Can't Get my PSE-9 to Accept My Nikon D5100 Raw photos

I have pse-9  and a D5100 camera. Also am set up to do my mac iphoto editing externally. When I want to edit a jpegphoto, it works fine but Adobe says it will not accept a raw file. I see adobe now says it will support a D5100 camera and that I will need a Camera Raw plug in 6.4. My pse has 6.1.. So I finally was able to download camera raw 6.4 but adobe installer refuses to install it and keeps asking me for some type if serial number for Adobe Flash Pro cs4 which I don't have !! Help

As you have followed the instructions to post to the Photoshop Elements Forum, I will Lock this thread, so that all discussion can continue in the one on the PsE Forum.
Good luck,

  • Can I edit Nikon D5100 RAW photos in iPhoto '09?

I recently shot photos for an event with my Nikon D5100, using the RAW + jpeg setting. I uploaded my photos into an iPhoto event, and both the RAW and jpeg photos appeared in the event. I have read that iPhoto '09 supports lossless RAW file editing, so I selected one of the RAW photos and attempted to edit it. iPhoto entered the edit window, but the image appeared blurry and all of the editing tools were grayed out. Photo editing works fine with the jpeg files in my event. Also, when I double click one of the RAW images it opens it as a gray exclamation point icon.
More information: I am running OS X 10.6.8, and iPhoto 8.1.2. The page at the below link indicates that the D5100 is supported in 10.6.8, without mention of a specific RAW Compatibility update that must accompany the OS. I am assuming that since iPhoto '11 requires OS X 10.7.5 or later this information applies to my use of iPhoto '09, though any RAW compatibility updates on the Apple site for download are either only for iPhoto '11 or already installed on my computer.
Any insights on what may be going wrong? Thanks.

I believe that the 5100 will work on iPhoot 09 and 10.6.8 and these issues:
I selected one of the RAW photos and attempted to edit it. iPhoto entered the edit window, but the image appeared blurry and all of the editing tools were grayed out. Photo editing works fine with the jpeg files in my event. Also, when I double click one of the RAW images it opens it as a gray exclamation point icon.
are due to the fact that iPhoto cannot find the Raw file - that's what the ! means.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

I use a 10.8 system and can not get Terminal or Textmate to accept my password by that I mean, neither will even allow me to TYPE it in.

  • I can't get my PSE 10 to reinstall on my MAC.

After having my MAC serviced I can't get my PSE 10 reinstalled.  What do I do?  I was able to reinstall my PSE 8 but I get notifications that I already have that version on 2 computers which I don't.  It doesn't always give me that notice.  Do I need to unistall PSE 8 before reinstalling PSE 10?  I tried that first but it didn't work.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much, Lenore Bradford

You don't give us any indication of what problem you're having with PSE 10, so we can't give you any sensible advice about that. It doesn't make a bit of difference how many other versions you have installed--I'm running 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11 on one mac.
For PSE 8, you are allowed two activated copies. If you have a problem the only solution is to contact activation support:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
and usually you can start a chat session right in that window and get things straightened out right then.

  • Lion, Mail, and Outlook. I can't get preferences in Mail to accept Outlook as the default mail program. Outlook works fine within the Office world but not with Preview or Lightroom (to choose two that I've tried today). Any ideas?

As per the heading, I can't get Lion to accept Outlook 2011 as the default mail program. When I go through the Preferences in Mail to set the detault mail program, I can see Outlook, I can select it, but it doesn't "stick." As soon as I reopen Mail, Mail is the defailt mail program again. It also doesn't work though the Outloook Preferences menu. I'm a recent transfer to Macs, and could use some help. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

There is a forum specifically for MS Office for Macs, just click Office for Mac Product Forums and post there, they should know.
If for some reason you don't want to do that you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support, this might be a good time to use it. You can find the number in your owners manual.

  • I just got a new iphone 5 yesterday. I can't get any of the apps to request access to my photos.

I bought a new iphone 5c yesterday and am installing all of my apps on to it, and also updated to iOs 7.1.2.  None of the apps I have installed (such as instagram, facebook, twitter or messenger) have requested access to my photos so I can't use my photos within the apps. How do I change this? I have already gone to my settings, general, privacy, photos  and there are no requests from apps to allow this feature. I have tried uninstalling the apps and reinstalling them thinking maybe if I did that the request would pop up but that didn't work. The only thing instagram has requested is access to my microphone. Can someone help please? I'm getting beyond frustrated, and I can not get to an apple store to have someone take a look.

