Can't get iphone 3 out of restore mode

I need some advice on getting my 3g out of the restore mode.  It is stuck.  When I try to restore, it ends with an error message 1015.  I am overseas and had to get it unlocked.  Does that mean it has been jailbroken?  Is that why I am getting the error message?  I need some tips to get me it out of this mode so I can use it again.  Advice??

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.  Very rarely this error is caused by a hardware issue and requires service.

  • My iphone 4 is brand new and for some reason is stuck in restore mode, ive tried uninstalling itunes and almost everything else for troubleshooting. how can i get it out of restore mode?

screen shows USB cord, and an arrow pointing to the iTunes icon. After many attempts to troubleshoot & restore the iPhone 4 with iTunes its still in recovery mode. It  has shown a few error messages like 9 &1013. Can anyone shed any light on this its been two weeks and still nothing?

Actually, the phone is in recovery mode.
Error 9 indicates USB connection problem.
Error 1013 indicates security app interference or alteration of your hosts file by prior use of iphone hacking apps such as tinyumbrella.

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Usually this is caused by your antivirus or firewall blocking iTunes access to the Internet. It can also occur if the phone is jailbroken or if the computer you are using was ever used to jailbreak an iDevice.

  • How do i get iphone out of recovery mode

how do I get my iphone out of recovery mode - I have restored it over and over again.  it keeps telling me its in recovery mode.  how do I get it back to normal operating mode.

Reset, can sometimes exit Recovery Mode if nothing is wrong with your iPhone. If there is problem only exit is to connect to iTunes and click the Update or Restore button that iTunes offers you.

  • How to get iPhone out of recovery mode?

OK, i need to get my phone out of recovery mode. The thing is, i do NOT want to restore my iPhone to factory settings, i have so much stuff on there like notes and calendar dates and text messages and contacts that i have put in since my last update. Is my only option to go ahead with the restore or is there another way to get my phone out of recovery mode? Is there a way to save my data?

I had exactly same problem and when I called apple i-phone support, she told me to select restore the phone but all the data should be in the i-phone backup and will not be deleted.
I followed her directions and I could restore my phone without deleting any of my stored musics, photos, and other info.
The tricky thing is after you click the restore, it showed the error message and you need to unplug your i-phone from the computer and restart your computer again. Then open the i-tune without connecting your i-phone. Once you open i-tune, connect your i-phone then restore again.
After restore the i-phone, it ask you to backup or set as new phone. Choose backup from your i-phone. Then all your data should be restored.
Whole process takes about half hour but all your data should be recovered from the i-phone backup folder.

  • How to get phone out of restore mode or atleast switch on if i do not want to update ?

I was on a call when my cell went into restore mode. When i connected it with itunes, it offered restore with an update. i got a sucky connection so it's not able to get the download in one go. so the real problem here is, how do i start my phone or restore it without going for jailbreak ??
And i was able to download the update from a site offering jailbreak. Now that update file is of the same size as that of the update being offered on the itunes so i assume its the same but when i press "shift+restore" and chose that file, itunes tries to verify this update file with apple and then shows "error 40", and then silently denies me the chance of using my phone. can i use that update file in anyway without hurting apple's feelings ?

  • Can't get iPhone 3GS to recovery mode

I have an old iPhone that I haven't used for over a year. Naturally I couldn't remember the passcode. I tried all the versions of getting it to Recovery mode but none of those worked. When pressing the home and sleep buttons the slider never went off. Likewise when starting the phone, pressing the home while connecting the cable never got me to Recovery. Nor did the DFU mode instructions. Now I've ran out of attempts in unlocking the phone, it just tells me to connect the phone to iTunes. Well, surprise, it still won't connect. It gives me the "can not connect to iTunes. Cancel - Try again"-pop-up every time.
I'm wondering if that is because the iTunes is a much newer version than the phone? Or is my home button broken? Pressing the home button doesn't wake the phone up from sleep, should it. My iPhone 5 it does but I can't remember what the functionality was in 3GS.
Any suggestions? Should I try to find an older version of iTunes or what. I tried it with both a Macbook and a PC, same response on both.
Very grateful for any suggestions, my son really (I mean REALLY!) would like to get his hands on the phone...
    Best Regards,
    Olli

Pressing the home button should wake up the display if the phone is powered on. It sounds to me like the home button is toast on your phone if it refuses to enter recovery mode.
You can bring it to an Apple store and they can confirm that for you if you'd like.

  • Can't get iPhone 4s to restore

Hello all, my iPhone 4s has been jailbroken for some time now. With the new iOS 7 out, I figured I would update it, the thing is that it won't restore. If I try to restore my phone from my computer, I get an error message "iPhone software update server could not be contacted". Then, if i try to restore using only my phone, it shows the apple logo with the progress bar and then jumps straight to a loading circle. It won't progress any through the bar and I have tried leaving it alone while it shows the loading circle. I eventually turned it off and back on, it reactivated my phone but it wasnt restored at all. Please help!!

  • HT201210 can not get iphone4s out of recovery  mode.  it keeps saying an unknown error occurred.

I installed the latest upgrade on my Iphone4s now it wont turn on, and will not work.  the screen on my phone show a picture of a plug, i plug into the computer, itunes comes up and it says phone is in recovery zone. then it says an error has occurred.  i just want to get my phone to turn back on and work, can anyone help or have any suggetions of what to do.  The people working in our local AT&T store are so unhelpful and lazy!

That usually indicates a hardware failure. If you can return it and get your money back, do so. Otherwise, make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced or buy a new one.

  • I am willing to buy an iPhone 5c and its in recovery mode. Can I get it out off this? Its at a great price but I dont want to waste my money.

Is it possible to get my iPhone 5c out of recovery mode?

If the iPhone is in recovery mode simply due to a software issue (ie: a failed iOS update), it's very easy to get it out of recovery mode. It just needs to be restored.
If the owner is selling it and the only problem he/she mentions is that it's in recovery mode, it's very likely there are some other issues also. It could have a hardware problem that the owner is not revealing or is unaware of. It may also have been jailbroken and this can permanently brick the phone.
Best not purchase it as the odds of you ending up with a very colorful paperweight are high.
