Can't get Jump Cut to see Beat Markers

I've watched several tutorials. I've tried this in a new project and I can ge it to work. I just can't get it to work in my existing project. I've put the music in the background where it's behind the video clips. I go into Clip Trimmer or what ever it's called and add my beat markers, but when I select the portion of the clip surrounding the beat markers it doesn't split up the clips like it does when I try it in a new project.
I've unchecked the snap menu items under view or edit. Like the snap to ends, snap to beats or whatever.
What am I missing here?
Can I create what I want in one project and copy and paste that combo back into my other project?

This is an AVCHD camera. You need to use the log and transfer function with the correct settings. You should not use iMovie for capture as it captures in an older codec that's not very good. In FCP7 you can capture in ProRes or ProRes LT, both of which are superior.

Does your Mac have a FW 800 port? If it does, use a 4 pin to 9 pin connection. If you have only Thunderbolt, use a FW>Tb adaptor. Either way, your Mac should see the camera. If it does, so will FCP.

Bought a NuPower replacement battery, but can't get my MacBook to see it.

Bought a NuPower replacement battery and installed it. Rebooted and the fans are running at full tilt. Did a SMC reset and a PRAM zap. Shut down. Restarted and the battery icon still has an X in it (no batteries available). Fans are running fast as well (again).
Repeated this a few times, but still can't get the MacBook to see it.

Having problems as well.
It has been less then 48 hours that I have installed the new battery and it's still not charging. It says that I has 51% of charge, but it has not pass that number in the past 48 hours. I have reset the PRAM and SMC and no change.

How can I get iMovie 10 to see my iPhoto Library after I relocated it.

How can I get iMovie 10 to see my iPhoto Library after I relocated it. I moved my iPhoto Library to a secondary hard drive, because my main SSD wasn't large enough. I then upgraded to IMove 10.0.4 and also moved my iMovie Library to the secondary hard drive. When I highlight the iPhoto Library in iMovie there is nothing there. Any ideas on how to get iMove to find my relocated iPhoto Library?

I think I may have solved my own problem. I left cliked on the relocated iPhoto Library and went to "Open with >." I then went to "Other...." I then set the wind located in the bottom labled "Enable:" to "All Applications" and picked iMovie. It gave me a error, but the ultimate result was that iMove now was linked to my iPhoto Library.

Can't get Final Cut to recognize my camera.

I have a Canon VIXIA HF11 High def video camera and I can't get Final Cut Pro to recognize it. I don't have a firewire connection on the camera. It is a USB 2.0. I assume this is the root of the problem. iMovie recognizes the camera and imports the files. Does anyone know of a way to get the files into Final Cut? Thanks!

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

1. There are academic discounts directly from Apple - though I do not know how it will work outside of the US. Google Apple Education and go to the education portion of the apple website.
2&3. You can not purchase any of the applications independently from the whole Studio package or get a reduced price because you will not use one or two of them.
Final Cut Express has a great deal of the functionality of Final Cut Pro but it will work only with DV and HDV video. It does not work with non-standard image sizes/codecs.

How can I get Siri to not see some iCal calendars?

When I ask to see my calendar, Siri shows calendars that I want to supress. I have some iCal calendars with misc info (warranties, medicines, etc.) that I turn off in iCal, off on the phone calendar. But Siri shows me (for ex: "19 meetings"" when I ask to see my calendar. How can I get Siri to avoid those calendars I have turned off elsewhere? Thanks!

If it is your own conference bridge you can create a new contact named "My Bridge" and enter your 1800 number along with a "wait" command and pass code and #. It would look something like this 1-800-555-5555;12345678#. This way when you tell Siri to call "My Bridge" she'll dial and then you'll notice an option in the lower left to dial the pass code. Press that and you're all set. You can do the same for frequent conference bridges you connect to. Hope this helps.

Can't get Final Cut Express to work on my I Mac desktop

I just purchased an I Mac - the first in my life. I simply couldn't get Final Cut express to work on my station cos it keeps telling me I need Accelerated Graphics Port. I wonder what it is. My Mac fulfills all the specs for Final Cut Express to work, but it keeps prompting me that I need the AGP when I click on the icon. If you have any clue and even bette, the remedy, can you please drop me a msg here, thanks!

I guess you purchased the Intel based iMac, but you have Final Cut Express version 3.0 or older. This version is for older Macs based on PowerPC.
If this is the case, as a temporary solution you may simply bypass the AGP error message by pressing ESC when this appears, and then you'll be able to work with FCE 3.0, even though emulated by Rosetta.
The best solution is to upgrade to FCE 3.5 (99$) that is Universal and works natively on Intel.
In any case if you look for AGP in this forum you'll find many posts on this topic.

