Can't get internet access to computer based DVR
I have a computer based DVR (security cameras), that I want to be able to see through the internet. I have done a lot of reading on the net for how to set port forwarding in both the router (Linksys WRT54G) and the modem (Westell 6100G). I can access the camera computer from other computers on the LAN using the camera computer local IP or by using the router IP, but can’t get to the camera computer from the internet. The modem is bridged and I created a port forward to the camera computer both in the modem and router. What am I missing?

This is a similiar set up and linksys requires that you put a port number for the start.
it looks like it wants the same number as the end
so 9000 start and 9000 end

I received an iPad 2 for Christmas (the 1st Apple item I've ever owned!) and own a Nokia N95 8GB mobile (that's pretty much on its last legs/ready to die any day).
On the Nokia I've got 2 apps (downloaded from/via Nokia's 'Ovi' app store): JoikuSpot & HandyWi. Both are the free versions.
I've not used HandyWi much - if at all - but JoikuSpot has been great. Basically, it creates a wifi hotspot (as pjl123 mentioned) in a couple of straightforward steps, and allows a few devices to be connected. It displays who/what is connected at a given time - so you can check if the guy having coffee behind you is piggybacking your hotspot or not! - data packets sent received etc.
The paid version has the benefit of allowing you to secure the hotspot and other security features. Their website is www.joiku.com, FYI.
Given how slow behind the 8 ball Nokia has been, their phones are getting cheaper and cheaper - given Joiku's meant to work with Nokia S60, Symbian ^3, Maemo, Meego & Sony Ericsson S60, this might be a cost effective option.
Ps. Ah! One more thing - Joiku's website specifies that 3G must be used; that WAP will not work. Good luck, enjoy! -

Do you have a data plan with your wireless provider that supports internet browsing and messaging?
If you do, is your signal uppercase or lowercase when you're having this issue? Have you tried reinserting your battery?

Can't get internet access with WRT54G router
I recently purchased a used WRT54G. I replaced my old wired linksys router with it and my hosts are able to get dhcp addresses from the router, but they cannot access the Internet. I have tried to use dchp release and renew buttons under the status tab in the router's web-based gui to get a public IP address, but can't get one. I have attempted to reset the router to its factory settings, but I still can't get the public IP. I have no problem getting an IP and Internet access with my old router and the WRT54G works if I disable its dchp and daisy chain it to the old one. Maybe I need to do something else for a complete reset of the router. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jack
the router that you just purchased was maybe configured for a different network before that's why it did not work initially. after making the router back to its' factory defaults, you should reconfigure or set-up the router.. If you have CABLE ISP, enable ''mac address clone'' on the router's set-up page under the set-up tab. then check if you can get a public ip address after that.

Can't get internet on second computer
I've set up Airport Extreme with my newer laptop and have wireless internet service. However, I am not able to get wireless service on my older laptop even though I've selected my network and filled in the password.
It's an OSX laptop - and I have since got the phone no. for apple support. They had me edit the Airport Extreme, on the Networks tab, changing Off Bridge mode to "DHCP and NAT" and that did it.

Can not get more than one computer to access internet
using airport and can not get more than one computer to access internet wirelessly... currently airport is in bridge mode and internet sharing is set to "off" in network preferences...
help - what should the settings be in airport and network preferences?are using internet connection as dhcp?

bridge mode seems to only work with pppoe connection to internet which is what my set up is
But you've never said why you're using bridge mode (I'm not), which -- as I've explained before -- is probably the reason you can connect only 1 client at a time.
If you'll setup the AX as a regular, main base station, connect using DHCP, and share IP addresses, you should be fine. -
Safari and firefox stop working after a few minutes of browsing, regardless of what site I'm on. I have to restart my computer to get internet access again but it only works for a few more minutes, then I have to restart again. I don't get a spinning ball, it just stops working at whatever page it's on. I can close the program just fine but when I re-open it, either safari or firefox, it freezes trying to load the hompage. This started a few days ago after trying to stream a movie on my computer. I'm on a Mac Air OS X Version 10.6.8 and have downloaded all updates. When I go into finder, it says I have over 80 gigs available. Is there some other memory cache that I need to check? Thanks so much for your help.

