Can't get iPhone Remote App to work

I'm running iTunes 10.7 on OS-X10.6.8 and trying control using an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0.1. In theory I should be able to link via my AppleID OR by some other passcode authenticated technique. Neither seem to work at all.
Both seem to be happily talking to iTunes/AppStore and are on the same network.
Any ideas or recommended threads to look at?

Problem Solved, Just had to play around with the firewall settings...

Have you tried to force the Video app to quit and then relaunch?
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app:
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Double-tap the Home button to display recent apps.
Tap and hold the affected app until the red minus appears.
Tap the red minus to quit the app.
Press the Home button, then restart the app.
You can also try restarting the iPhone.

Can't pair iPhone Remote App in 3.0

After updating to 3.0 I now can't pair my iPhone Remote App with my ATV. I had it paired at one point in the past. Since I've done a factory reset of the ATV and today upgraded to 3.0. The option to even add an iPhone in ATV is greyed out and the option to select ATV on the iPhone is also greyed out.

I am having the same problem in that the iphone does not even show up under the remote section on ATV. I have three ATV units and it does the same thing on all of them. They all were accessible using the remote app in the past. Had no issues previously with pairing the iphone as a remote. Updated remote application just the other day and it still is not working. Anybody have a fix. My network is fine we have tons of devices that use it daily. ATV's are connected through ethernet.

I can't get iphone screen mirroring to work via my apple tv

I have ios5 on my phone, and an apple TV. I can not get the mirroring funcion to work on the Apple TV. I double click the home button on the phone, slide the bottom row of aps all the way to the right, and click on the Air Play symbol, but no luck. Any ideas?

Mirroring is working on my iPad2 and iPhone4S (IOS5) but not on my iPad (ios5) or iPhone 3G (IOS4).
As I understand it, mirroring is restricted to iPad2 and iPhone4S on ios5.

Can't get Apple Remote App to stay connected to my ITunes library.

I recently had my modem and router taken out by lightening. So I replaced them both with what is supposed to be the latest and greatest. Simultaneously, Apple had a new version of ITunes, so I updated. Now I can't get the Apple remote app to stay connected to ITunes. If I start ITunes on my computer, my IPhone 5 will see and connect to the library, as well as my IPad. But as soon as my IPhone or IPad goes to sleep and I try to reconnect to the library, it can't connect to the library. I've never had any connection problems before and not sure what is causing the problem. I can turn off Home Sharing in ITunes and turn it back on again, or restart ITunes and it works, but as soon as the IPhone or IPad goes to sleep, it won't reconnect again. Is this a router issue or ITunes Home Sharing issue? Any input to resolve this will be greatly appreciated..............because it is really annoying not to be able to control music the way I did before! All products have the latest updates.

Take it back and exchange it.
If the remote doesn't work out of the box new then either remote is faulty or AppleTV is faulty (eg IR sensor not located properly in the case).
Either way one of them isn't working, exchange it.

Can't get iPhone 5 recording to work using Quicktime on Yosemite

QuickTime on Yosemite now has this nifty feature where you can record your iPhone, provided you connect it using a lightning cable. Now I've done all that, but when I open QuickTime and select my iPhone from the dropdown menu next to the record button on QuickTime, it stutters and fails to pull my iPhone's image to my mac. If I press record anyways, it crashes.
One thing that does happen is that it keeps reopening iPhoto asking if I want to import photos from my phone. (a little annoying.) Maybe the cable is bust? It works fine in any other occasion.
Who else has this problem? I need the recording function pretty badly...

I'm having a similar issue. I'm trying to record some games on my iPhone 6 Plus. My Macbook Pro is from 2010 and still running strong. However, I'm getting crashes when trying to record Vain Glory. I can record other games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Quicktime on the Mac just seems to be crashing with certain iPhone apps. Weird issue.

How can I set the Remote app to work if I have lost my apple remote?