All of your pictures adn contact should be on your computer. Nothing should only be on your iphone.  The iphone is not a storage device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.
You should be syncing contacts to your computer regularly and importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly.
Have you failed to do this?

Just deleted a video on my iPhone 5 by accident.can I get it back. I have iCloud and was all switched on under my settings.thanks;)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you have a back up with the video on, you'll need to restore your phone, if so is your back up in iTunes or iCloud.

  • PSE 8 does not support Nikon 7000D RAW files?

I just got a Nikon 7000D, and when I tried to open up one of the .NEF (RAW) files in PSE 8, it wasn't supported.  I researched the Camera RAW plug-in, and from what I can tell, PSE 8 is only compatible with Camera RAW up to version 6.2.  It looks like version 6.3 is only useable with PSE 9.
Camera RAW 6.2 does not support files from the Nikon 7000D, or at least the list I saw does not show it, so I did not download 6.2.  Is my only choice for being able to use PSE 9 with my 7000D to spend the money on PSE 9?   -Bill C

You could also download the standalone DNG converter and make DNG files (which you may be able to process in 6.2), or use the Nikon software to convert your files and do any additional editing in PSE.

  • How can I get my Canadian printer to accept German cartridges?

I am in Germany with my printer and I just purchased cartridges for my HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One printer, which is out of warranty. I get the message from my printer that it will not accept these cartridges. From the HP site, I learn that even though the box says these cartridges are compatible with the 3210, this is a lie, because European cartridges are not compatible with North American printers.
There is apparently a simple procedure that the support rep can do with me to set up my computer to accept these cartridges. But there is no possibility for me to call, there is no phone number, I can buy extended support but this is unfair, it says on the box that these cartridges are compatible with the 3210, I paid 50 Euros for the cartridges, I put one in the printer so I cannot return them now, and I have no way to get in touch with HP. What kind of service is this????

I have to agree. I'm in Switzerland...have to use my Swiss com phone or my Verizon-USA phone, both of which will charge me HUGE (like $1.50/min.) to call support in the USA. I did call the Swiss one and the message was in German...and of course I speak English and some Spanish. I looked up the compatible product online before I bought the cartridges-which are VERY expensive in Switzerland. I'm in the middle of my dissertation-trying to print out data infomration so I can write about it...but can't.
Why can't I do this via chat? It won't let me contact online tech support because my warranty for the printer has expired...BUT the cartridges have one as well and they are BRAND NEW!! The link the regular chat person supplied to me  takes me to to the Swiss page in...you guessed it...GERMAN.
Anyone know how to get help onine to regionalize??????

  • How can I get Print to PDF to accept oversized page sizes?

To level set, my platform is Mac OSX 10.6,  Snow Leopard.
I sometimes create banners and such that are designed to be plotted/printed on large format printers.  For example, a banner might print to a page that is 12" x 72".
Now, I don't actually own such a printer, the FedEx Kinko's down the street does, hence I don't have a driver installed for it.
I really don't know the "best" tool for creating these drawings. I have tried MS PowerPoint (which can't seem to accept paper wider than 56 inches) and have  used NeoOffice Draw, which  seems to work ok until it comes to printing time.
When I try to print to PDF, which is what the folks at Kinko's want, the printer systems always asks if I want to rescale the print to fit my 8-1/2 X 11 home printer(s).  No, just print it "as-is" is NOT a choice and neither is "Any Printer".   I end up having to crawl through setting up odd sized paper under "Any Printer" and somehow, I still don't really understand how, the print to PDF now saves the file sized to print as drawn.
So, I can see a few possible approaches to making this easier.
Install the print driver for the printer at Kinko's.  Only, I don't think the installation process will allow that unless the printer is connected.
Develop a dongle that fools the Mac into thinking the printer is attached.  Cute idea that could make money if I sold them, but hardly reasonable.
Develop a dummy (virtual?) print driver that can be added without a physical printer having to be present and which opens a window when you "print" to it that allows you to specify the page size and other information with which it will "lie" to the OS and say, "Yes,  I am a printer capable of doing this....".  (FYI, I am a programmer going on 30 years now.)
So, before I teach myself Objective-C and how to use Xcode, is there a better or known solution?  Is there an existing product I can use?  Is there a driver development kit for virtual printers?  Any chance I could get a C++ kit and not have to learn Objective-C?
    Thanks!

