Can't get into the store

Whenever I try to get into the store I get an error message (no number) saying iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store and to make sure my network connection is active and try again. I have tried flushing DNS and the other Apple suggestions. This has been happening since the 24th. I have no trouble with other web sites.

Same exact problem. The issue is with Apple, i'm sure. I've tried everything on all the discussions, etc. still same message. iTunes worked FINE with my old iPod and before i "upgraded" (sic) to 8.0 Does anyone at Apple care that your customers can't buy anything for their new iPods? If this issue isn't addressed do you think we're going to buy anything else from your snotty company?

    You're not the only one some European countries (UK, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Germany < these are the countries that have confirmed they are having this problem) are having the same problem. This discussion is also highlighting the same problems you are having:

  • I have downloaded over 100 books from apple on my I Pad1. Now I can not get into the store because the iBook stops working

    I buy books to read when I need quiet time but it seem that the I Book store is not working and every time I try it shuts itself down, maybe apple might know what is wrong with this app or I will have to stop trying to buy books and go to Amazon for my books.i have over a hundred books and I like to buy books when I see a book in stores and like to download them to my I Pad which goes with me everywhere. Can someone fix this problem or I will have to get a Nexsus 10 and a kindle fire for my books.

    Since you didn't really provide specific details as to exactly what is happening with the iBooks app, you can go thought these troubleshooting steps and see if any of them work for you.
    iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
    Sometimes it is as simple as restarting your iPad or closing the app and rebooting/resetting the iPad. If nothing works from the troubleshooting article, post back with some details.

    I am unable to access i-tune store.  I can log in but that is as far as it goes.  No error messages are shown.  Can you help me spend my money please?

    Try downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes.

    What does this mean? I just got itunes for the first time on this computer and my first Ipod. I can't get into the store at all! I have windows Vista home basic.

    If your computer has one of the LSPs listed you may have to reset winsock.

    I have the same problem, I sent my submission when 4.9 came out. No way to get in the direcotry, I am also listed anywhere else.
    I have a jazz podcast which is member of Association of Music Podcasting. It's podsafe and I have a growing number of listeners. Please Apple do something.

    Were you connecting regulary up until a week ago? I have noticed that I have gotten a lot of those messages tonight. May the iTune site is very busy? (a lot of iTunes cards given out today)
    I closed iTunes and then re-opened and it helped. My connections have been intermittent at best tonight.

I tried to do it, but then realized I don't have the software for it, I need Mac OS 10.5 or higher and I have 10.4.     In iTunes prefs>Store - is the Store check box unchecked?
    Did you repair pemissions with Disk Utility?
