Can't get movies in slideshow to export smoothly to iMovie or iDVD

Hello there,
I'm working in PAL format, with my slide size at 1280x720. I have a slide with a movie playing at full size in the background with type transitions over the top. The transitions are fine, but the movie is choppy. Reducing it in size on the slide helps, but it's not what I want.
The background movie was created in Photo to Movie, Apple Intermediate codec, 25 fps, High quality export. I've been trying other settings, but the end result is always the same.
Has anyone tried this, or found a way around it?
Thanks.

Look at the [post here by lori_diloreto|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3836266] and click to see her music settings diagrams. You probably just need to drag the little dot down.
Regards.

I can not get movies to transfere from my computer to my IPad,  I am using Window 7 64 byt and have down loaded the lastest version of Itunes from Itunes.  It will act like it is getting ready to sync (just like it did in the past) and then it stops

Ok, I searched system profiler and opened it up and I see the word firewire listed but that's all. I honestly have no idea what this is supposed to look like or what I should be looking for. Thanks again.
Did you click on the Firewire word? What do see to the right of it?
If you see something like the picture and nothing below the "Maximum speed" line, then the camera is not being "seen" by your mac. Otherwise a description of the camera should appear in the right pane.

Is the manually manage music and videos option still selected from under the iPod's Summary tab?  What happens when you try to drag files over to your iPod Classic?

Maybe try one of the WiFi transfer Apps?  There are several to choose from. I use Photosynch quite often to send photos and videos between my computer(s), my iPhone, and iPad.

  • I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).

I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).  I'm running iMovie 09 v. 8.0.6 on a iMac with OSX v 10.6.8, 2Ghz core duo, 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.  Any ideas why?

That particular error comes up for a number of reasons, sometimes it's the size of the movie you're trying to export. Bengt Wärleby a longtime contributor to the iMovie Discussion Group has advised a number of people on this error code, so I am going to link to his latest advice he's given to anyone trying to export to DVD from iMovie: Bengt's tips for great DVDs.
Specifically, try bypassing Share to iDVD by using Share to Media Browser instead.
In the Share to Media Browser dialog box choose the Large Size.
When(If?) it gets through that process, quit iMovie altogehter then go to iDVD.
Create a new project and click on the Media button near the lower right hand side of the Project Window.
Then click the Movies button in the Browser window just above that.
Under the iMovie star icon you should see the name of the project you shared out from iMovie.
Drag that into the project and burn the DVD.
If it's still to large or you get the same -2125 error code trying to Share using the Medium size instead. But again if you really get stuck consult Bengt Warleby's User tips:

  • Can't get movie to loop

Hi. I made a slideshow in iPhoto, then shared it into iDVD. I want the slideshow to start automatically when the disk is inserted in the DVD player, and also to loop continuously, so I dropped the movie into the autoplay square in the DVD map. Somewhere along the way I also selected "loop" from the advanced window. I thought I was all set, so I burned the DVD. The disk plays automatically, but at the end of the first run through, it seems to go to the "Revolution" menu screen, rather than looping back through. Any thoughts on what I might have done wrong? The "inspector" doesn't have any box (checked or unchecked) for "loop"; from what I've read there should be a "loop" option here, no?
    Thanks very much!

Go to the map view. Click on the autoplay box and it will turn blue.
Click on the i at the bottom left of the iDVD window. This will bring up the information window where you can select loop for that box.

  • Can't get "movies" in my iTunes onto my Apple TV (1st generation)...

I have a series of videos of differing lengths that are in my iTunes Movies folder/category. They play in iTunes with no problem, but many will not appear on my Apple TV.
I've tried highlighting them and clicking Advanced-Create iPad or Apple TV Version, but I get an error message stating "Filename" could not be converted because this file does not allow saving or conversion.
These videos are from various sites and are in various formats (some mpeg 4, some .mov). I downloaded them legally and have the right to have them.
What is causing this? How can I get them onto my Apple TV hard drive so I can play them?

the appletv will only display media in formats it support
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs/
    Video Formats
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Can't Get Movies to Play!!!! Please Help!!!!

I received a 32GB iPod Touch yesterday as a gift. I also recently bought the movie The Hangover and downloaded the Digital Copy into iTunes. I can watch the movie in iTunes, but it will not play on my iPod Touch. It shows that it is on my iPod Touch, but when I click on it, it says "The movie could not be played". I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong or if you are having the same problem? Everything else on my iPod is working great! Also, i synced the movies to my old iPod and the movies work (My battery just does not last long at all on my old one.) I have a 14 hour flight Thursday morning so I would really appreciate being able to watch movies and having something to do haha! Thanks for the help!

