Can't get iPod to sync

Question

I did a reset on my iPod Nano and it wiped out my music. I had quite a time re-syncing my music from iTunes back to the nano - I finally had success by moving the USB cable to another port. It finally completed the sync of the music I had marked, but in iTunes all the music showing on the device is "ghosted" (and can't be played), I can't click and drag any music from my iTunes playlists to the iPod (I get the universal circle with a slash in it to let me know that can't be done), and there is no music on the actual iPod. Please help.

yeh mine is wrecked, tried nearly every fix, some of which aren't listed here, no joy. i can flash it to the original firmware with a fair amount of hassle, but its possible, but the updater ends up freezing up at the end, or when it finishes, under capacity it says N/A. Rang apple support, was on with them an hour and a half, no joy whatsoever, and trying to format it in windows explorer doesn't work either, it just goes through the process for 30mins then says this drive cannot be formatted.