I lost my remote to my Apple TV and I can't go into town to get another at the moment because there was a lot of snow and ice here. So, I'm wondering how I can set my iPhone 5 up as a remote using the remote app without the normal remote. I know the remote app used to auto-connect to the Apple TV, but since recent updates, you have to set it up as a remote on the actual Apple TV itself. Is there a way to get around this? Welcome to the Apple Community Dylan.
There is no way to set up home sharing on the Apple TV without the original remote from Apple, you will need to purchase a new remote from the Apple Store.
If you already have homesharing set up on the Apple TV, you merely need to set it up in the remote app settings.

Can't get Apple Remote Desktop to work

I cannot get apple remote desktop to recognize my lab computers. It only recognizes one in there and all the info is the same on the others. It sees them but it says they are offline when I have them all on and ready. I did an update to make sure they were up to speed. I am running ARD 3.5.2 on mine and 3.5.2 on the snow leopard macs and there are some just leopard macs in there running 3.4.

Sorry, but no, ARD does not have a "remote printing" feature. You can use ARD to copy a file to a remote Mac and than take control of that Mac to print the document, but you cannot print directly to the remote Mac (unless someone else here knows a trick I've not discovered).
Depending on how your wife's company has things set up in their connection to the Internet, she may be able to just set up printer sharing on the work computer and print directly without needing ARD at all. A utility such as Slink may make that easier:

I can't get my iBlacklist app to work on my iPhone. Can you help?

I downloaded the iBlacklist app from the App Store to my iPhone 4. It looks nothing like the app I have seen on some of the You Tube videos explaining how the app works. And of course, it doesn't work!! Am I missing something and has anyone else had the same problem? I also downloaded the iBlacklist manager to see if that was my problem, but no it wasn;t. They got me twice since neither app works.

You're going to have to talk to the developer. I can't say I'm surprised, though. Ratings on the app store are pretty much universally bad. 237 1 Star ratings out of 258... 21 people, less than 1% gave it better than a 1 star rating. That should have been a clue.

Can't get the desktop app to work - forced to sign out and it shuts down

I was unable to install the most recent update for Adobe Story, so I uninstalled the app, went online and re-downloaded. Now, when I try to launch I get an error that user preferences weren't found, and it forces me to sign out, so I can't work offline.
I've tried a system restore, but it did not fix the problem. At this point, I am unable to use Adobe Story on my computer, just online.
Please help me fix this.

I solved this myself by creating a second Adobe ID, sharing my project files with myself under the new ID.
The app works with the new ID I created.

Can't get simple Struts app to work when using DCs

I need to use Struts to develop web apps. I took a simple example app of 3 screens and was able to get it working fine in local development.
Then I tried to do same thing using DCs in a Track. The first page of the app is a jsp called login.jsp. That file has the following two lines at the beginning:

This works fine in local development. However in the DC I get the following error when I try to run login.jsp:
Application error occurs during processing the request.
Internal error while parsing JSP page C:/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/com.firstenergycorp/pilot_webapp~strutsear/servlet_jsp/struts/root/login.jsp.
Details: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.lib.jspparser.exceptions.JspParseException: Tag library descriptor cannot be found for uri:{1}. The ID of this error is
Exception id: [000F1FCC15FA00450000000F00000CA4000400A8BC089FE5].
The struts-html.tld and struts-bean.tld are both in the WEB-INF folder of my Web Module DC.
So why am I getting this error?

we are using Struts in our application without any problems. But we don't deploy via JDI but build the ear-files in Netweaver Studio and deploy with SDM.
I guess the tag libs are not added properly to the war file of your productive environment. Can you check whether they contain the files in the correct path ?
And you shouldn't mix Tag Libs and struts.jar of different versions (e.g 1.0 + 1.2). That will result in the very same error message.

Can't get my Mail app to work. Just have spinning disc and 'Mail not reponding'

The mail app on my Macbook Pro - OS X 10.7.5 - has stopped working. When I open it all I get is a spinning disc. If I choose to force quit the box says Mail not responding. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi, I am unable to get the guessNumber sample application to work in my development environment (Rational Developer/Eclipse).
My servlet mapping:
