Can't get iBook to do wpa2.

Hi,
I'm trying to get a mid 2005 iBook (1.42ghz with OSX 10.4.7 and all other current updates) to connect to my wireless network set up to use wpa2.
No matter what I do, the Mac stubbornly refuses to give me anything other than "The wireless network Kitten does not support the requested encryption method."
The AP is a Billion 7401VGP (firmware 5.07RC1 - which Billion sent me to try to help resolve the issue).
I have an Acer notebook with an Intel 2200bg wireless nic that connects just fine to this setup.
Both the AP and the Mac are set to wpa2-personal (pre-shared key).
If I set them both to wpa1-personal, everything works.
Another suggestion I found was to turn on interference robustness on the Mac.
When I do that and try to connect, the Mac waits a few seconds, then beeps, and the Internet Connect application disappears (though nothing gets logged by CrashReporter in the user's log directory).
What am I missing?
I've seen a lot of people who seem to have this issue with WPA2, but I've yet to find anything that gives a definitive solution.
If it helps, both the AP and the Mac (looking at the console messages), are showing constant associate/disassociate messages.
The mac seems to associate then immediately receive a DeAuth from the AP.
If I can provide any logs, messages, etc, or if there's some way to turn on useful debugging, please let me know.
Any help much appreciated.

Let's be sure  you are doing it correctly:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.  Select the desired boot drive (you will have to wait about 20 seconds before you can make the selection) then click on the large right arrow button.  If this is what you are doing and it does not work, then you may need to re-prep the external drive and re-clone.
1.  Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
After the above re-clone as follows:
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the startup volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Drag the startup volume to the Source entry field.
5. Select the backup volume from the leftside list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Check the box to Erase Destination.  Skip this step if you've already formatted the drive.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.

Can I get iBooks for my ipod without wi-fi?
    Can I download them online

You can only use the iBookstore from an iOS device, and thus only via wifi (or 3G).  If you want to get ebooks on your computer via  a wired connection, and then transfer them to your iPod, I think you would need to use another store, like Kindle, Nook, or Googlebooks.

  • HT4059 My IOS is 4.1, iphone 4. Where can I get ibooks-1? In itunes only ibooks 3 is available which requires ios6+.

My IOS is 4.1, iphone 4. Where can I get ibooks-1? Even ibooks 2 is also unavailable.
It they are now out of support, then is there any other application that I can use for pdf books reading? I only want to download books from itunes or my collection and to read them over my iphone.
In itunes only ibooks 3 is available which requires ios6+.
    Please advice.
    Thanks & Regards,

Only the current version of each app is available for download from the store, so for iBooks there is only the version that requires iOS 5+
There are other apps in the store which support PDFs, though I don't how many work on iOS 4.1 - 'PDF Manager Free' appears to be one, and the Stanza app also says that it supports PDFs

  • Can't get ibooks onto new macbook pro

    Hi
I got myself a new macbook pro set it up and all great ibooks came up right away but my sister in law got the same macbook pro as i but i cannot get ibooks onto it, i have been to the app store but its not there i really cannot remember howi got mine onto my macbook, i think its when i set my macbook pro it asks you questions and then to setup your apple id in the set up process, well we had difficulty in trying to sign her in as it would not accept the password, even tho i have gone into iTunes and signed her in ok but not in set up, so we skipped that, so now we cannot put her iPad onto the iTunes on macbook either, is that why we cannot load the ibooks app onto the macbook because we cannot get her iPad hooked to iTunes,?
gosh hope you can understand me again lol
I have just asked a question about the set up so sorry i am repeating my self but this one was about the ibooks.
    Hope you can help.
    many thanks

    Hello Traceykate,
iBooks for Mac is part of the OS X Mavericks. Check to see what version of OS X you and your sister are running. If you one of them is not updated, then go to the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks and you should be able to have iBooks. Check out the articles below for more information about iBooks for Mac, how to check what version of OS X you are running and a link to download Mavericks.

  • Can't get ibook to boot from external harddrive when hitting option key

    Hello,
After owning a Pismo Powerbook that had it's hardrive replaced --twice--, i'm all about backing my shtuff up for my ibook.
I picked up a Lacie d2 external harddrive today, and used Disk Utility's Restore function to copy everything from the ibook to the drive. I can boot off the Lacie without a problem when I select it as the startup disk from sys preferences.
But I can't get it to boot from the Lacie when I depress the Option key while rebooting or starting.
    any suggestions?

  • Can i get ibook translate english to indonesia

please help me to get ibook translate from english to indonesia..

You can get Firefox in English from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html or if you want Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
After installing the English version of Firefox you should check a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''general.useragent.locale''', if it is not set to '''en-US''' (or '''en-GB''' if you installed the English-British version), double-click on the preference and change its value.

  • Can't get ibook with dead screen to display on a TV

My G3 ibook has a dead screen. I want to make it work like a desktop by using a TV as an external monitor. I have a video output to TV connection adapter cord. I can power up the ibook and I can hear the music CD playing... that makes me think everything is working except for the screen. But no picture comes on the TV after boot up. I have a feeling that a setting called "Video Mirroring" needs to be activated, or no output will go to the TV through the combo S-video/composite adapter cord. But without the ability to see any display on the ibook, how can I activate this setting?, is there an apple command that can be made without seeing any display on the ibook? Please help with any ideas.

I have a video output to TV connection adapter cord. I can power up the ibook and I can hear the music CD playing...
Just to be absolutely clear, which "adapter cord" do you have? If you have the Apple A/V Cable or an iPod A/V Cable plugged into your headphone port, you won't get video through if you have an 800MHz G3 iBook. You will need the Apple Video Adapter (and an s-video or composite video cable). As you've discovered, you can keep your "cord" to get the audio from your headphone port to the TV, though.

  • Can I get IBooks Authors Proof book from iPad back to computer?

iBooks Author didn't save correctly file and when I try to open file programm asks for index.xhtml.
When I change filename to zip, I can see all image files, but index file was disapeared. Replacing with older index file, of course, results with older version of book.
The last full version of book is only Proof on iPad. Is it possible to get book back to iBooks Author as editable file?
    Thanks!

Interesting idea, but I think it's mainly of interest to people who lose or forget to save their project file or it gets corrupted and they don't want to have to start all over again.   Another app with a similar issue is the (now discontinued) iWeb, and iMovie probably works the same way.  I would agree it is very unlikely Apple would change this behavior.

You can buy and download ibooks on your Mac for backup/syncing purposes, but they can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

I'm no expert, but try removing the "fbdevhw" module from your xorg. I'd look over my PPC xorg.conf, but I don't have access to it currently.
    UPDATE:
I noticed you are looking for a working config on the other post, I'll post mine when I have a chance.

  • Where can I get iBooks for iPad OS 4 or 5?  The store requires OS 7

I'm a novice. I was given a used iPad that has the OS 4 physical features but it was upgraded to OS 5.1.1 so I'm trying to put some apps on it that I'll actually use.

See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.
