Can't get my palm to synchronize

Please help. I was having trouble finding info on the computer in my Microsoft Outlook program after synchronizing from my palm. (Zire 31) I kept getting a message stating that the "handheld is associated with a different outlook profile." I downloaded the Palm desktop software to save all the info there. Now I can find all the new info that I've put on my palm from the last few weeks. But now when I try to run a hot synch operation, my palm freezes up and it won't synchronize. What do I need to do? I would greatly appreciate any help that would correct this problem.

The problem with the system telling you "handheld is associated with a different outlook profile." is because you have changed the profile in outlook that you were syncing to.
You need to access the hotsync mgr. and go to the cal., con, memo, and tasks outlook listing then access custom and then settings and it will give you the option to change the outlook profile.
As far as the freezing up in the hotsync check the device mgr. to see if the palm is being recognized correctly if it is not while connected right click the palm listing in the device mgr. and remove the palm from the listing then using the action pull down menu click "scan for hardware changes" and it should find the palm and allow you to sync.

By code, I think you are referring to the code on your iPhone. To sync for the 1st time with iTunes you'll need to enter the code on your iPhone to unlock it. Typically if your phone is unlocked and then connected to your computer, it will lock itself. Just reenter the code. Then you should get another prompt on your iPhone to "trust" your computer so you can sync with it.

Can not get e-mail messages to go out on my Palm Centro

I have a Palm Centro and have tried to set up my e-mail accounts. I can not get either e-mail options to send the e-mails out (I can get incoming messages however). I have entered the correct information required by my provider (I am with Mediacom). Any ideas on what the problem might be or what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

This happens with a lot of providers, who block remote access to their outgoing servers as a means of preventing spam.
Try using Sprint's outgoing mail server. Go to the Palm Knowledgebase and enter 39211 in the Solution ID box for the server information.

Make sure it came with the latest Palm Desktop for OS X. It should be 4.2.1 Revision D. If it didn't then download it from Palm's site.
Since Palm was a bit lackluster in their support for OS X, I switched to Mark/Space's Missing Sync for Palm OS. It is smooth as silk with OS X and does more than the Palm sync software.

Second hand PALM Z22. Can't get it to sync. Wrong USB cable???

Thanks in advance for any help with this. I received a Palm z22 second hand and would like to sync it for the first time. However, I notice the USB cable it came with is not the original. Seems the original has some kind of button on it you're supposed to be able to press. Can I make it sync with a regular USB cord? Everything seems to work fine just can't get it to syn.

If the cable doesn't have a button try these steps
1. Plug in and connect to your computer
2. Launch the "Hotsync" application on the device
3. Tap on the icon on the screen
This should then initiate a hotsync operation.

Sorry, but you're using Sync incorrectly if you don't have any other devices connected to that Sync account.
Sync wasn't intended to be a "cloud" storage device; it's intended to be used to "synchronize" a user's across multiple devices. Upon completion of the initial setup of Sync procedure, the user is shown the Recovery Key and is told to make a copy of that "key". There are buttons in the dialog window to "save" to disk or to "print" the Recovery Key. Unfortunately, too many users just ignored that message (or ignored it) and put themselves in the same position that you are now in - lost data and no way to recover that data.
The Sync / Recovery Key is used to encrypt your data as it is being uploaded to the Sync server and then used to decrypt your data when it is downloaded to one of your devices. Without the exact Sync Key that the user's data was encrypted with, the user's data is useless scrambled bunch of 1's and zero's.
Firefox 29 has a new version of Sync that eliminates the need for the user knowing their Recovery Key. The method that generates that "key" uses the user account name (email address) and the user password, so in the future user's shouldn't find themselves in the same position that you are now in.

T2 Digitizer frozen after soft,warm,hard resets.Can not get it to calibrate at all.

My T2 occasionally has to be recalibrated. I downloaed DigiFix some months ago and it seemed to help a bit. I hot synced my data last night and all was well. This morning I could not tap my screen to access anything. I tried cleaning carefully around the screen edge, gently cleaned the screen ( no visible damage to the screen noted ), performed a soft reset ( which usually worked ), a warm reset, followed by a soft reset and finally a hard reset ( kept data ) followed by a soft reset and then the big one, a hard reset with loss of data followed with 5 soft resets in a row. I found through the forum a T2 update which I downloaded and is ready to be installed when I next hot sync.
The unit is now frozen with the x in the starting position in the top left corner. Despite my efforts to gently tap all around the X, I can not get it to recalibrate or even get off the calibration screen. If I could just get back to any regular screen, I could get my data back and install this T2 update.
I also downloaded Pocket DVD studio a week ago and have been able to upload .avi files for viewing videos on my Palm. I works beautifully. I think I still have the original Kimoma player on my T2, but never really like it. Can anyone PLEASE help me out? This T2 update is supposed to help according to the infor I found in forum....MANY THANKS!

Thank you for the fina advice. It worked and my T2 is now working perfectly. I think the real trick is using cheap copier paper, not the higher grade stuff or a business card for the cleaning routine. I floded the paper lengthwiase and put a sharp crease in before cutting into little work strips. It took a lot of patience and time to perform a proper cleaning, but it was worth it. Seems that the smallest bit of anything which get trapped under the bezel will throw the T2 into a stupor. Many thanks your your fine advice.....Rgds,John Brown

i upgraded my Itunes to the latest version and now it won't let me view my library with the column browser. Can i get that back? I tried using the shortcut for it and nothing happens. When I try to do it from the view menu, it shows up as something I can't click on. The new library format is driving me crazy and I just want to get back to the old library view.

We need to sort out some facts here first:
• You cannot be running Mt. Lion on your iMac G5. What Mac is it? What is the Model Identifier listed in About This Mac; More Info; Hardware Overview
• What is the model of your Epson Scanner?
• Have you attempted to scan using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder?
• Your Palm Pilot software will only run in Snow Leopard; so depending upon which Mac you have, you will either have to:
1) partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it to "dual-boot" when you want to access you Palm software, or
2) install Snow Leopard Server (now available from Apple for $20 telephone orders USA & Canda only) into Parallels 8 to run your Palm software in Mt. Lion:

I have verified in settings that my acct is listed in itunes & App Store, as well as icloud. i can download new apps fine. Have shut down phone and re-powered, have tried plugging into my iMac while signed into my iTunes acct. Can't figure out what to do next?

Is the comp a synced device to your apple ID and approved as an active device for this synchronization?
Just cloud the sync once, activate the comp to your apple I'd in iTunes, ensure all software is up to date, turn on home sharing between the devices and you can reinstall the apps from the apple id purchase history via download.
You basically cleaned out the canonical data apple uses to validate all that, which was backup data. Like iOS devices have the purchased option on the App Store now, syncing the devices via the home sharing and properly activating them will give your comp the purchased cloud and free up 10gs of space on the precious solid states smaller drives.
