Can't get home videos imported into iTunes?

iTunes will let me import videos but then they are not there? And ideas on how to help? Thanks

The music sync is ONE WAY - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. You can transfer itunes purchases only: Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
The ipod will sync with ONE computer only. When you sync to another, it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
You should move everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to your new one.
The ipod touch is not a storage device or backup device. It is intended to mirror the selected content of your computer.

  • Can i get my ipod information into itunes?

so everything was going great until one day i opened up itunes and my entire library was gone! so then i plugged in my ipod, which still had all my songs and playlists and whatnot on it, and it said that my ipod was connected to another ituned, but it isnt...so im thinking that maybe i need to find a way to get everything from my ipod itunes.
otherwise id really like to know where all my music went missing...

First, try Importing Your playlist (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763)
Your Playlist should be in the My Music folder.
If that doesn't work, you can get all your iPod music into iTunes with this procedure:

  • Can't sync home videos to iPad "itunes 11"

Since updating to iTunes 11 I can't sync any of my home videos from my Win 7 PC to my iPad 3.
    1. I created them as MP4's.
    2. They import to iTunes music folder fine.
    3. They show in iTunes under home videos.
    4. No error during or after sync, but the videos are not there on the iPad. Videos I put on the iPad before iTunes 11 are there (under movies, not home video) and play fine. But if I delete it from the iPad and then try to put it back it is ignored and will not go back onto the iPad.
This worked fine before iTunes 11.
    Mark

I also found, finally, that selecting "manually manage" for the device on the summary page in iTunes for the helped.

  • IPod shuffle  recognized by iTunes but can't get downloaded audio courses into iTunes and onto shuffle.

When iPod shuffle is plugged in and I go to Computer, it doesn't always show up, so maybe there is a loose connection. I jiggle it and try different things and it shows up temporarily then goes again. But the biggest problem is that I get a message saying  Please Insert a Disk into Removable Disk (E:)  Also, I am trying to download audio courses I bought into iTunes then onto iPod. Never had this problem before. Have downloaded with no trouble before..

I can't help with the connection issues, because that sounds like a hardware problem.
    For the iTunes-related problem
    Never had this problem before.
that sounds like it may be not seeing the sidebar (along left side of window), because the latest iTunes hides the sidebar initially.  To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the sidebar visible, iTunes (mostly) works like it did before version 11.x.  Hopefully, you'll see what you need to do...

  • A80: I can't get s-video-cableit into the notebook

    hi everybody,
i want to connect my A80 to my tv and got a s-video-cable. i can't get it into the notebook. it's not the cable, i tried it on something else. is there any trick or is it a hardware problem?
and yes, the notebook has an s-video-output...but the cable just doesn't fit in

    Hi
I dont know what the problem is. Its a clear case. This unit has a S-video out port and if you want to connect the notebook to TV you have to use the compatible cable.
In my opinion you use a wrong cable.

  • Can't Get External music back into itunes with song rankings

For various reasons my wondows PC crashed and I've had to clear out various drives.
No problem I thought, because I regularly back-up my 10,000 plus songs on an external hard drive.
Problem is that when I connect it to the PC and try to copy the songs into itunes I do not get my song rankings appearing any more, I just get the other ID3 tags details. Where are they stored and can I find them again ?
    Also,
all the while the external HD is attached and I've copied some folders into itunes, all appears fine with the songs showing and playing, but when I disconnect the song still appears in my open version of itunes but then no longer plays and says it can't find the song ?
Help ! I don't want to rank all 10,000 songs again and I want the songs all back on my PC.
I could use my 60 Gig ipod to reload the PC but I only have about 80% of all the music files I own, so the obvious choice is the other external drive with everything from my PC on it. Can you help me please ?

luckily that is also backed up on the external drive too so I'll try looking there, but do you have any thoughts on why I can't get the backed up files to stay on the PC correctly ? because until they are back on my PC I can't use it or get the rankings back right?

  • How can I get songs from iPhone into iTunes

okay so on my old computer (and on my iphone now) i had/have around 1000 songs in my itunes from various websites, around half of these are free downloads of independant artists and things like that, so not purchased in itunes. the other half i did purchase. my old computer broke, so i can't get to any of the non purchased songs, besides from my phone. i transferred all my purchases into my new computers itunes so around 450 of my songs i can access, but the rest are only on my phone. itunes keeps prompting me to erase and sync but that would get rid of all the non purchased songs on my phone so they would basically be lost forever, right? i know they want me to do that to protect against illegal downloads and things like that but this stuff isn't downloaded illegally! is there anything i can do to get my music on this computer or am i basically screwed? also i've tried downloading a few free tracks from various websites (again, legally)... they are showing up in my itunes library but every time i try to drag them onto my phone it doesn't work. my computer is authorized and i've tried everyhting else i can think of... can anyone help? i have windows 8 and my itunes and iOS are both updated fully, if that makes any difference. thanks!

The iphone//ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases.
There is no free, or Apple supported,  way to extract any other music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
Iphone sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with the content of the new computer.

  • How can I get my music back into iTunes after erasing my disk?

I had to reinstall Windows XP, erasing everything on the hard disk. I had saved the music files with backup software, so I now have them back. But iTunes won't add them to my library. I tried importing songs from a new CD to see where iTunes put those files, and then copying an album folder into the same location. But Windows wouldn't copy the files inside the foder. Nearly all the songs were originally taken from CDs in my collection, and the songs are still on my iPod Nano.

    Wow,
Wonder why XP won't let you copy files?, perhaps you used a different user name?
Or these are the old DRM versions of the songs? You should be able to log into your iTunes account and authorize the computer and iTunes should recognize the songs.
Well since you have the iPod Nano, you can head over to iLounge and ask them what current third party software works to move your iPod Nano music back to iTunes.
Hope that works out for you

  • Can't get dvd to import into imovie?  Any suggestions?

I have my sister's wedding that a friend took for me on his camcorder, and burned to a dvd for me. But when I put the dvd in I am unable to save or anything and when I go to imovie and try to import it the best I get is files unrecognizable, but I'm not even sure I'm picking the right files. . .video is in NTSC. Any suggestions? Thanks!

DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing... so, any conversion process will add a (dramatic) loss in picture quality.
for usage in iLife, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    VisualHub (23.32$)
Drop2DV (free, requires installation of ffmpeg parts, google for it...)
Toast 6/7/8/9 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
    old apps:
    Cinematize >60$
    Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in

  • Can't get music off ipod into itunes

I have an ipod touch that will not transfer songs onto itunes on new computer. I added the computer to the network so that's not the problem. I have tried "tranfer purchases", and only some of them are added to my itunes library. I have other music on my computer that I want to add to my ipod, but it keeps telling me that it will only erase everything on it and then add my itunes library. I don't want to loose everything that's on it, since it will only partially transfer the music.
Does this description of my problem make sense?
I'm hoping someone can help me!!

  • Can't get any videos into itunes

I have a few that were already there, but I have some new shows I have converted to Mp4 and I can't get them to import into iTunes. Any idea why they won't import?
    Jason

I'm having the same problem. I've got 2 test videos: 1 from handbrake using the iPhone settings and the other is a quick movie recorded in iMovie and exported to iPod.
When I try to drag them into iTunes the cursor changed to the green "+" but nothing happens. I've also tried going through File>Add to Library... with similar the same lack of result.
    iTunes is 7.4.2 freshly re-installed.

  • Can't get MP4 Video to import

These are the specs on a video file on my computer recorded off of a JVC GY-HM 100U. I can't get it to import into FCPX, and it wont' import into Compressor.
What is apple's official stance on what to do with these files?
What is the easiest way to get this into FCPX? Is there any way of doing this without having to use a third party program? I find it insane that a professional editing system such as FCPX and Compressor would not be enough to handle a file as common as an MP4.
(ps i'm well aware that the JVC camera is capable of recording the file as a .MOV, but i wasn't the one who shot the footage).

I looked at FCPX's manual online and it states...
If you’re importing video clips from a still camera or other flash memory device, make sure the file format of your video is MPEG-2, MPEG-4, or AVCHD, all of which are compatible with Final Cut Pro.
...So it says MPEG-2 AND MPEG-4 are acceptable formats. So why is this still not working?

  • Putting video files into itunes

I've tried again and again, but I cannot get my video files into itunes.
It wont work with my .avi files, my .wmv ones or anything apart from MPEGs.
If someone knows of some way I can convert my files into a compatible one, or any other options available to me?
    Nick

iTunes (or Quicktime) doesn't play back avi's by default. There are some workarounds, which may or may not work (I have mixed experiences).
First of all, install Perian for Quicktime. This allows you to play most video&audio formats which QT doesn't play by default (except windows media & real media).
From here you have 3 options:
    1. Install Xcode. Then, in terminal do this:
    +SetFile -t "MooV" YourTarget.avi+
This tells your Mac that it's a movie. You'll have to navigate in terminal to your file though.
Then just drag & drop into iTunes.
*2. & 3.* Open your movie in Quicktime Pro and save it as a QuickTime Movie (either referenced or self-contained). There also is an "utility", movie2itunes, which does the referencing automatically & you don't need QT Pro. Again, just drag&drop into iTunes.
    Note:
    - Most of the time this works for me (I'm using movie2itunes). Recently I've gotten some files which don't work in iTunes, but do in QT.
    - There is no such "cheat" for iPods, you'll have to convert.
