Can't get Itunes/Quictime to open

When I first got this computer two years ago, QuickTime worked perfectly. Now after I installed Itunes it still worked... Until recently... Every time I click on QuickTime It pops up as if working properly and It’ll show the window, but below the apple logo it has the words "...Switching..." and then it'll close down as if minimized... and It’ll keep doing that, Itunes does the same...
I don't have Norton or what ever they call it. I've deleted all QuickTime and Itunes related files and folders... I've reinstalled with QuickTime stand alone, I've checked the folders options and made sure it had the check for showing all hidden folders... And nothing works... I've just spent money on a new Ipod tonight and I'd really like some help because I don't want to take it back.
edit I don't mean minimized excatly... It doesn't show on the toolbar menu, but it still has an active button.

Download a program called EWIDO anti-malware and use it to scan your computer. If it finds anything bad, use EWIDO to remove it. You might need to reboot into Safe Mode and run EWIDO there to be sure you get rid of all the bad stuff.
Then try running iTunes.

No, Quicktime is gone. There is no folder for it in my programs nor is there an icon for it in my control panel ... Also, it says that it can't install Quicktime because a newer version is already installed.
okay, let's try this first with that.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders (some of them are already gone for you, but we'd better check through the full list).
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes. (switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.)
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Help! Can't get iTunes store to open

Recently switched from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5. To switch all of my music and apps over, I had to update my Mac to the OS X 10.6.8. I also updated my iTunes to 11.0.5. When I did this, I was able to transfer all my music, and can still access my iTunes library. Here's the problem, I can't get the iTunes library to open. It shows it loading, but only get's halfway and stops. It has my account along the top, and even the home, music, movies, and podcasts buttons, but they only load halfway as well. It's just a white screen. There is no "unable to access iTunes store" or any sort of pop-up to explain why it won't open... Just a blank screen. My WiFi is working and I've tried multiple networks to make sure that was not the problem. I can also still get onto the store from my phone using my account. I tried to see if logging in with my sister's account would make a difference, but it still did not work. I've tried all of the suggested ways through the iTunes support and haven't found the problem. I'm not sure what the best way would be to fix it. Any suggestions?!

I have exactly the same problem! Please help, it's driving me crazy!

  • I can't get itunes 11 to open

i have downloaded itunes 11 to my windows computer but can't get it to open

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?

The file that I'm have issues with in itunes is the file called iTunes Libary.itl.

  • I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app?

I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app (the orange sqaure with headphones)? Currently I have had to often downloads and sift through all my files to find the ones I want to open into itunes, and it's irritating.

Media is only where the user puts it.
Installing iTunes does not and has never caused media to magically appear on the computer.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.

  • Still can't get iTunes to open

After help from this DB I uninstalled every part of my iPod Nano and iTunes from my computer, re-installed everything and still can't get iTunes to open. It thinks about it and then just doesn't open, doesn't run, nothing. I even tried going on iTunes on here and surfing around and can't get the Music Store to open. If I click on it, it opens for 1/2 a second and then flips back to the main page. Any thoughts? Sorry to be such a PITA. I'm just frustrated with a new iPod and no music.

Okay, it seems I am not the only one with this problem. Sorry... did not see the other post until I typed this. But this is frustrating. Anyone know if I can use a later version and still use my Nano?

  • I can not get itunes to open on Windows 7...

I just got a new iPhone and wanted to back up my old iPhone to my computer one more time before switching over...Two hours later I still can not get iTunes to open.  I have two different acounts on my computer, iTunes will load on the secondary account, but not my main account.  I logged into iTunes on that account and now have issues with libraries, and overriding and synching and deleting, and a million other messages that made me nervous about backing up my phone through the secondary account.  I just want to get iTunes to work on my main account.  I have tried several different things, and am getting incredibly frustrated.  Just in case I messed up a step of the "obvious" fixes, I would appreciate anything anyone could suggest to help   Thank you!

Doublechecking. Have you tried the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document?

  • I can't get itunes to load on the computer at all! I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing! Why can't I get itunes to open??

I can't get itunes to open from my desktop. When I click on the icon nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Why isn't itunes working??

On my PC I had a problem where the iTunes store would only display a blank white page, I managed to display my account settings, but nothing for music, etc
I treid this and it has immediately sorted it out...
start>programs>accessories> right click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator
then simply enter 'netsh winsock reset' and return
after restarting the PC and loading up iTunes the store was there fine  ;-)
I posted this on some other threads and it has been successful for the other people that have tried it
