Can't get login script to work - tried both prefs and tty methods ...

Calling all you script gurus ...
I'm trying to auto-mount a sparse image on login (why? I got my 17" stolen along with the data - i'm using an encrypted image as my document repository now).
I can't get this simple script to run using either method (modifying the LoginWindow plist OR the apple suggested method of adding the section into the /etc/ttys file.
I've tested the script file from the terminal and all works fine.
Any ideas?

I personally haven't had much success with the '/etc/ttys' method for specifying login hooks either...
On the other hand, the ".plist" method has worked well for me in the past. Just in case you weren't aware, note that the the file for specifying a "login hook" via ".plist" file has changed in "Tiger" compared to "Panther". It was never the "loginwindow.plist", which is used for specifying "Login Items", but rather the "com.apple.loginwindow.plist" file, but unlike "Panther" which used "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist" (a security issue for which Apple was rightly criticized), in "Tiger" Apple wisely changed the location to a more secure directory, ie. "/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist". The current procedures for specifying "login hooks" via ".plist" file can be found in this document:

But as far as mounting a disk image is concerned, adding the mounted volume (rather than a script to mount the disk image) to "Login Items" should be sufficient to initiate the mounting process...

If you format it for the iPhone, it'll also work on the AppleTV. What you can't do is create a file using the high resolution mode of the AppleTV that will work on the iPhone.

With iCloud on the phone, you will need to remove the account, then add it back in with the new address. It is a bit awkward, but the only way to change the AppleID for the iCloud account login is to delete the account then add it back with the new credentials. You won't loose anything as the iCloud account is still the same one, you just need to re-associate the AppleID credentials for it on the iPhone.

Can't get my facetime to work with my mac and my wifes i phone touch

my face time does not work with my macbook connecting to my wifes i phone touch and we are in the same room she calls me my mac rings then cuts straight off. My mac will not connect to hers at all

Out of curiosity, are you trying to connect each device using the same account? If so, the devices may be getting confused on which one it's calling from and which one it should be trying to contact. You'd need two separate accounts/numbers in order for this to work.
For example my Macbook Pro's factime connection is using [email protected] as a host, and my iPhone is using it's cell number xxx-xxx-xxxx. If I click on my number from my Macbook Pro, it rings my iPhone for a Facetime. Or if I tap on my email address (associated with Facetime for the Macbook Pro) from my iPhone, it starts the Facetime and my Macbook Pro will ring.
If this is not the right answer, please respond with more detail on how you have your connection set up.

I can't get this script to work with the XML stype jsp tags. It keeps telling me the <jsp> tags are untermintaed. Is there a special trick to fix this or do I have to use the non-XML type tags?

How can I get Activity Monitor to work?

I've searched the discussions to no avail, so I have this question: how can I get Activity Monitor to work? It launches and its window opens but then the spinning beachball appears. I've checked the Console and it shows that the Activity Monitor is attempting to fully launch but then it "exits" and then it tries to fully start up again, goes into an infinite loop or something. Issued a "force quit" succesfully. I've deleted the Activity Monitor's .plist, no joy. What to do? Thanks!

There is something wrong in your settings. As the settings for each email provider are different you need to check your email server's web site for instructions. Most now have specific instructions for the iPhone. Also see Apple's instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1385

As AT&T has not officially unlocked your phone it must have been hacked to use another carrier. So when you updated it has relocked itself to AT&T. There is no official unlock so this will happen anytime you update.

i can't get my ichat to work. I made an aol login but it says my password is incorrect, which i know it is not. I have a MobileMe but i can't remember the password to that. Every time I try to change my password it just changes my msn address on apple id. I have ox s lion operating system but, I couln't get the ichat to work before that either. I can use facetime tho.

If you created an AIM Name here then can you now Login Here > https://settings.aim.com/
AIM allow some other characters that alphanumeric ones but these are limited to ! @ # and the . (full stop/dot)
Is it possible that you have used other characters in the password ?
If you created an AOL Login have you used the full name ([email protected]) in the name in iChat ?
AIM never tell you directly that it is the Password.
You can get to infer it is the password when compared to other messages but it does normally refer to "Name or Password". (I just want to check that is what you are seeing)

Checking your Own Computer
Open Keychain Access in the Applications/Utilities folder
Have the Login item to left highlighted
Have the Passwords items listed if using lion lower left
Check the list on the right for your MobileMe name. It may possibly listed with an Cloud icon or the "A" created by ther pen brush and ruler icon.
It may also get listed twice or more if you have tried different passwords and asked for them to be saved.
Double click one.
In the new Panel that open change to the Access tab and check iChat is in the list if using Allow Specific items.
Return to the Attributes tab
Tick the Show Password box (Dialogue biox appears needing your Mac User Password and to Allow Once
If this password is correct then delete any other entries.
If incorrect then check others and edit one if required.
(I am hoping you will see one you recognise)
The iForgot site can be used to change the password.
It requires you have access to the linked email you used.
Or that you remember the security questions that you gave for the MobileMe name.
(Presumably you know your Date of Birth which you also get asked. )

That isn't possible. Firefox's AppleScript dictionary doesn't contain anything which can be used to manage JavaScripts.
