Can't get emails on my ipad

Very strange ...
One day, out of the blue, my ipad stopped receiving emails in one of the three accounts that I have configured in it.
Nothing had changed. It just said that either the user name or password were wrong.
I chanted my password, I updated it. Nothing. Or, better said, the same thing.
It is even more strange that my iphone, which is configured in exactly the same way as the ipad, does not have that problem.
I tried it with wifi, I tried it with 3g... Nothing.
And yes, the other two accounts work well.
Help?

It sounds like you have 1 account out of a few, that is not getting new emails correctly, but another device with the same account is working correctly. Given what you have already done, I would next close all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone then retest the Mail app and this account:

If the issue persists, I would next remove the account from your preferences, and re add it:
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Go to Settings>Mail>Gmail>>Advanced. Do you have an an item for Deleted Messages Remove? What options are available.?
Also in Settings>Mail>Gmail does the Host Name for incoming server have a POP in it?

I can't get email application to open on my iPad!

I can't get email to open on my iPad, which I recently updated to 7.1. I've tried resetting and syncing, still doesn't work. The whole email app won't open, it just opens to white for a second and then returns to the home screen.

if you go into Preview Mode does the Mail app appear there?
Preview Mode: double click the Home button, you will see preview screens for each open app, with the app icon beneath the preview screen. You can scroll left and right.
If you see the Mail app - quit it by swiping from the preview screen (not the icon) up off the top of the screen. There must be not left-right movement when you swipe.
Quit all the open apps, then try resetting your iPad again.
Reset: hold both the Home button and the Power button down for approximately 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Let go promptly when the logo appears. Wait another 30 seconds for the iPad to restart itself.

Did you check the outgoing mail server setting? Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)? That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both? Or more?
I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details. The BT email client set-up starts here.

this problem could probably be caused by a Firefox extension.
To make sure that no extension is causing the problems,
start Firefox in Safe Mode by following the instructions in the [[Safe Mode]] article.

My initial iPad account was on an a computer and an email I no longer have, plus I've forgotten that password. I've created a new iTunes account, (new computer, new email, etc.) but can not update my iPad, as it uses the old Apple ID.

Thanks - I tried to with my new Apple ID - as I had to update the software, although it warned me I'd lose content on my iPad. But I did the update, it took 30 minutes, but then did not work, as my iPad still has the older version of the software. What went wrong there?

Can't get email over wifi at home, but can at work.

Okay, I think this is a problem with settings on my time capsule, but I can't figure out what. On my iPhone 5 and wife's iPad I can get email over the cellular network and over wifi at work. I can't get email over wifi at home, get a can't connect to server error. Also had a friend, who uses the same ISP, try with his android phone - same error, but works over wifi at his house. Since I can get email over cellular and wifi at work, I'm fairly confident that I have the server settings correct. Any ideas?

Was facing a similar issue with my friend's iPad (Latest one). Forcing the DNS Server to 8.8.8.8 (I think Google's DNS servers) fixes this issue. I had faced something similar on my iMac a long time back. Something a little strange about how Apple products do a DNS lookup? Not sure if it is an issue with the response time of the DNS servers as well..
In any case, the good news was changing it to 8.8.8.8 worked.. Luckily the iPad's network configuration tool allows you to navigate to the pane where you can see the DHCP supplied IP addresses and just go to the DNS field, delete what was present there and force it to this address.
The difficulty in coming to this conclusion was the fact that the browser works fine for all the sites we had tried. It is mostly the apps that had trouble, and the App store also was inconsistent in reporting details..

Some POP email accounts don't allow multiple connections, you might be seeing some type of lockout.

I'd recommend restarting your iPhone. If you're still unable to proceed, I would recommend resetting the device.
