Can't get itunes. I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program. It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working. My two options are: Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there. If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works. Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My firewall (both anti virus firewall and windows firewall, are set up to allow itunes programme to work) - I also have set both internet explorer and chrome to allow
apple website as an exception.

Open Pictures folder and move the files named lrcat-journal and lrcat.lock to Desktop.
Make sure that , they are not inside Pictures folder any more and try to open backup from Lighrtroom and check..
Any LRcat file with .lock extension , move it to Desktop.

I am having the same problem now also. It happened after I updated my version. I have NEVER had this problem before as a windows user and have had iTunes for 5 years. So, I would have to say it is an Apple problem. I have not changed anything on my computer. I still have Internet Explorer and I have not even updated windows. The only thing I updated was iTunes. Now, I am not getting any response from Apple and if you call you have to pay for support. What a joke. I just found a way to get Fixit to Run. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ and then pick "Install or upgrade software or hardware" and run Fixit from the "Run" button on the webpage. I just picked run, instead of save, and ran it directly from the web page for each of the apple software. If the window doesn't come up full size, hit "Tab" twice and then "Return". You'll be able to see the prompts from there. Have it attempt to uninstall iTunes on its own. Repeat the process for any of the other Apple products, including Bonjour and iCloud. Then, go to the iTunes website and install from there. I had a downloaded copy and installed from there, but it came up with an error about missing the apple help, or something like that. It allowed me to uninstall, and I reinstalled direclty from the website, and it all works now.

This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacOS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9.5.1 and associating iPhoto to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID instead of updating. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If iPhoto is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

Which way are you trying to update? WiFi or iTunes? In either case, I would try restarting/rebooting all devices and then try again.
IF you are using iTunes, eject your iPad, quit iTunes, reboot your computer and reset your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. After the iPad starts up, connect to iTunes and try again. You may also want to disable your firewall and antivirus software when you try to update using iTunes. Sometimes those will interfere with the download.
If you are using WiFi, reset the iPad as described above and try again.
If WiFi updating will not work, try using iTunes, if iTunes will not work, try using WiFi.
