Can't get evilwm to run.. Need help

I am using selectwm to select my window manager after running startx at the command line.
I have installed the evilwm from core. And have added /usr/bin/evilwm to my .selectwmrc file.
When I run eveilwm, it crashes X and complains "can't find a font to use: try starting with -fn fontname".
It sounds like there may be a missing dependency in the evilwm package. Are others having this problem?

Got it.
The problem was that xorg didn't have the 75dpi or 100dpi fonts installed in /usr/share/fonts, the problem was quickly fixed by typing
pacman -S xorg-fonts-100dpi
for me (75dpi may be better for you, the value closer to the output of "xdpyinfo | grep resolution" is the one you want), killing x and starting it again with Evilwm as the manager.

Can't get WET200 to work -- need help

Here's what I've tried so far:
1. I set my Windows XP laptop's Local Area Connection TCP/IP to use IP address 192.168.1.220 (which is outside my router's dynamic range), subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and default gateway of 192.168.1.226. This allowed me to connect the WET200 to my laptop's ethernet port and get to the WET200's admin page by going to 192.168.1.226.
2. I left the WET200's basic settings alone, except I changed the gateway to 192.168.1.1 (my router's IP address) and clicked Save. Btw, my router is the Actiontec MI424WR that they give you for Verizon FIOS.
3. I clicked on the Site Survey, selected my network, entered my router's WEP passphrase, generated the keys, and saved the settings.
4. I unplugged the Ethernet cable from my laptop, then unplugged the router's power cord, waited 30 seconds, and plugged it back in.
5. I set my Windows XP laptop's Local Area Connection TCP/IP setting back to "Obtain an IP address automatically"
6. I then plugged the Ethernet cable back into my laptop.
At this point, I was expecting my laptop's Local Area Connection to obtain an IP address and be able to connect to the Internet, but it times out and cannot get an IP address, which means I can't connect to the internet.
What did I do wrong, or what else do I need to do to get this working?
Keep in mind I'm a home user, not an IT admin, so please don't assume I have any networking knowledge when you reply.

How can I get Snow Leopard running

I have a 13'' Macbook that was running perfectly fine - I haven't had one issue since I bought it. I bought the iphone 5 and needed to upgrade my itunes to version 7. I was running Leopard 10.5.8 and needed to upgrade my OS to Snow Leopard in order to get itunes. I ordered the software (10.6.3) and installed it on my computer. The installation said it was successful. I restarted my computer but I received a blinking folder with a question mark on it so I googled some solutions to see what could have gone wrong because the installation was successful.
I have tried holding c, option, resetting the pram, disconnecting my battery and pressing the power button for 5 seconds, erasing my HD drive, restoring the HD drive with a Time Machine Backup, and everything else I was told to do but I can not get my computer up and running. If I restart it, I keep receiving the blinking folder with the question mark. I'm not sure how it can not recognize a OS when I go to Startup Disk, it lists my OS being 10.6.3. When I boot the computer from the dvd, it just continues to ask me to install the software each time and I'm going in circles.
Can someone please tell me what to do? It seems that Apple doesn't know what to do, my hard drive was repaired (it wasn't broken), and the installation is going through sucessfully, why can't I get my computer running?
HELP! I'm a photographer and graphic designer and can't afford to be out of commission. All I did was install a software, this shouldn't be this difficult.

Can't get Videos to run on the Internet

Can't get Videos to run on the Internet. Clicked to watch a video and nothing happened. Sales person in Apple store said to get "Flip4Mac", free edition, which is what they used in store as the files on this site and in Windows Media. I downloaded it and I think I installed it. At least it said is was installed and updated. But when I went to my Son's favorite website, Nascar.com, when he clicked on a video to watch nothing happened. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

First off, I'll list all the items that I use to play, just about, all media on the web:
Flip4Mac
(as you might have found out, Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported)
VLC
Real Player
Perian
Adobe Flash
Streamclip
All that being said, there is still some unplayable A/V content on the web. Even though it's listed as WMV, they are really processed with a codec that is underneath that wrapper, and unsupported by any of the above listed apps and plug ins. If any content like this is found on a high profile site, and is in wmv format, then the Flip4Mac people request to be told, so they can see if compatibility can be written in on their next update.
Generally, video playback on a Mac can be somewhat complex. Would be nice if everyone used Quicktime, but I don't see that happening on the PC end of things anytime soon. So, we'll all just have to use what we can to view content.
RE: learning Leopard....there are some tutorials on the Apple support site, but I've always found the suppot discussions to be pretty helpful. I've never been one to get a lot from manuals. Mostly, I get my knowledge from working with the apps I need, and getting advise from others who have done whatever. Occasionally, there's a class at the college that you might look into. Do what you are being told. Plug the phone into a computer running iTunes and restore the phone.

