Can't get iCal and Address Book to sync properly

I recently upgraded to Office 2008. Since then, I can't get iCal and Address book to sync properly with Entourage 2008 (I did set all three sync criteria in Entourage preferences). None of Entourage's events go into iCal (iCal is blank) and the Address Book has 10 times as many names as Entourage. Everything in Entourage 2008 is correct and everything in iCal and Address Book is essentially wrong.
Is there some way for me to erase everything in Address Book and iCal and start the sync between them and Entourage from scratch? Ultimately, I am trying to get Entourage to sync with my new Blackberry, which it does through iCal and Address Book using Missing Sync. I can't make this happen until information is flowing properly from Entourage to iCal and Address Book.
Thank you!

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING - BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA IN ENTOURAGE.
You can delete everything in iCal by deleting the calendar (Entourage or Personal or temp or whatever Calendar is there). You can delete everything in Address book either by highlighting all the contacts and hitting delete or by deleting the Address Book folder in Address Book.
The key in getting them to sync properly with Entourage is deleting all the preferences in your Library folder under <your user>. Delete anything with Microsoft Entourage in it. I also deleted iCal preferences and Address Book Preferences.
I also found it necessary to go to the Office folder and delete the sync services folder.
Also go to Entourage sync services and turn OFF syncing with iCal and Address Book. Exit Entourage.
Go to your application folder, isync - reset sync history (button at bottom of screen).
Then bring up Entourage, sync services, and reactivate syncing with iCal and Address Book.
Everything should work. I have been struggling with this the last week or two. I've had innumerable exchanges with MS who have said anything with syncing is not their problem it's an apple application. Through these discussion boards I pieced together all of the elements above. But be sure to back up anything you want to keep before you do any of this.
It should work. It did for me (at least last night and all day today). Good luck.

IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. • Getting iCal and Address Book onto Palm Pre (if you use Missing Sync)

If you use Missing Sync to sync your address book/iCal to your Palm, it looks like you will have to setup a Gmail account and a Google calendar.  You can then export your iCal calendars to a folder and import them into your Google calendar from the web.  Download a free trial of Spanning Sync to sync your contacts (only!!) to your Google contacts and then your Palm Pre should be able to subscribe to your Google calendar and your google contacts (Which should be identical to your iCal). The only question from here is how any new contacts or appointments on your computer will sync to the Pre.  Maybe Missing Sync will come out with something.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

I'm running Missing Sync 1.0.2 for Palm Pre and WebOS 1.4.  It seems to work but it is really slow - takes 11 minutes to sync my contacts and calendars over a fast wifi connection.  I have about 1000 contacts and a complex calendar, but i'm only syncing 2 months past and future.
i opened a ticket about this, we'll see what happens.
Does anyone have any experience with the speed of Missing Sync over wifi prior to webOS 1.4?  This is a new device, i updated it to 1.4 immediately before installing Missing Sync.

"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • How can i transfer my ical and address book from macbook/iphone to my new imac?

    Hi, to all!
I have just bought a used imac, i have used home sharing to get my itunes from my macbook.
I want to know if there is a way to transfer my ical and address book from my macbook onto new/used imac?
Also is there a way of transfer my bookmacks bar?
    Please can someone help.
    Thanks

You can move your iTunes music Library folder to external media from the G5 to the Mavericks machine and point a modern version of iTunes at it.
I don't know what you'll have to do with your Contacts, however.

    Hello hbell,
is there any reason that you do not want
to upgrade to v10.5.? Suggest you call
    1-800-275-2273 Apple Support. Automated call
yet if you call back you can get in touch with an
Apple Software Specialist. They may be able to ship
you Leopard so that you can synch your new iPhone
to you own computer. Have the serial numbers of your
Mac and iPhone written down and ready for them.
As far as transferring data to your husbands MacBook
so that you can sync your iPhone on it I am really not
sure. Seems like a lot of trouble to get your data onto
    your iPhone.
    Good Luck,

I would like to share the ical and address book between the 2 phones
is that possible  - any help gratefully rec'd !!

He needs to add your Apple ID in settings > mail, contacts, calendars (as a secondary iCloud account), then check contacts and calendars from the options available.
Note, he would be able to enable mail, reminders etc as well at will. should he wish to do so. If you are OK with that, it should all work as you want it to.

  • Simple question; Mac Server Setup for Mail, iCal and Address Book Services.

    Hi Guys;
I'm new to the Mac Server world and need a few questions answered.
I have purchased a new Mac mini Server for hosting File, Web, Mail, iCal and Address Book Services.
I’m comfortable setting up File and Web Services however I’m a bit uneasy setting up Mail, iCal and Address Book services to be access locally and remotely(via the internet).
    My current setup is;
Internet connection (Dynamic IP) -> Router -> Mac mini Server.
I have purchased a domain name (Thornton-net.com) from DynDns.com + a custom DNS service as I can setup my router to update my domain’s IP address automatically.
I can access File and Web Services remotely (thortnon-net.com) perfectly without any issues via the Port Forwarding feature of the Router.
If I setup Mail, iCal and Address Book Services -> will Mail, iCal and Address Book clients be able to access these services hosted by the server via Thornton-net.com?

