Can't get Mail to "Stop Speaking"

Suddenly, earlier this evening, while composing an email message, Apple Mail started talking. Every few words it says “capitalization.” That’s the only word it speaks. I tried the Edit Menu>Speech>Stop Talking to no avail. Now it just did it here—while I was typing this very message—it said “capitalization” again. I’ve also checked my Sys Prefs and I can’t find anything to turn off the speaking thing. Help! It’s driving me crazy!!!
NO! NO! I’m not going to capitalize that! OR THAT!! OR THAAAAT!!!!!! ARRRUGGGUHHHH!!!!!
Thank you for any help you can give me. I really, really need it. And I’m not capitalizing that, either!

In System Preferences / General make sure the Restore Windows ...... is unchecked.

Can't get mail to stop correcting spelling

This has changed recently. I have set Spellchecking in Mail > Preferences to Never but it still corrects what it thinks are mistakes as I press space after a word. For example, ppi (pixels per inch) is always changed to pip.
I know that CMND + ; will do a spell check (which is how I want Mail to work, manually). I have restarted my iMac, pulled the mains plug, waited for 20 seconds then restarted. No cure.
Should I delete Mail and re-install? If so, where do I get Mail?
This fault is making Mail unusable.

I can't get mail to stop regarding friend's emails as junk

I add her email to address book, but no joy! It goes straight to the junk folder, but it doesn't get marked as junk, so I can't press "not junk mail". If I mark it as junk, then mark it as not, it still doesn't work! Any clues, friends?

Just to check, you've checked the box that says to ignore people in your address book? If it is checked, uncheck it, quit, restart, and recheck it, see if that helps.
Also, look closely at your rules, see if there's one in there that is causing this.

Can't get iChat to stop speaking IM text

Before Leopard I was able to get iChat to announce when I received a message, i.e., "You have a message from <Buddy's name>". I don't have " Voiceover turned on, but if I check the alerts in iChat to announce when I get an IM, it actually speaks the text. Very annoying. Any idea how to just get a message announcement? What you probably have then is a .plist - that holds the info - made when you had iChat 3 that is conflicting slightly with the iChat 4 info.
AS you have turned the Setting Off has it changed the action when you turn it On again ?
The .plist this is held in is com.apple.ichat.plist and this is held in /Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences which you will have to go to manually as Spotlight does not search here.
Apple seem to have hidden away the actual bit that does the Speaking which is probably based on a text file and an AppleScript.
iChat 3 kept the text in the .plist to some extent as you could change it (or it referred to the default)
Now TextEdit can be made to Open the .plist with the Finder's Open With option but in Tiger and Leopard this tends to be mostly unreadable.
Quick Look can be used to look at the .plist and it is full of < bits and > bits with comments in them and subsequent closing statements.
Editing would be best and this can be done if you have Installed Developers Tools as an option from your Install Disk.
The reason for the delay is that you can delete com.apple.ichat.plist but it will also lose every other setting you have made in the iChat Preferences...

When i turn on my Mac all of my apps pop up randomly. How can I get them to stop popping up?

There is only one thing that happens -- the Server does not respond.
Your mac concludes that you must have entered the wrong password. That may happen once, but then other issues become more likely, and it keeps asking for a new password.
Sometimes the Server is down for maintenance. Sometimes something is configured wrong. Some services do this on purpose to get you to use WebMail (pick up your Mail with your Browser) so they can show you some ads.

Im having the same problem, I updated my Iphone 4S to 6.1.3, shortly after that my phone had no audio. It was working fine one minute and then stopped. Was listening to music when sound gave out on me. It wont ring, phone just vibrates even after turning off vibration option. I've tried all the options listed and nothing. My phone has never been jailbroken either. If I connect the earphones is works perfectly. On one of my last calls received, phone's ringtone was heard for about 2 seconds before muting and just vibrating. Ringtone sounded perfect, speakers did not sound damaged.
What else could be done? I've read several post regarding this and it seems like Apple has no solution to this yet. Very dissappointed.

One of my iCloud accounts can't get mail

I have 2 iCloud accounts, with Mail.app on my Mac configured to check them both from my main user account. The primary email address is fine. The other one has problems. It used to be a Mac.com additional address (not an alias), the kind that used to cost $10 extra. I converted it to an iCloud address when I moved to iCloud, and it has mostly worked until recently. I'd get the occasional spinning gear next to the mailbox, but mail would eventually show up. Today, The spinning gear is non-stop, and the account can't get mail. To check, I tried to log in to iCloud online with this account, and the same thing happens, endless spinning gear. What is going on, and how can I fix this?

I am having this problem too, I called Apple about it and was told they were having server problems, some were working and still some werent, My server...p04-smtp.mail.me.com , is one of those that is still screwed, I was told that it shouldnt be very long til its fixed but if its not tomorrow, to call back. its something that we cant do anything about

I use yahoo mail for my mail acct. In yahoo mail I have the sent mail folder turned off. I do not want to save my sent messages. This used to work on my Itouch but now with my new Iphone it is saving the sent messages. How can I get this to stop? I have been through all the settings and can't figure it out. Not sure how this used to work on your iPod Touch since there is no setting for an email account preferences to not save sent messages. With an IMAP account, there is an option to store sent messages on the server, or locally on the iPhone. There is no do not save sent messages setting, and the same for the email account preferences with a POP account.

Something else you can try.
In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.

Remote app - constantly reconnecting, can't get it to stop

Any ideas?
I took the Remote app for a dry run, and everything worked fine - I really like it.
Next, I bought an Airport Express. I'm still working out problems, but that's another post in another area...
The problem now is, I can get iTunes playing through the AE to my stereo, but the Remote app is constantly reconnecting to iTunes. I can't get it to stop this procedure.
I hear music, and in the half second between reconnects, I can use the Remote app to advance to the next song. It reconnects all the time, though, every 5 seconds maybe, making browsing through playlists or albums impossible.
Also, I've tried the "Stay Connected" both on and off, but neither makes any difference.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Well - after reading through the abundant suggestions... not...
I've ditched the ad hoc network treatment, and switched to a wireless access point for my airport express. So far (this afternoon only), I am no longer having this problem.
I'll mark the question answered.

You've got to be freakin' kidding me. I'm in Brazil, I accidentally started a 2.2GB download that it says will take 592 minutes to download, and there's no way I can stop it and download something else until that first download finishes? I would have thought it was unthinkable 15 years ago that anyone would build an app that downloads things but doesn't allow the option of canceling the download, but in this day and age? So much for Apple making intuitive, user-friendly products.

Or better yet, create and use new Apple IDs for others in your household. You could always use different Apple IDs for iCloud services (like iMessage and FaceTime) and iTunes and App Store., but it's even easier to share purchased content now with Family Sharing.
