Can't get my mail, but can send it

For some reason I cannot get email from my server.  I have been in touch with my server and all of my connections are correct.  I can send emails, just cannot get them.
I do not have a problem getting or sending emails on my iPhone or iPad.

Hello noelmac,

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Mail and Google Business Apps - can get incoming mail but not send

I'm using the mac mail client for 3 different accounts - one regular gmail account, and 2 Google Business App addresses that are like [email protected]
2 of these accounts are working and have always worked fine: the regular gmail, and one of the business app accounts
But my newest one can recieve mail, but cannot send mail OUT. I've looked at my settings and compared them to Google's over and over, and compared them to the other business account that works. They are all set up correctly. ALL of the settings are set up the way they  should be.
Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Using Outlook can no longer read mail but can send

I have 4 computers all running Outlook and all has been working great for years, until I got new Verizon Jetpacks.
I am not able to receive incoming mail but I can send on a Vista machine
My 2 XP computers work great
My Windows 7 machine now works after someone suggested a change to the Jet pack settings
My Vista still does not work even with the setting change
    Help please...

    Hi Stewartslanding,
Check the incoming server settings and their authentication for layers. Maybe you have assigned it wrong. If you found them accurate, then change the IPv6 into IPv4 because older versions of Outlook do not compatible with IPv6.
    Hope this will help you!!!!!

  • Can't get Postfix Mail working - can you help?

Hi - I've been trying to get Postfix mail working on my Mac Mini (running Moutain Lion v10.8.3). I need to use it to send Mail from PHP ..
I followed the instructions I found here:
    http://benjaminrojas.net/configuring-postfix-to-send-mail-from-mac-os-x-mountain -lion/
I've tried setting up the outgoing mail via smtp.gmail.com and also my ISP mail (@ mailout.easymail.ca). I edited the SASL_passwd file and /etc/postfix/main.cf files accordingly ..
I then use the following command to test sending of mail:
    date | mail -s test <myemailaddress>@gmail.com
I don't receive any email. When I check the mail queue with this command:
    tail -f /var/log/mail.log
    I get this:
    May 11 14:19:06 <server>.flonsolutions.com postfix/cleanup[4077]: warning: F14632CCF23C: recipient_canonical_maps map lookup problem for <myemailaddress>@gmail.com
    May 11 14:19:06 <server>.flonsolutions.com postfix/pickup[4279]: warning: maildrop/F08E72CCF23B: error writing F14632CCF23C: queue file write error
May 11 14:19:11 <server>.flonsolutions.com postfix/cleanup[4077]: warning: hash:/etc/postfix/system_user_maps is unavailable. open database /etc/postfix/system_user_maps.db: No such file or directory
I also checked the instructions found here:
    http://blog.deversus.com/2012/07/fix-for-postfix-in-mac-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion/
    without success
Anyone got some hints on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks a lot if you can help!
    Andrew

I have a User Tip for setting up mail in Mountain Lion: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4161
However, it is designed for local mail. It would not work out of the box with gmail. You would have to configure local mail to route mail externally. I have done it, but not lately.
OS X Server has its own e-mail system. I tried to set it up once but found it easier to do it myself. That is when I wrote that User Tip. I can't help with Server, but the User Tip will be sufficient to deliver and check mail local to your machine. That should be adequate for sending mail from a local PHP-driven development site. You don't want to do production web work on your local machine anyway.

  • I use DeskNow for e-mails, and when using FF4 as my browser, I can open my e-mails, but not send.

I use DeskNow as an e-mail program for work e-mail.
Since upgrading to FF4, I find that I can log in to DeskNow, open e-mails, download files and upload files, update my calendar and do most things I need to.
But when I try to send an e-mail it just sits there. It gives no error message, but will not send or save to draft.

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
    See also:
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Wireless client can't get an IP but can associate with the Cisco 1200 AP

    Hi!
    Good day to everyone.
I guess i need some help with regards to a problem of mine.
I have a Cisco 1200 AP with IOS 12.3(2), the client is MS Win XP on an IBM notebook with an onboard intel wireless client.
the RADIUS server is a MS IAS and it is integrated with MS Active directory where I authenticate.
somehow the client can associate with WPA and TKIP however it won't receive an IP add after logging into domain. I have tried clearing out the TKIP and WPA and leave authentication open and guest mode on the config. this would be successful.
I also want to ask what does the "list_name" on the methods of authentication on EAP? Is this a RADIUS server's name or the AD server's name?
Attach is the configuration I made on the AP.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

I have this same issue, it seems the AP is not supplying the group key needed to complete the authentiction...so your being authenticated, but not fully with the AP. I have a sniffer of a good connect and a bad one, its got something to do with the key (if you look at the link status, you will probably see something like this beside security
    TKIP, WEP, Key Absent
The Key Absent portion is bad. Its whats stopping us from getting fully "connected" with our AP's, but i have yet to figure out why.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Hi I have a mac osx lion10.7.3 and i can't get my mail set up with a blue yonder.co.uk address inbox works fine but i can't get outbox to work will not send mail any idea's thank's

Hi I have a mac osx lion10.7.3 and i can't get my mail set up with a blueyonder.co.uk address inbox works fine but i can't get outbox to work will not send mail any idea's thank's

And, you are sure you have provided the correct username and password for you email account? I'm not familiar with Virgin media, so you might contact their tech support to find out why you are having a problem sending mail but none receiving mail. I assume your mail account has always been POP3 and not IMAP. Typically, the outgoing mail servers are not the same for the different types of account service.