Can't get my UC320W to see a phoneline

Hello,
I have a UC320w which I am trying to set up for an office. I am currently unable to get the device to see any phonelines, despite being plugged into the master socket of each one. The FXO line simply says "no-service" - I have tried all four ports) and will do no more than that.
I have tried different cables, confirmed the phone line to be good by using an analogue telephone on it and resetting the device back to factory defaults (and rebooting), all to no avail.
Has anyone got any suggestions?

Hi Jamie,
This sounds like you need to load the PMF for FXO overload. This PMF fixes issues with FXO lines not being detected.If you go to

You can download the FXO_Overload_disable.pmf and then go to Status>Devices>Alter PMFs in Configure Utility and apply configuration. This should fix the issue.

Motion and Compressor are separate.
And know, that FCP-X is unlike FCP 7 in just about every way possible. The way it works is vastly different. And you cannot open FCP 7 or 6 projects in it without buying a 3rd party converter.
Now, I hear many people like it...I just wanted you to know that it is VERY different from FCP 7

How can I get the soundcard to create event markers on voltage acquisition

I'm new to Labview and I'm required to create a program that can acquire a voltage.. sounds simple.. the difficult part is that it needs to be able to create event markers on the data to indicate that a sound has occurred.
If I could somehow route the audio input to the trigger channel of my NI DAQcard6024E and set the threshold level it would work, but I can't find a way to do this.
To put it in a real-life scenario... what is happening is that I'm acquiring EEG (brainwave) voltages whilst presenting a series of auditory 'clicks'. We want to examine the changes in EEG that occur in response to these clicks. So I need to have some way of establishing exactly when the sounds were presented on the EEG data.
Hope somebody can help At the moment my VI can acquire voltage data continuously and write the files to excel, but I can't work out how to create event markers for when the stimulus occurred.

I still think it should be possible to make a breakout cable. But I guess the person responsible for the Lab is not a technical person. Or he/she is more concerned about the equipment than the student projects. That is quite common among such personal.
I am also reading you are using a sound card for acquiring EEG. That is a very big NO-NO. This because sound cards are AC coupled. And this will limit the lower bandwidth to about 10Hz. So signals below about 10Hz is filtered out. EEG require a bandwidth from about 0.5Hz to 100Hz.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

First, with the camera connected via firewire to your mac, go to applications: utilities: system profiler and make sure the firewire is showing the camera. If not, it's possible the firewire port is burned out on the camera or on the computer. You can also try swatting out the firewire cable.
HDV is always a little tricky. Make sure your easy setup matches your shooting format. If I remember correctly, the camera may shoot some formats that are not compatible with capturing in fcp. You can usually display the shooting format in the cameras lcd format. Let us know what it is.
When you've matched the fcp easy setup to the format you've shot, quit final cut, start the camera playing with a video signal, and then launch fcp and start log and capture and see if the camera is recognized and if there's video in the log and capture window.

Can not get Final Cut pro to capture HD footage from Canon HV10

Ive had soo much trouble with no success, in trying to get footage from my HD camera into Fina cut Pro HD 4.5. I can get normal dv footage when i cahnge the setting s on the camera, and Final cut pro, but HD is not been possible so far.If any one can inform me of anything, is it possible at all to capture from my camera in HD, do i need Final Cut Pro 5? You need to list the camera you are using, the settings you shot on and the settings on your sequence (easy set up etc)

How can i get my Imac, running OSX 10.6.8 with a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, how can i get Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD studio pro 2 to run on it?

I just bought an IMAC running OSX 10.6.8 (not sure what flavor that is). The processor is 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (Late 2006). When i run Final Cut Pro 4 on it I get the following error.
                    "Configuration error
                       This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing
                                * AGP graphics Card"
If Final Cut Pro 4 doesn't run on my system, what version of Final Cut can I run on this as I am a filmmaker and really am comfortable with Final Cut Pro.
On the same note I also have DVD studio Pro 2 and that just quits without any message.

This is my first mac in a long time so i'm not sure about what this mac is as i didn't buy this from apple (ala Amazon). I'm a tad confused about the Intel/PowerPC thing. I do know the software version for sure, but the Intel/PowerPC is very confusing. I just need to find someone who would know about this question. It doesn't say G5 on this computer.
