Can't get into the Mac OS

I tried to download the new update to OS10, but the software update feature stalled. So I made it force quite. Then, next time I turned on the machine, it would not get to the Mac OS - screen turned grey and told me to turn off the machine and restart. I tried 4 times. I then restarted and went through bootcamp and started in windows fine.
I would appreciate any help.

I do not have the start up disks. I did not get any with my machine. Is that normal?
No. You should have gotten a set of Mac OS X installation disks with your computer.
I do have upgrade disks for my old power pc imacs with OS10.6. Would those work?
No. These disks do not contain the resources necessary to start up your computer.
Assuming the answer is no, I guess I have to bring the intel imac into the apple store, right?
Basically, yes. The only Mac OS X installation disk which is compatible with Intel machines that Apple sells separate from hardware is currently the Mac OS X 10.4 Server universal installer. If you go there, you should say that you didn't get installation disks with the machine.

I can't get into the itunes store through my itunes because the homepage has the add for updating to itunes 10. I tried to do it, but then realized I don't have the software for it, I need Mac OS 10.5 or higher and I have 10.4. You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

If you know the password to your apple id login - you can then do a restoration once you have put your device into recovery mode using itunes.
read this article to give you direction how to put your device into recovery mode.
Once you have put in your apple id login and password this then will allow you to restore the device once the device is placed in recovery mode.

IMovie has frozen up on me. I've tried rebooting and reinstalling the apps- no help. I can play some of the files- but I can't get into the libraries.Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a few minutes. What can I do?

I desperately need your help. I was working on iMovie last night when the thing froze up on me. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling the apps. No change. I can play some of the files- although I can't tell which ones will play until they magically appear. I can't get into the project library or the event library. The bar that lets me scroll through the clips is gone. Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a couple of minutes and generates a "problem report" that says "iMovie Quit Unexpectedly". This all started when I was adding cutaways- and one clip just would not load. After I tried several times everything froze up. Have you ever heard of something like this? Maybe I pushed a button or somehow changed a setting? Maybe some of the video is corrupt? What do you recommend?

Thank You. This helps me alot to get into the masters and to see events and photos in a utilitarian way, but it is not as easy as viewing the normal iphoto format to find photos. Can I do something else or did I not do something right to not see normal iphoto in Time Machine ?

I'd say your sister messed up and your iPod is toasted.
Think about it... She plugged it in to another computer, she doesn't remember what she did (yeah, right), and now your iPod is not being recognized by your computer...
Also take into consideration how old is your sister, and how much does she know about electronics?