  • I changed my e-mail address a few months ago everything was ok. Starting monday my outgoing mail can not be sent, it says the server rejected my e-mail address. Why ? I can receive mail but not send it

My outgoing mail gets rejected. I can get mail but not send it.It was working for about 6 months.

If the smtp is rejecting your password you should go in.
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your Yahoo account in the sidebar on the left.
In account information tab you will see : " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) "
Click on it and choose edit SMTP server list.
Select Yahoo and click on the advanced tab.
Now fill your new Yahoo password.
    Hope it's help.

  • Can receive mail but not send mail

Hey, I can receive mail but cannot send mail. I previously had bellsouth mail and it worked fine, now I have a Charter.net account and I get a pop up every time I try to send mail saying, Mail couldn't be sent using the POP account Charter.net. I would really appreciate any help that some of you Mac experts could give me. It'd be nice to be able to send e-mail without having to go to the Charter website!
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Lee

    Ernie,
Is there any chance that this inability to SEND could be fixed by the removal of MessageRules.plist, MessageRules.plist.backup, MessageSorting.plist and MessageSorting.plist.backup that I have seen in other threads on Mail problems? I'm not having a complete failure of Mail, but I can't send mail (only receive).
I have contacted both my ISP (ATT) and my "second party" mail host (Godaddy.com) and all my settings are correct and things should, in theory, work fine -- but they don't!

  • I have used Firefox for many years. Now I can receive E-mail but cannot send it from Firefox. Just re-installed Mozilla and still cann't send E-mail.....

I cannot send mail from Firefox. Can receive E-mail but cannot send it. This worked OK until today. I have had firefox for many years. Just reinstalled Mozilla and still cannot send E-mail from firefox.
I use comcast.net for E-mail,using Mozilla to get there.

If your Office email account's SMTP authenticated?
Any error message provided and if so, what?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by SBCGlobal.net with either email client and if so, are you able to send messages with this account and SMTP server when connected to the internet via SBCGlobal.net at home?
And let me get this straight - both email clients work fine without any problems sending messages with your Office email account and SMTP server when connected to the internet at a friend's house that uses another ISP besides SBCGlobal.net but this is an Apple problem?
If an Apple problem, then you'd have problems sending messages with this account and SMTP server regardless whose network and ISP you are connected to.
Regardless what this more than likely under-trained or just unaware person at SBCGlobal.net told you, all ISPs have restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of their network or that isn't provided by the ISP used for connecting to the internet.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated server only that is outside of their network but some block its use regardless.
Within the last year or so, SBCGlobal.net made a drastic change in regards to such restrictions and conveniently neglected to inform their customers beforehand. Those using an SMTP server that was outside of SBCGlobal.net's network regardless if the SMTP server was authenticated were required to "opt out" of Port 25 blocking with SBCGlobal.net in order to use an SMTP server that was outside of their network which was working fine before this change was made.
Have you opted out of Port 25 blocking with SBCGlobal.net?

  • Cant send e mail but can receive hotmail

cant send e mail but can receive email on ipad2 from hotmail....problem with ourgoing???

    Dear All,
Thought that I'd report in.  My firewall is not on, so that can't be the problem.
I went into my mail settings and re-entered passwords, account info, unselected SSL, then selected it again, entered custom ports, etc., etc., and was able to get mail to send, but no information seems to be stored and there doesn't seem to be any way to save any changes that are made.  There was always a box that came up and asked if you wanted to save changes, but I can't find it now.  If you shut mail down and start it up again, the same old problem occurs.
I also have two smtp servers and it seems that if one is working, the other doesn't. If outbound.att.net is working and shows green, then smtp.att.yahoo.com is red.  If smtp.att.yahoo.com is green, then outbound.att.net is red.  Occasionally they will both be green, but neither one sends any mail.  Strange!
Also, Connection Doctor shows a red light for no connection when my mail just swooshed out of the mailbox!  It really is working, but Connection Doctor doesn't show a connection.  And, when the light is green and a connection is made, the mail still doesn't leave the box.
It still takes a long time to send anything, but I was able to send about five test messages tonight.  I'm still waiting for a fix from Apple.
    Barbara
