Can't get email synced to iTouch

Here's a weird problem.
I have an iTouch that used to sync with my Yahoo email just fine. I recently wanted to delete a lot of emails, though, and decided to do so through my Apple MacBook Pro.
I accessed my email from the MacBook and deleted the emails. Ever since doing this, and here's the problem, my iTouch will not access my email. Nor will it successfully delete and re-add this email address.
I have not changed my address or password. I have not changed any settings on my iTouch. All I did was access email from a computer to delete some emails.
In order to restore the sync-ability, I have removed my email account from my iTouch and tried to reload numerous times with no success.
After I try to set up my email on my iTouch, I get the following message:
Yahoo! accuont verification failed.
The IMAP server "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.
Any ideas?

Try resetting the Yahoo password. That usually resolve that problem. Yahoo seems to have problems.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I can't get email application to open on my iPad!

I can't get email to open on my iPad, which I recently updated to 7.1. I've tried resetting and syncing, still doesn't work. The whole email app won't open, it just opens to white for a second and then returns to the home screen.

if you go into Preview Mode does the Mail app appear there?
Preview Mode: double click the Home button, you will see preview screens for each open app, with the app icon beneath the preview screen. You can scroll left and right.
If you see the Mail app - quit it by swiping from the preview screen (not the icon) up off the top of the screen. There must be not left-right movement when you swipe.
Quit all the open apps, then try resetting your iPad again.
Reset: hold both the Home button and the Power button down for approximately 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Let go promptly when the logo appears. Wait another 30 seconds for the iPad to restart itself.

I get "can't get email-fail to connect to server" msg constantly when I am connected and getting mail . Have to click ok.

this problem could probably be caused by a Firefox extension.
To make sure that no extension is causing the problems,
start Firefox in Safe Mode by following the instructions in the [[Safe Mode]] article.

Is this a POP account, or an IMAP account? Did you enable your account type in Gmail?
You can verify whether or not you did (and enable it if you didn't) by logging into Gmail on the web. Then, open the 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' tab on your 'Settings' page, and configure IMAP. After enabling IMAP in Gmail, make sure you click 'Save Changes' so Gmail can communicate with your mail client.

Go to Settings>Mail>Gmail>>Advanced. Do you have an an item for Deleted Messages Remove? What options are available.?
Also in Settings>Mail>Gmail does the Host Name for incoming server have a POP in it?

Instead I went to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tapped the Gmail account and found that the Mail button was switched off. Duh.

Originally we were getting the error that the phone could not connect. Then, after deleting the account multiple times and re-adding it again, the error message CHANGED to having to log in to Yahoo and authorize.
When we went to Yahoo in a regular browser and logged in there was an alert telling us about connection attempts so it disabled mobile/iphone connectivity. It required that we change our password FIRST.
Then, we went in to Manage Apps and Webpages and saw that iPhone was not there but Facebook was.
After all of this went back to the phone and deleted then re-added the account again and SUCCESS!
It now also shows up on the Yahoo Manage Apps and Webpages.

Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

Good afternoon. For over a week I can't get email on MY DASH. Can't see mail in my Gmail Viewer. Get a POP3 error ... can't connect to POP server. Thought it may be a Gmail interface issue so tried to get Hotmail and then Earthlink email in the Chumby email app. Both give same message POP3 Error , can't connect to pop3 server. I have done multiplr hard restarts / power off / "restore to normal operation" procedures. I have searched the discussions and community and can find no mention of POP server issues. Please help .... advise. I'm a disabled, but still working, senior citizen without a fancy, internet, cell phone and my Dash's ability to display my email is very important to me. I have the Dash at my bedside and My Dash allows me to see a message from a client before I would otherwise rise. Kind regards, Martin