Didn't you just ask this same question a half hour ago?
You do not need to keep posting the same question. Your fellow ipod answer as their time and ability to help allow.

  • Can't get my samsung sc-d353 to work on imovie 09'

I have a samsung sc-d353 camcorder and I can't get the video to convert to imovie 09' how can i fix this?

Your camera is very confusing. It appears to use a proprietary Samsung format called SMP4. But it also appears to have a Firewire connection.
It would be worth a try to get a firewire cable and connect to your camcorder through that. Firewire (IEEE1394) is a standard, and no special drivers are needed. If your Mac has Firewire 400, then you need a 6 pin to 4 pin FW Cable. If you have a newer Mac with only a FW800 port, you need a 9 pin to 4 pin FW cable.
If that does not work, [see this long conversation about converting the SMP4|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7892755]

  • Import files into iDVD from iMovie OR export files from iMovie to iDVD?

I've been told it is better to import iMovie projects into iDVD (within iDVD) rather than exporting from iMovie to iDVD within iMovie. I was told that iDVD does a better job of rendering things than iMovie. Is this true because this is not the instructions given in the iMovie tutorial.

Not sure what advice you have been given and how you have interpreted it.
You are of course referring to im6 here since you can't drag projects from im08 to iDVD.
I don't make many DVD's anymore and may well be wrong here but I'm not aware that dragging an im6 project to iDVD is any different than using share/iDVD and I'm wondering if the advice relates to exporting from im6 and then importing the exported movie into iDVD which is indeed a different workflow.

  • Can't get Movie Exported in Quicktime format to work in iWeb and Website

Help!! I just completed a movie in iMovie and exported it in Quicktime Format. It loads into iWeb seamlessly, and I can view it in iweb, but once I save the files to a folder and then the folder to my host (Godaddy, for what it is worth) I get the Blue Quicktime Q with the question mark in the middle. I have downloadd the movie in different sizes, from as much as 19 Mb down to 4.5 Mb and it is all the same. It is for a real estate listing I have. For what it is worth. I created my first website in iweb 1.0 and imovie 06 (http:www.1055Prince.info) and it works great. I created my second website with iweb 2.0 and imovie 08 (http:www.1045Prince.info) and it will not work. I like the design of the 2.0 template better, but I like the fact that the 1.0 template is working flawlessly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

iWeb writes very clever page code and your page had a very common error.
http://www.1045prince.info/VideoTour_files/VideoTour.js is a file created by iWeb that points to your QuickTime file.
If you use the Finder to edit the name prior to Publishing in iWeb things will be just fine and the link will work as designed. Do not edit any file name before uploading to your server and make sure your files use "Web safe" naming schemes (no spaces, punctuation or illegal characters) and the proper file extension.

  • Can't Get Movies Exported

Every time I try and export my movies imovie closes out.
=\ I've gotten all the updates as far as I know and my computer is brand new.

Are you saying that iMovie crashes when you try to export? If so, there might be some corruption to the iMovie plist preference file> User>Library>Preferences>com.apple.imovie.plist
You might try trashing that file then restarting iMovie and trying again. Wouldn't hurt to repair permissions too.
Another trouble shoot method is to create a new user account and try the export from there.

  • Can't get movie out of FCP

Hi, I have just created a fairly simple 75-minute movie in FCP 7, and for the life of me, I can't send it to Compressor to make files for creating a DVD. Compressor will do its thing for a few hours, then "Failed". Then out of curiosity, I tried to export it to a simple Final Cut Movie (not 'self-contained') and all I got was spinning pie. I just don't know what to try to get this movie out of FCP! Any suggestions would be most welcome.
    Thanks, Bob
    MacPro  10.6.6

It will be useful if you give us some specifics.
What is the codec of the source media? H.264, HDV, DVCProHD or ? (Quicktime is not a codec. It is a wrapper that can support a wide range of codecs.)
Where is the media stored? System hard drive, second internal drive, external firewire drive, or ?
What are the timeline setttings? What codec is it using?
Your explaination of your process is very unclear. Have you tried exporting the project using "Current settings" and "self contained". Then take that file into Compressor.
