank you!

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Sounds like it could be a problem with the hard disk.
You can diagnose and perhaps repair the problem (if the hard disk still runs, but has errors) with these instructions:

  • Can't get decent prints

    Hello,
I print out many of my photos in 4x6 to give to relatives, or larger sizes to frame.  I'm usually not happy with the way they print.  I've tried printing at Walmart, Walgreens, RiteAid, and a local photo shop (these are about my only options where I live).  I have found that Walmart is by far the best, even much better than the local photo shop at about a third of the cost.  I ran one test last year where I had the same prints done at all four places, and Walmart was the only one that had rich colors as in the digital photos.  However, they often come out too dark to the point that they are unacceptable to me for framing purposes.
So how do these print shops do their printing?  Is there some algorithm they run through to adjust colors, brightness, etc?  Is there anything that can be done in PSE (I use version 10) to lighten up photos in a separate copy that would be used for printing only - i.e. I am happy with the digital copy, but would like to make a copy used for printing only that might offset some of the darkening done by the print shops.  Any other advice on how to get decent prints?
Below is one such photo that I like, but is too dark and not of the same quality when printed.  I usually apply several adjustments in PSE including shadows, highlights, midtones, levels, contrast, sharpening, and resizing to boost resolution to 300 without resampling,  The photo in the link is 800x600 pixels, although the ones I print are 4000x3000.
    Thanks.

  • Can't get past white start up screen

Last night my computer crashed, and displayed a blank white screen, so I held in the power on button to restart and after that I have been unable to get past the blank white screen after the apple logo appears. 10 minutes ago however after having the computer unplugged for two hours, I decided to try again, this time it managed to start up abielt slooooowly, but I managed to open up disk utility and use the first aid and repair hard disk and I had enough time to read that something was wrong with OSX and mounting, blah blah blah,  already my memory is getting blurry as it all happened so fast as it then crashed again. The last thing I remember downloading was firefox's latest update, has anyone any ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance

managed to begin restoring of the system through holding down the option button and using time capsule, the screen keeps flickering and if allowed to sleep crashes, this is now the third try, screen flickering and not able to read clearly how much time nor percentage done, seems to be something connected with display, or video drives maybe it is even the flash thing, as I vaguely remember udating adobe flash software also the day before I will keep posting

  • How can I get a white background?

Dowloaded trial version of 5 for Windows at work.....found Control L takes you to eyedropper that is white.
    Cool...
NOW: Have a MAC at home. Bought 4 today and I cannot find the above feature.
How can I (easily) get the eye dropper to be white not gray. or...does the Windows function Control L also exist in MAC but is a different shortcut?
    Thanks......loosing my mind

Barbara ~ Its sort of what I am trying to do. I make fused glass jewelry and am working in getting some clear shots for my website. Currently using an EZ photo cube which helps reduce shadows and better light for the novice. Having a white, or close as possible background helps the pieces pop a bit more and shows their true colors.
Due to the color shifts in dicroic glass, it can be really hard to get a good picture of what it really looks like.

  • Can't get sticky load balancing to work

I'm really puzzled why sticky LB is not working for a simple case I'm trying. I have two simple JSP's, both registered (see web.xml and ias-web.xml below). I'm using lite session and set distributable to false. Just in case someone can tell by just looking at my session id if it's supposed to be sticky or not, it looks like following -
    GXLiteSessionID-4818869464307751325
My two JSP's are also attached below, and they're pretty simple. A new session is supposed to be created in login page and clicking on the logout page invalidates the session.
What I see is that each request (whether login or logout) is randomly sent to any server. For example, if I go to login once, further request to login or logout (whether through refresh or by clicking on the link) is not necessarily sent to the same server.
Any idea what's missing in my setup? I've tried different types of load balancing (round robin, etc.) so I know that's not it.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi,
I think it's best to wait for sometime and check the behaviour of sticky load balancing for sometime, the reason being one or more of the following...
    - Although sticky feature ensures that the component is run at a single server, when combined with load balancing and under heavy user loads, the load balancing takes place.
    - If we rule out the previous case, then, the load balancing mechanism, especially, per component based or per server based, sends request by round robin technique initally(around 128 times or so) and then calculates the effeciency of the response time and then follows the per server based or per component based.
    - Meanwhile please ensure that, you have enabled the Sticky LB option under Application using iASAT and please wait for sometime sending requests(probably 130 times) after which it's good to check the mechanism of the sticky bit technique. If it doesn't behaves as it has to then, please let me know and I can help you further on this.
    Regards
    RG

  • Where can I get a white screen for I pod 4 touch near Dorchester,Uk.My i pod 4 screen has broken and am looking for a genuine screen for it.

I have an i pod touch 4 and the screen has broken due to being dropped.I am willing to repair it myself in order to keep the cost down. Now I am looking for a genuine screen for it and would like to know where to get it as cheap as possible.

    You're very welcome.
What seems to be unfair is I can buy that motherboard directly from HP in the USA as you saw, but for whatever reason you can't buy it directly from HP in the UK.
I still think you would be better off checking out what related notebooks may be for sale out there on eBay UK.
I buy all my PC's on eBay in used condition for great bargains. I do limit myself to the business PC's and notebooks that HP makes, however.
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • HT2589 We had an account that was housed on our old computer but it didn't make it onto the new one...how can I get the account balance and start using it?

We had an account that was housed on our old computer but it didn't make it to the  new one.  How can we find the balance and start using it again?

iTunes accounts are not located on your computer.  They are simply tied to a specific AppleID.  Just log in to iTunes with the correct AppleID and Password and you will be back in that account.

  • Can't get decent photos from new HP 6940 printer

Thanks to all for their patience with a total newbie. I have tried a search of the forum for the relevant info, but frankly don't even know enough to frame a decent query.
When my old Epson printer recently died, I bought an HP 6940 on recommendation of a salesman (mistake #1?). I have PSE v4.0, and had always gotten very nice prints from the Epson.
The results from the HP have been atrocious, both in color and B&W. Just no tone subtleties at all. The canned 'printer test' pages that come out are very nice, so I figure the machine is capable of decent results when properly set-up. The pull-down menu pick for Adobe printing cites a 1998 date!
Can anyone offer some color management pointers for adjusting within the HP driver software (is the proper term "color management"?)
    Thanks to all,
    Bill

Thanks, Barbara - I am using HP photo paper and the #99 cartridge.
The Epson printer driver did just great. With HP, there seems to be a tremendous bias toward yellow - skin looks jaundiced. Reducing yellow values even slightly, however, throws skin tones into a glowing and nuclear red.
This is a photo with huge dynamic range, admittedly: a flash picture of a child's face in a dark room. Attempts to render the somewhat "blown-out" face by 'selecting' the face and reducing its contrast and brightness with PSE throws it into unhealthy yellow.
It may just be that the range is too great for this modest printer. I should probably look around the 'Net for an HP printer discussion forum...
