Can't get messages from iPhone user on my android
I have recently swapped my iPhone for an android but still have I pad. I am not receiving messages from friends with I phones. Any ideas?

Be aware, changing your Apple ID password doesn't always work, & can take up to 45 days to work.

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 after owning an iPhone 4s. All my contacts transferred but now I can't receive text messages from iPhone users to my android device. I read that I have to make sure that my Apple id is totally deleted. How do I do that?

Still can't receive messages from Iphone Users
Greetings,
I know there are many topics asking similar questions if it's googled, and I think I have read through almost all of them to no prevail. I know veterans of these boards probably get tired of seeing the same topics, but im desperate and will try to keep it quick. I really appreciate any help.
I recently upgraded from a 4S to a Galaxy S5 and have not been able to receive messages from Iphone users since. I still have my old Iphone. Here are the steps I've tried:
1) Ensure "IMessage" is disabled in my old phone
2) Unregistered my phone number with my Apple ID. I currently have no phone numbers registered with them
3) Changed my Apple ID Password
4) Unregistered my Iphone with my ITunes Account.
5) I also have a Macbook Air and a 2010 model IMac. I have also ensured I am signed out on those devices and my phone number isn't linked in anyway I could find.
6) I called Apple 3 Days ago and the representitive was very nice and professional but ultimately was incorrect. He advised me that the new IoS7 is more advanced and should check about every 12 hours to see if the user on the other end has an active IMessage account. He said to wait 24 hours just to be safe. He also advised people running older IOS systems could take up to 3-4 days to contact me correctly. Furthermore he said if after that time frame their phones still sent me IMessages instead of SMS then THEY were having problems and should call Apple. I just really doubt that is the case.
I have tested it out with 5 Iphones now with help from some friends, all running IOS7 and still no luck 3 days after the phone call to Apple.
7) I tried logging back into IMessage today on my Macbook and it worked, I was still able to send and receive texts from Iphone users. This seems like it should not be possible since it is not linked to my phone number anymore. It is logged into the same Email that I used to have linked to my phone number.
Now as others have said, If I have them hold down the bubble and send as text message 3 times their phone will remember and keep sending my texts, however that is unreasonable to ask everyone to do. There should just be a way to completely delete your Apple ID. Is there anything I'm possibly overlooking? I really appreciate any help.I am right there with you. This describes my problem to a T. Only other issue I am having is group texts. Iphone users who include me in a group text still send as imessages as well, so even if I text them first and they reply, it send as an imessage. Get it together apple.

Yes I turned iMessage off and yes I could receive my daughters messages, but my two other daughters and a few friends had iPhones, so I didn't get their messages. My problem is now fixed, I tried to send a message to my daughter and it came up undelivered, so I pressed the red exclamation mark to the right of the undelivered message and it gave me the option to try again, send as a text message or cancel. So I pressed send as a text message and my daughter received it, I tried again and message undelivered, so again I pressed the exclamation mark and went through the same process as before. I thought what a pain but did a third and now my iphone does not recognise her phone number as an iphone. So your husband would have to do this with his iphone and I am confident it will work, and me as an iphone user can keep iMessage switched on. Hope this helps.

If you no longer have access to your iPhone, you will need to contact Apple for help deactivating your phone number from their iMessage system so those with iPhones will send normal text messages to your phone number instead of iMessages.

If you experience any of these symptoms, you may want to deactivate iMessage:
You can't receive SMS on your non-Apple device when another person sends them using an iPhone.
You can't send SMS to a non-Apple device because they send as an iMessage.
Resolution
If you experienced the symptoms above, your cellular phone number may still be registered with iMessage. When you turn iMessage on with your iPhone, iMessage registers your cellular telephone number.
To deregister your phone number, tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.
If you can't deactivate iMessage after you perform the steps above or you can't access the iPhone, please contact Apple Support. -
Galaxy s5 not receiving messages from iphone users
Ok so sorry about the long question but I just bought a galaxy s5 to replace my iphone 4s and im having trouble getting messages from iphone users. I tried turning off imessage, turned off find my iphone, resetting the device completely, and even created a new apple id but nothing has worked in the past 6 hours. The only thing I have left is to contact apple support but I really dont want to spend $20 to talk to someone if I dont have to... Any help at this point will be apprectiated. Thanks
At the risk of repeating some information, I'm leaving a full message here because I found many of the suggestions above to be vague and confusing. This is a step by step of the call that I just put in to Apple to fix this issue with Samsung S5 Galaxies not getting text messages from iPhones. This process should only be necessary if you no longer have possession of your iPhone; if you do, it seems from messages above you can go into your iPhone's settings and turn off iMessage yourself.
NOTE: According to Victoria, the Apple rep who was familiar with the problem and (supposedly, within the next half hour to 24 hours) fixed the problem, iPhone users who have updated to IOS 7.1.1 --not just 7.1, but the 7.1.1 specifically -- will not have this issue, as 7.1.1 fixed the issue causing this disconnect. However, any iPhone user operating under 7.1 or previous systems will not be able to send an S5 Galaxy user a text without an elaborate and individualized process to remove the former iPhone user's iMessage link. So, here's what I did:
1. Called Apple Support at 800-694-7466 (I could not find the section headings/descriptions mentioned by FoxFifth above on the website listed; the sections did not match anything on the page linked to that supplied url)
2. Followed the prompts, which involved giving my phone number (the one now linked to my Galaxy S5 but formerly to my iPhone 4s) and verbally requesting a representative at the appropriate time after the appropriate prompt. NOTE: disregard the warning about a $19 one-time service charge; it will not apply once you speak to someone.
3. Wait for a rep.
4. When the rep answers, say, "I just upgraded from my iPhone (4, 4s, 5, etc.) to a Samsung Galaxy S5 and can no longer receive texts from other iPhone users. I found online that this is because my iMessage is still turned on and I need you to deactivate my iMessage that automatically sends other iPhone users' messages to that old phone, which I no longer have."
5. The rep, who -- if they are anything like Victoria, who said she's done this "quite a lot today, actually" -- will recognize your issue. The rep will send you a text message to your new device, which contains an alphanumeric code that you must read back to the rep to authenticate it. At that time, the rep will put in your iMessage deactivation request; it should (here's fingers crossed) become active within 24 (some users here say 48, so be patient) hours, at which time the problem should disappear.
I hope this is detailed enough to help everyone else out there. Based on the Apple rep's familiarity with my problem, I'm hopeful the process will work as promised. I will update when I know for sure after a day or two that it is (or isn't) working. -

Sounds like you didn't deactivate iMessage on your iPhone before you switched over. You will need to talk to Apple Support

Anyone who I had previously used iChat with, can no longer send me texts now that I have had to downgrade back to a 3Gs.
Lost my Iphone 4g, hooked up old 3gs, can't get messages from people who have me registered with ichat.
My carrier (Rogers) says they have nothing they can do about it.
