Can't get guitar connected to Garageband (iMic)

Hi,
I've tried connecting both my Strat, and my electro acoustic guitars to my mac for use in GB. I have an iMic device and use a mini jack to plug in my guitar lead into the iMic.
I've chosen all the correct input and output options in Sound Prefs and Audio Midi, but I just can't hear the guitar back through my headphones.
I know that the cable and the mini jack is fine, so maybe there's something wrong with the iMic, although it's hardly been used in this way so I'd be surprised if it's broken. Is there some other way I could test the iMic?
Other than that, what could I be doing wrong?

You need to choose the imic in garageband > preferences > audio midi for input. Set output to whatever you have speakers or headphones are connected to. Create a real instrument or guitar track. Then choose the correct channel input in track info (channel 1 or channel 2 mono) and make sure track is record enabled.

Imac i5 late 2009 running OS X 10.8.4 and can't get FireWire connection to work

I have Imac i5 late 2009 running OS X 10.8.4 and can't get FireWire connection to work with LaCie external drive. I have gone through older posts and tried with no luck power cable and holding down start button for 15 seconds and restoring power and also removing power cable waitng 10 minutes replugging power cable holding down alt command P, R keys until second beep is heard. I know that LaCie drive and cable are working, they were connnected to another iMac without issues. What options do I have left to get FireWire to work? The System Report just says
FireWire Bus:
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec.

I did not mention in original post that when initially connected to the Firewire port the LaCie drive I can hear activity so the drive is getting power. Does this mean the Firewire port may not be physically damamged and there may be options for resetting? Are there any 3rd party software repair programs worth buying for diagnostics and repair of the FireWire port?

I have the M-Audio 1 n 1 interface and yes the Instrument panel shows up when I open garageband but i can't get audio to play outboard i see the indicators light up and the volume pids moving but no sound i can hear

Please do the following.

#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box''). 
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier. 
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation. 
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those where necessary.

Can not get mail, connection to the server failed

have been recieving/using work emails and calender via exchange for years but as of this week i have lost access all i keep getting is 'can not get mail, connection to server failed. i have change password but still not working any advise PLEASE..

Hmmm. I've seen that message before, I usually just continue with the account and save it, then power off /on the phone. It usually works after that.
Has anything change with your account?

I can't get the connect to work after base installion.

Hello, everyone, I am new to Arch Linux.
I follow the installation guide install Arch Linux, Everything run pretty smooth, except at the part when I need to choose the package, I am not so sure what I am doing. So I choose everything except for the thing that I am sure I would never need.
When the installation is complete, I try to go to the next setup which update my system, but some how, I can't get the connection working, switch mean, I couldn't do anything beyond that. (both wireless and wired network, BTW I am using DSL and I do try the adsl thing)
Every thing seem make sense to me during the installation, but I just can't get the network connection working.
BTW: my laptop is a Toshiba portege M100.
Any idea?

Try typing in:
dhcpcd eth0 (or whatever interface you are using)
and hit enter, I had the same type of problem and this woke up my network connection.
Edit: Also, once you gain your connection up and running, you might want to install ifplugd. It is a daemon which will automatically configure your Ethernet device when a cable is plugged in and automatically unconfigure it if the cable is pulled, which is good for laptops. Once installed make sure you put it in /etc/rc.conf under the DAEMONS section.

Basically the message is saying the phone can't talk to the place where your email is stored for some reason. This could be an incorrect username/password, or some other issues. Follow the steps in this article and see if they help:

Can't get a signal into garageband using firewire interface? Help

Hi, I'm using a presonus fire studio mobile with a shure sm 57 connected into my mic input 1. The interface is correctly receiving the signal however when I choose the input in garageband i can't get anything. I tried all the input options (mono and stereo) but still nothing. I don't understand why.

Does your interface have a software program that supports it? For example: Apogee has Maestro.
Is the mic a phantom mic? Perhaps tha phantom feature has not been engaged?
Did you double check the audio settings in the Garage Band>Preferences>Audio section?
Another trick might be to restart Garage Band AND/OR restart the machine with the interface connected.
Double check you input settings (ie, Line 1 or Line 2 or Stereo). Make sure the monitor is set to the "on" position. Click the grid icon next to the "monitor on/off" setting and double check your connections.

The imac gets on fine, and the gateway gets on if we simply plug the modem into the computer, but nothing wirelessly. It's works for her at her job, it works in coffee shops. Her tech person told her it's equiped to work at home with adding any software, but we get nothing. Something we're supposed to tweak?

Hi Jo,
Each router is a little different but here are the basics: login to the router using the administrator account, should have that info from the installer, and then you should find something like security settings, or it may be advanced security. There will be a setting to the effect of limiting access, or it may say allow Mac address authentication, or admit the Mac addresses in the table...if that is switched on, you can just switch it off and that will allow any wireless device to attach. If you want to keep it on, then you have to enter the Mac address for the device you want to use for access. In the case of the iPad, go to Settings > General > About > WiFi Address (another way of saying Mac address). Enter that very long sequence in the router's Mac address acceptance table and that should take care of things.
Using the Mac address does not change any of the email settings, just limits attaching to the router in the first place.
If you are already getting email, you must be attaching already so this should not be an issue. If you are having email issues, such as receive but not send, you may not have the outgoing server set correctly: Settings > Mail > Account > Outgoing server name (usually an SMTP server) and you may have to go to the advanced settings to enter the outgoing password (normally the same as the account/incoming password) and then check to see if SSL is ON or OFF...most common email services say to set to OFF.

BroadXent DSL Router to older AEBS - can't get multiple connections

Router is "auto detection" half or full bridge mode, direct ethernet cable to older "mushroom" AEBS. For some reason, can only get one wireless connection at a time. Have to shut down connected machine before can get connection to another. Not unusual that I have to cycle power on modem and AEBS to get new connection. This is a recent problem. I had a LinkSys BRFSR81 router (which died today) between the modem and AEBS and had no problem w/multiple wireless machines at the same time. Likewise, tried to temporarily use a Netgear 4 port switch in place of the linksys router, and can only get one hardwired internet connection at a time. (Modem=> LinkSys 8 port, 5 ports ethernet to various macines, one port to AEBS to 4-5 laptops - worked out well, everyone got connectivity) What am I missing? Help please!! - family is all over me about no connectivity!

BUT, I set the AEBS to PPPoe rather than DHCP.
Rebooted the Westell, powered up the AEBS...Good to Go!

Can't get db connected PHP pages to work

I have a few sites that are PHP and MySQL. Some of the pages are simply static content, but have the suffix of PHP, so don't need to call content from a database. Other pages that have database served content are not displaying, and also, I am not getting any error messages to help.
Ordianrliy, I develop with ASP, so I have used the IIS-AID installer which installs PHP inside the IIS rather than under apache. I did have my PC set up in the same way previously, but unfortunately, my disk died and I have had to start from scratch and now can't get DB content pages to display.
I have ran the <?php phpinfo(); ?> and I am getting the php details page as proof that php is working.
I have the Server name, DB names, username and password correct in the connections file.
I have just tried double clicking the database in the DW Databases panel and tested the connection there, and I got this message:
"Your PHP server doesn't have the MySQL module loaded or you can't use the mysql_(p)connect functions."
I have no idea what that means, so would appreciate your advice on this.

Probably MySQL is not installed?
