Can't get my iMessage and FaceTime to work with Yosemite

Hi all I am trying to fix iMessage and FaceTime since updating to Yosemite. Basically I cannot seem to login into either of them - keeps telling me to register when I already was on Mountain Lion. Calling up Apple support is £35. Pls help. Thx

Hey EDneedhelp,
I see that you may be experiencing some issues with your ability to log in to FaceTime and iMessage on iOS 8. I have an article that explains the troubleshooting steps for addressing these issues, and it can be found below:

I just hit the home key very fast 3 times and it worked. Glad to see that someone suggested this to another person with a mini. My gremlins are all gone.  Yea to the forum .......Marci 73361

  • HT3529 Can't get my iMessage or FaceTime to work on my iPad

I've had an iPad since march and since then I haven't been able to get it to work and I don't no why it isn't working, I sign in and that works fine but then it goes to the Email thing and I press next and just says verifying for 2 minutes then stops and goes back to the sign in page and if you try to do it again the same thing keeps happening every time.... I don't know what to do ...

  • Can't get my iMessage or Facetime to work !

I try setting up my iMessage and Facetime on my iPod touch, and I go to verify my account, but it just goes right back to my log in screen and won't let me no matter what I do. I've tried changing the DSN number like some people suggested, but it still did the same thing, I'm getting frustraded, Anyone know what I could do to get it working?

  • IMessages and FaceTime not working with os x update?

i just updated my macbook to osx and now my iMessages and FaceTime will not open.  I immediately get a message that the program has quit unexpectedly and that I can submit the problem to apple. Any suggestions for ways to fix this??? My internet also seems to be crashing super frequently and I have to force quit. I just did the update yesterday and have already had so many problems with it!

This problem has seemed to work itself out.  I wrote a comment about what happened in the comments section of the form that is submitted to apple when a program quits unexpectedly...not sure if that helped or not, just glad that my programs are up and working again!

  • IMessage and FaceTime not working with phone number.

    Hi guys,
I've had this issue for days. My iMessage had been linked with my email. So I sign out of "my Apple ID" to enable me select my phone number as my preferred option for use. Unfortunately, I have my former phone number (which does not exist anymore) in grey and not my present phone number. So I'm stuck with my old contact and my email address for iMessage and FaceTime. I have tried toggling iMessage off and on, it keeps me on "waiting for activation" mode, deducts some airtime for SMS charge but still goes back to "iMessage unsuccessful".
Guys what can I do to link my active phone number to my iMessage and FaceTime.

    Hello Walidou,
I've gone through the text, thanks. But it doesn't give me a solution still. It says if after waiting for activation for 24hours it doesn't still work, then contact apple support. You see it still brings me back here.
Infact, as I'm writing this my airtime is still being deducted as SMS is being automatically sent to some random number like "+447537410257"

  • HT5538 Hi there. I have tried everything to make iMessage and FaceTime to work with my number but it won't let me do it. I am moreover concerned as I have another sim forum my same carrier and it works fine with iMessage and FaceTime. I I really need help

Hi I have tried all the tricks from the support to have iMessage and FaceTime running but it is impossible for me to activate these apps with my phone number. Problem is I have another sim from the same carrier and I am able to do it on that one.
I am desperate for a help!
    Thanks a lot

Can you make phone calls on the phone that won't activate?   Is it only iMessage and Facetime that isn't working?   What about data - can you access the internet?
Your last statement didn't make much sense to me:  " I still can have the apps working but only from an email"
    Pls explain that clearly.

  • New phone - iMessage and Facetime not working with number?

I had a 4s and recently got a 5s, and now iMessage on my Mac only has my email as an option. My phone number is the same. I searched around for a solution, and one involved signing out and back into both iMessage and Facetime on my Mac, so I did, and now Facetime has the same problem. I really do not want to log into my Apple ID in iMessages on my phone because I tried that a few days ago and had all kinds of problems with sending and receiving messages. Currently, my phone is sending and receiving with my phone number, which is checked but also grayed out in Settings. I am running OS X 10.8.3. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you did the first part of the following. Thus it seems yo have to try the second parts evenought you do not want o signout on the iPhone
Phone number missing on OS X
If your phone number isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of OS X on your Mac.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
If your phone number still isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign out of your Apple ID on your Mac at the following locations:

FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and also in Settings > FaceTime.

  • How do I get my imessage and Facetime to work?

I have all updated software (iOS 5.0.1) on my 4th gen ipod touch but Facetime and imessage won't work.
I have a hotmail Apple ID account, could this be why it won't work?

  • Why is my iMessage and FaceTime not working with ios 7?

I just updated my iphone 5 to ios 7 and it's not letting me use FaceTime or iMessage. It's saying it's still activating. I'm afraid if I reset I will lose everything, but is there any other way to fix it?

    Hi there,
both services send a silent SMS (one that is not listed anywhere on your device) containing a configuration request to an Apple server. This server then responds with the needed configuration details. It can take some (from a few minutes to several hours) time for this answer to come. Also if for whatever reason text send/receive is not working properly, iOS can get stuck on the "waiting for activation" message.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

Just downloaded Mountain Lion onto my Macbook pro, when I try to add my iMessage account to messages or log in to FaceTime, a window pops up saying the server encountered a problem processing registration. How do I fix this? The simpler the explanation the better, thanks.

I spoke with Apple Support this morning and they believe anything MobileMe related is due to the conversion over to iCloud that's taking place.
As for other email clients, check with your host to see if settings have changed on their end. I use inmotionhosting.com and over the weekend the updated their outgoing requirements so that a password authentication is now needed.
Hope that helps get some on the right path to resolving their issues!

Have you tried re-booting your WiFi router ?  It may seem OK on your PC, but a re-boot may help.