But after numerous attempts I still can't get it to boot either from the HD or DVD drive. I just get the white screen after the wheel stops spinning. I can't get it to run Hardware Test - just get the white screen. If I use Disk Utility via my MBP it says the disk appears OK. All the Snow Leopad files appear to have been installed. What can I do?

Perhaps you installed the wrong version OS X onto the iMac, you can't use the disk from another Mac.
clean the disk.
If it's not working then use this method to create a bootable 10.6 USB from the iMac machine specific 10.6 disk or the 10.6.3 retail disk on your other Mac, use it to boot the iMac with.

New-Asset Report - awesome, but can't get it to run?

Howdy - I am trying to run the awesome new-asset report that Zachary Loeber shared with the technet community.

However I can't get it to run against 1 server or multiple servers.
I followed this information someone else asked and I get back many errors, all related to the parameters.
Can someone help me out with this?
A. Should this be saved as a function? And then I've read conflicting or maybe different ways to run a function. Should I do import-module or just run the script as a single command line, and I've had this issue with other functions. Should they
be put in a specific location on my system? I'm newbie, so thanks for the help!
B. When I run this, I've tried using this simple command: .\New-AssetReport.ps1 -Computers testserver1.domain.local -PromptForCredentials -Verbose
C. Then I tried this example as well from a single line or creating another ps1 script, fails either way.
D. What variables are required to be filled in, and what parameters are available such as report type, include memory, but not disk, etc?
Here's the error if I enter the command like this: .\New-AssetReport.ps1 -Computers testserver1 -PromptForCredentials -Verbose

Issue with Illustrator CS6 - can't get it to run

Since a couple of weeks ago, I have an issue with Illustrator CS6 - can't get it to run When starting the application I get the following error:
"The procedure entry point ?AcquireVarient@ImageInterface@drawbot@dvaui@@QBE?BV?$intrusive_ptr@UImageInterface@drawb ot@dvaui@@@boost@@V?$rational@J@5@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Program Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe."
I'm running it on Windows 8 (x64). I have multiple other Adobe applications installed, which are running fine. I've tried solving the issue with reinstalling Illustrator - multiple times. My GPU driver is updated to the latest version.

I have this issue as well on my Mac and called tech support 4 times and they can't fix it. Adobe has really gone down hill in a short amount of time!!
Only thing that worked (as a temporary fix) is to create a new user and toggle back and forth between two users which is very annoying. Adobe has tried uninstalling, reinstalling, taking over my computer remotely, trashing plugins, verifying permissions but the fact remains that we bought CS6 four weeks ago and Illustrator doesn't work.
I'm going on Facebook to let others know.....don't buy Adobe, it doesn't work and they don't know how to fix.

The voicemail system used for the iPhone is different from the voicemail system used on the rest of the Verizon Wireless network. When you activate the iPhone, you lose your saved voicemails from the other system. When you activate a non-iphone, you lose any saved voicemails from the iPhone voicemail system too.

Are you using a Mini DisplayPort or a Mini-DVI adapter on your MacBook? What input are you using on the TV, VGA, DVI, Composite, Component or HDMI?
Also it would help to know which one of the 21 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
And the make and model of your TV.

This problem sounds like a missed target and too many files: user meant to drag and drop files to the WD My Passport icon on the Desktop but dropped files on the Desktop instead. If so, there could be thousands of files on the Desktop; Finder is trying to create icons for every dropped file--and one day Finder might finish--but the Mac is essentially stuck till those files leave the Desktop.
Various solutions exist, with increasing levels of difficulty:
1. In Finder, hit Cmd-N to open a "list" display window of the Desktop, then move files from this window to a new folder--or, as others advise, Cmd-drag files to the WD My Passport (easy, but given the bogged-down system, probably not an option).
2. From the Finder menu, Go > Desktop to get to a "list" display rather than an "icon" display window, followed by drag/drop clean-up to a new folder or Cmd-drag files to the WD (again, easy, but also perhaps not possible).
3. Start in Safe Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564) and then move the excess Desktop files to a new folder or Cmd-drag files to the WD. (Safe Mode loads only essential graphics routines, so the Finder may be more snappy even with an overloaded Desktop).
4. Boot from the installation DVD and then navigate to the overloaded Desktop to move the photo files to a new folder or Cmd-drag to the WD.
5. Use a second Mac to connect in Target Disk Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/ph3838) to clean up the messy Desktop.
6. Use Terminal and unix commands to clean the Desktop. Try the easy ways first.