I'm not trying to belittle your issues; you're certainly having them and I know first hand how annoying an intermittent AirPort issue can be. (In fact, mine was due to an AirPort driver bug that no one else seemed to suffer from.)
The single best diagnostic you could do is take your system running 10.5.7 to an Apple Store, and try using their in-store network.
If your machine performs flawlessly, it may be a router issue.
If your machine has connectivity issues there, it may be a hardware problem with your machine.
There have been numerous people in multiple threads over the years who swore that an update was buggy because things used to work, but returned later to sheepishly admit that they took their machine in, a problem was found and fixed, and now their Mac works flawlessly with the newer software.
But simply reinstalling 10.5.5 in no way means the explanation of how firmware bugs may be at play here is incorrect.
In the context of that explanation, all you've done is possibly reinstall software that asks to add "2 + 3." -
Can't get internet on more than one computer!

We recently changed internet providers, and now only one of our computers seems to be able to use the internet at a time. All of them show a full signal from the airport in the toolbar, and there does not seem to be any problem with the airport itself. So even though nothing seems to be wrong, we can't get more than one computer on the internet, a problem that never occurred before we switched our provider.
I need to fix this, but am not sure where to begin, because I can't determine what the problem is. I'd appreciate any sort of clue as to where to begin.

Is the AirPort Express (AX) the only router you have? If so, you need to make sure that it is configured to "share a single IP address". -
Why can I not get internet access today?
I was not able to get internet access at home this morning and now I can't get it at the office. G-mail says the mail server is not responding. Also, none of my apps are loading. Verizon, please fix this!
Criggs, we have work to do! We can't have you without service and access to your g-mail account. Do you have wireless or landline service? Which wireless phone do you have?

my wifi is showing connected but i am not getting internet access.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Connecting a WRT54G v2 to BEFSR41. How do I do it to get internet access with both?
So recently I just bought a BEFSR41 to split the internet coming from a cat5e cable from the WRT54G so I can get internet on both my xbox 360 and computer, but I've run into a bunch of issues. First off, I've tried turning my BEF into an access point by creating a new IP, disabling DHCP and connecting it to a numbered port, but I can't get internet from that solution. I've called tech support to see if they could help but I just wasted 2 hours of their time because all the solutions they tried didn't work either. So I'm wondering if its my cable thats the problem. Its a CAT5e cable branched through my room to the office room I say about 50 to 100 feet away. I receive internet through this cable when i connect it to the computer but when i connect it to the xbox it doesnt even register an ip. Also when i connect this cable to my very old netgear router RT314, it can receive internet but it has trouble with connecting to different users. Any help will be much appreciated. Cable Modem----(internet port)WRT54Gport4-----BEFSR41 port4---computer.

Can't get Internet through my own Network Connecti...
Hi, I have a HH3, which I am constantly having to switch off and on again for devices to connect to the Internet. It's been happening for months, and last week BT sent me a new hub, but it hasn't fixed the problem. It seems that our devices connect to the router, but the router doesn't connect to the Internet.
If I select the BT Wifi connection and log in via the Openzone homepage, I get Internet access. But this is not practical for all devices. My children can't play on their tablets and viewing / downloading TV on demand is pretty much impossible. And these were the main reasons for upgrading to Infinity.
I've had several conversations with call centre support staff, but the problem persists.
Can anybody tell me whether this is a settings issue that I can fix? My family is going nuts!EDIT: As you initially posted on the Infinity board I have assumed you have infinity. If you only have ADSL this will not apply to you.
Make a direct connection from your PC/Laptop to the Openreach modem which will eliminate the homehub. Follow this guide to do that. Use your computer as normal to see if it disconnects. If it does disconnect you will know it is either a faulty modem or a line/exchange fault.
Step 1: Remove the homehub from the modem
Step2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
Step3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
Step4: Connect to the internet then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
Step5: Username [email protected] and the password as BT
Step6: connect, If it doesn't,keep pressing try again until it does. -
How can I get internet connectivity with my iPod Touch cabled to my PC?
Most devices "tether" to a computer (PC or iMac) for internet connection. I cannot find any reference in the user manual on getting internet access from the connected PC to the "tethered" ipod touch. How can I accomplish this?

The iPod touch can connect over a Wi-Fi network, as mentioned here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2031.
If your PC has a wireless card, you may be able to create an Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi network that can share the Internet access to the iPod touch.
You can also get a wireless router, like an Airport base station http://www.apple.com/wifi/.
