Can't get itunes to sync with ipod touch or even recognize it is connected

We cannot get a ipod touch or iphone 3g to sync with itunes. We have a ipod nano that synced fine. They are charging, but itunes does not recognize them at all.
Looking for places to start.

Ok, ran updates, found 3 new updates and after this was done all was well again. Still not sure why it only affected the touch and iphone, but guess i don't need to LOL.

Itunes not syncing with ipod touch

hey guys need help here
i just reformated my laptop and also decided to upgrade ipod touch firmware to 4.3.5
now i plug into itunes, itunes recognise my ipod touch but it wont sync the songs no matter hw many times i clicked on the word 'Sync'
i updated my playlist and it still wont sync the playlist into my ipod
it used to be able to do so before i reformatted my com and ipod
can help??

ITunes not syncing with iPod Touch 5th gen

Yesterday I purchased an iPod Touch 5th generation, and have it linked to my MacBook Pro using iTunes 12. I am running OSX 10.9.5, and cannot figure out why it is syncing all the songs I have stored in my cloud, when the "sync only selected songs" box is checked. On my ipod screen I can see all of the songs I've ever purchased, with the cloud and arrow.
Does anyone know how to keep these songs from appearing if they are not checked as "to be synced" on iTunes?

I recently purchased new Mac Mini with Lion installed. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!

One iCloud account has one user name (a .mac or .me email name) and password. If you have set up multiple accounts in the past then you must choose one and stay with it. If you don't know the user name, then you have a problem. If you haven't really begun using iCloud (but you mention trying to get mail, so I'm assuming you have used iCloud before), then use a .mac or .me account you know you have or just sign up for a new account - and be sure to write down the name and password for future use.
If you want to use the account to sync your contacts, email, calendars, etc, then each of your ios devices need to use the same account, otherwise they will be independent of one another.

I can't get itunes to sync some metadata over to my iphone 5. For example, for all of my metadata for Orianthi is correct, but When I choose her on my iphone, it shows thw songs all broken up followed by artwork from AC/DC! So I opened itunes, made sure all metadata was correct and then connected my phone to sync. Nothing. It doesnt change my music on the iphone to match itunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. i have a bunch of songs that i've ripped / downloaded in my itunes account that no matter what i do i can't get it to sync with my ipod...i ripped the cd and it plays fine in itunes but when i look for the songs on my ipod there's only 3 off of the entire cd...any help???

re download the cd and make sure you put them in your library then make a playlist and try to highlight and drag over to your ipod. Also make sure you have the latest version of itunes and quicktime. This should work.

Had to restore, now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod

I had to restore my iPod touch to factory setting when it froze up. Now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod. I get a sceen on iTunes that says "An iPod has been previously synced with this computer." Then there are two choices, "Set Up as a New iPod" or "Restore from the backup of: My iPod". I clicked on both and neither did anything. I can get music, but not apps, to go on the iPod, but I usually add things to the iPod manually. I don't see a way to do this. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new library but it is not something I've personally tested.
When you get it all working, make a backup!

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).