    Welcome to the forums.
For mail services (and specifically for your outbound mail to be accepted by other mail servers) your mail server needs to have a static IP address and matching forward and reverse and MX records, or a tunnel to a static IP (with matching DNS), or you need another mail server where you have an authorized relay. Without that, your mail will be considered a spam engine, and dropped.
Additionally, your particular tier of service with your ISP (with a static IP) will generally allow server-oriented access and server-oriented network traffic, where a residential or other tier of service (with a dynamic IP addresses) can be firewalled.
The ISP controls the "high ground" of the network connections here, so you pretty much get to play by their rules and requirements. If they don't offer static IP, then (presuming their T&Cs permit it) you get to tunnel (via IPv6, for instance) to a tunnel broker, and receive your network traffic via that (and with matching DNS) point of presence. That could well be a tunnel for your mail at whichever your DNS provider is here, because you'll have issues with your dynamic address. (You get to sort out if they offer that.)
Far and away the easiest approach (if you want to host this stuff yourself) is to work with the ISP. They're inherently involved in your network, and they and they alone have full control over your reverse DNS configuration.

  • Transferring iCal and Address Book from iPod

I had a lot of trouble installing Leopard to the point where I had to backup my user folder, erase the hard drive and then install Leopard, and re-copy my files back onto the computer. Either there was a special way to backup iCal and Address Book files or it just didn't, but now I am without either. However, thankfully, I had backed up my iPod before I did the erase. Is there a way I can get the Address Book and iCal files off of my iPod? Also, to sync my files beforehand, I put on the automatic sync via iTunes. Will this be problematic when I first plug in my iPod in Leopard? Thanks so much.

    Similar problem here,
I have a month-old archived version of my AddressBook, but today my entire rolodex vanished when the program froze and I force quit. I have a much more recent update on my ipod and have made significant additions/editions in the past month. Can I retrieve all that data from my iPod??

  • Mail 4.2, iCal, and Address Book no longer syncing to Exchange 2007

For the last year or so I have had a perfectly functioning connection to our company Exchange 2007 server that worked for Mail, iCal, and Address Book. However, in the last 2 weeks or so I have been unable to sync to those account, getting the little icon with exclamation point in a triangle, meaning it can't sync to the account.
I have tried deleting the account and recreating. It auto-discovers that account server just fine and auto-configures the SSL ports, but I still can't get the account to sync.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone figure out what's going on?
I'm using Apple Mail 4.2 on OS 10.6.3.
    Thanks.

I think my company updated Exchange on Friday and since then I cannot sync with Mac Mail, Entourage does not seem to be working either?
    Any fix found

  • Deleted sync framework, now ical and address book don't work

In an attempt to get rid of all the isync and .mac things on my mac I deleted some sync files that I need. I deleted the sync framework and sync services out of my system/library folder. Now ical and address book won't open. The crash log says it needs the syncservices framework and privateframework. Could somebody help me out as I obviously need those programs. I tried copying those file from my g4 imac to my intel but that didn't work. I refuse to reinstall the system again. (I make lots of mistakes, but I gotta learn, right?) Help is appreciated. Thanks

    ProwessLegacy,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Based on your description, if you refuse to reinstall the system again, may I suggest an Archive and Install as an alternative. It can preserve user and network settings with minimal disruption to your current installation.
You will have to reapply subsequent updates but it will be less of hassle than digging around for replacements for unknown missing components.
    ;~)

  • Syncing to a new computer (and keeping iCal and Address Book info intact)

Well, after a few years my old iMac G5 finally died. Fortunately, I was able to grab all of the information off the hard drive and load it onto an external. I have a new iMac and I'm pretty happy.
However, I also have an 64GB iPod Touch that is currently synced to the computer that just died. Now, I want to sync this iPod to my new computer. Now, I have all of my music, photos, and apps and such on my new computer so I'm not trying to pull that off of my iPod. What I'm more concerned about is my iCal and Address Book. I use both often and have a lot of information in them. My new computer has none of this information.
So, what do I need to do sync my iPod with my new computer without losing my iCal and Address Book info? I still have access to the data on my old hard drive, but not the computer itself (if that helps). Hopefully I can get some help soon because I really want to try out OS4...
(Also, I want to make sure that I transferred my Apps correctly. I moved the files I found from my old iTunes folder onto my new iTunes. They seem to show up okay and have received updates but I wanted to make sure that when these apps synced to the iPod again that they would work okay. I'm most concerned about purchased apps and apps that have saved data like Plants Vs. Zombies).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod will be erased during the first sync.
Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • Is it possible to transfer outlook Calendar and Contacts across to iCal and Address Book

I am a recent convert to iMac from Windows and would like to transfer my calendar and contact details to iCal and Address Book rather than manual enter them. Is this possible?

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately, however I am seeing a similar issue.  I posted a thread about this specific to Outlook 14.2.1 syncing to iCal 5.0 via OS X Lion (10.7).  Adding information on what platform(s) you are working on may be a help in getting this resolved and in addition you can watch the thread I posted if you are on the same OS X as me as I am having issues syncing from Outlook to iCal on all Mac devices.  Good luck!

  • Syncing material from my iCal and Address Book to Exchange

My situation: I keep 90% of my life in iCal and Address book, because I love their overall integration. My assistant is a Windoze user and we have an exchange server at work.
I have both Exchange sync and MobileMe sync set up on my phone and both work well. That is, I have material from both my Mac (via MobileMe) and the Exchange server (via the iPhone) on the iPhone. Very cool.
However, entries from my iCal/Address Book do not appear to make its way through the "Cloud" to my account on the Exchange server, where my assistant could see them. This is a bummer, as I want her to be able to see when I'm free to meet, get my contacts' addresses, etc. But, I'm not willing to go over the Entourage full time because it dislike it strongly.
Any hints as to how to make this work?
    Thanks.

Not much you can do then. There are rumors that Address Book and iCal will support ActiveSync in Snow Leopard but for now the only desktop based Exchange client for the Mac is Entourage.
If you set up Entourage to sync with AB/iCal you can just leave Entourage open in the background. It will sync with both the programs you like and the server.
