Can't get my iPhone back on...
Hi —
I'm trying to find out what happens when an iPhone is disconnected from it's mobile operator's network, when a contract is terminated or the number is ported across to another phone. I have a company iPhone which I need to give back as I'm leaving the job. Before I gave it back, I wanted to sync it so I could delete all the music, photos and apps from it.
Unfortunately when I was trying to sync, iTunes seemed to hang for ages with a spinning beach ball. So I force quit iTunes but it happened again, so I force quit again and then unplugged my iPhone. It wouldn't respond so I tried to restart it. Now all I get is the silver Apple logo on a black background for about a minute, then the screen goes black. What I want to know is this a problem with the phone because of the iTunes crash or is it because the phone has been disconnected from the mobile operator?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Apologies for not searching the Apple support site properly first. Seemed I had to restore the phone from scratch which I'm doing now. Hopefully this will resolve the issue before I hand it back!

Please help me, I am verging on desperation! I am flying tomorrow, so I was only trying to add some music to my iPhone.
During the process, connected to the latest version of iTunes for Windows, I was asked a seemingly innocent question-- would you like to
update your iTunes for iPhone? If only I could go back and ignore this question,
But no, I am now stuck in purgatory-- no use of iPhone, at al! -- the upgrade FAILED. Perhaps because I'm in Asia? At any rate,
I was told that I needed to reformat my phone to factory settings (losing all data!) That was the info on the pc. My phone would ONLY display
a phone cord pointing to iTunes (beckoning to connect), but I was connected to the pc already. So I had to click to reformat.
There was no other option, I browsed tha forums, was semi-assured that iCloud would help back me up. I heard about iTools,
but that also proved a dead end. My phone ended up in this grey screen, where choices are limited. They originally asked if I wanted to connect
with iTunes, but I chose WIFI. I tried many times to "activate" the phone this way, and it always fails. ( I wanted to try activating through
iTunes, but I can't go back to that original option. At times "Connect with iTunes" is only very briefly shown, but disappers before I can select
it.)
Every time I'm left with the message "Your iPhone (failed) bec. the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting phone to iTunes"
But HOW?Why did you disconnect it?
You will have to restore it.
Your data is gone if you failed to make sure it was on your computer before updating, as you always should you. -
I lost my iPhone device, how can I get my data back on another one without using an iCloud backup just back up on i Tunes, Please Help.??
You can find the backup files and then copy them to a safe place if you are worrying about this.
iTunes places the backup files in these places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK. -
my iphone is broken, and i came to store to change a new one today. When I come home, I found I lost my backup and may be mistake is made during before backup. The information in my previous iphone is really important for me? how can I get the backup back?
If you don't have a backup then the only possible solution is to go back to the store and see if they can get your old phone and create a backup of that. I know very often that Apple employees will wipe the returned iPhones clean before shipping them back to wherever they ship them.
When you say your old phone was "broken" does this mean it is dead and won't turn on?
Do you have a Time Machine backup of your computer, or a clone that might have this info on it?
Other than that I hate to say you may be out of luck. Time Machine and/or a cloning program performed regularily will inevitably save your a** in situations like this.
Good luck

i downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id on my ipad to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my old ipad apple id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?
It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID. The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly). If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

I was updating my software on my iphone 4 and it crashed so it recovered it and i restored it from its back up. However I have lost all my music and my apps but not my pictures. How can i get my music back. I did not remove my phone from the computer until it had said it had finsihed.
Media and apps are not part of the backup. They need to be re-synced from your itunes library or re-downloaded from the store.

Have you checked to see if the media files are still on the computer? See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

My iphone 5 does not turn on anymore. when i plug the charger in the apple icon turns on and off but the home screen never shows up.what do i do to fix it? how can i get my info back?
from the information you provided i can't tell if it is a hardware problem or a software problem. I do have an idea though, try to press your home button and lock button at the same time.

By any chance, did you have the Find My iPhone app installed prior to it being stolen?
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
Hopefully you had your iTunes purchases backed up to an external source such as an external drive or CD's? -
Can you get your photos back after the iphone does a restore
Can you get your photos back after the iphone does a restore?
Actually, wrong.
The tech support people can help with Playbook purchased apps. If you've called and they said they cannot, you were lied to.
Even in the link you posted, in #10, it states clearly "App Refund related matters are handled by BlackBerry Customer Care." That, my friend is accessed by the support number. Again, if you were told otherwise, you should inform them of such or ask for a manage/supervisor.
And, you don't have a "Partner ID" because you are not a "Partner". The section you're referring to applies to mobile providers, which are the Partners.
Good luck.

Hi,
I wanted to unlock my at&t iphone 3gs that i had for 3 years. i was told to back up the data on my phone and then restore it as new. now i don't have any data i had before it was restored. how can i get that data back onto my iphone 3gs? can i put that data on my ipad?Is it an iTunes backup or an iCloud backup? If iTunes, connect the iPhone, right click on the name of the iPhone under the DEVICES section in iTunes. Click on Restore from Backup.
If iCloud, on the iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. When the device powers back on, you will see the original setup screens you saw when your iPhone was fresh out of the box. One of these screen asks you if you want to restore. Choose Restore from iCloud backup. -
i was updating software and suddenly my IPHONE started asking for I tunes on mobile screen , how can i get by screen back or How i can restore without loosing data , I m more worried about data , Please help in resolutio
What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it