Incorrect. Win or Mac, you can install a printer driver w/o the printer being connected.

You're using the wrong tools. PP shouldn't even be in consideration; I don't know about NeoOffice, but I tried its cousin LibreOffice, and it has issues with custom paper sizes; which is not surprising, given what these apps were designed for.
What you need for actual banners (not web page banners) is a vector drawing tool or a DTP app. I'd say Illustrator or InDesign, but Adobe CS is expensive, and, if you're thinking of PowerPoint for this job, you're not ready for it.
You can try Pages; although not quite DTP, it can do the job and it's inexpensive. There are other options, such as Swift Publisher (a DTP app) or Intaglio (a drawing app) -- both are more expensive than Pages, but still affordable; or you can go open source with Scribus (DTP) or InkScape (vector; requires X11). You already know the ups and downs of using open source. (These are just examples; you can find others if you look for them.)
Although it's better to have Kinko's printer driver, to make sure of the correct options, you don't actually need it to print to PDF. You should be able to define a custom page size (eg, 12in × 72in) and create the PDF from it. Any app which uses the Mac OS X standard print function should be able to do it.

  • How can I get my Powermac G4 to accept the installation serial #s of my new iWork'05 software?

Hi...It might work, but now the picture has changed a bit. 6 mos or so ago system told me that I needed to fix disc utility and I couldn't get the repair to work. On another forum someone suggested that I try fixing it from my Leopard install disc. I was scared to try it until today. I thought, that may be the problem with iWork '05 not accepting my serial #, so I did the pre-install steps with my Leopard install dvd. I had to go thru the initial steps 2 or 3 times before locating the disc utility on the menu bar, so there was a quick initiation of the install. Anyway I clicked on disc utility,. It checked out the system and did the repairs successfully. I closed disc utility.  Attempted another install of iWork'05. It worked ok until the last when it again requested serial #'s. This time the box to type the serial #s was missing. I was only given the choice of the tour or close.  Sooo I think that I need to remedy that problem before I can try your suggestion. Thank you though. If you have any thoughts on this, please let me know.

  • How can I get iCal invitations received and accepted by Outlook?

I am forwarding invitations to Outlook (Windows Vista) clients for appointments in iCal on MacBookPro.
The invitations are not being received by Outlook and cannot be accepted.
I notice many people have this problem. Does anyone have a solution please?
    Cam Opie

Have the same issue. Wrote a request to Apple.
If this doesn't get resolved, I'll get rid of Apple Mail, Apple Contact and Apple Calender and switch back to Outlook, which is stuck in Version 2011!!!
I still can't believe that Apple issued an iCal which is not able to handle invitations from and to the rest of the "non-Apple" world. What sense does this make?

  • Can't Get MacBook 2007 Model to accept two sticks of 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 RAM.

So I had this situation running on an older version of this MacBook, two sticks of 1GB. That computer broke so I want to do the same on this "newer" one. However when I put two 1GB ram inside it will not boot. Just the Disc Drive starts up and a black screen.
The most frustrating part is when I insert one of the previous 256MB sticks in with a 1GB, it will turn on but will be really slow.
I've tried everything I can think of. Different 1GB sticks. Putting them in different slots but I cannot seem to get it to run with 2GB.

If you bought your RAM at a place that also sells PC RAM you may have gotten mislabelled RAM. PCs can handle different RAM speeds so they’ll often label higher speed RAM as a lower speed rather than make two different speeds of RAM. But Macs are much more picky. They require a RAM stick to be exactly 667mhz not 675mhz or 800mhz. The way to tell is to put one of your old RAM sticks in and it will force the new RAM to run at the correct speed.
This is from one review of PNY RAM:
"These modules are actually 800Mhz. PNY no longer makes or sells 667Mhz modules. Not all computers that require 667Mhz are compatible with 2 800Mhz modules. They refuse to down clock properly. This is especially true with a number of Core 2 Duo MacBooks. Spoke to PNY support, they flat out told me that yes, they sell 800Mhz modules in 667Mhz packaging. If you RMA a module that is 667Mhz (or supposed to be 667Mhz) they will replace it with an 800Mhz module as they no longer have any 667Mhz SODIMMs, not even for RMA replacement!"
These are good online stores for Mac compatible RAM
OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/ - They offer Mac tested RAM at very good prices.
Crucial Memory http://www.crucial.com/ - good place to buy RAM from all over the world. They also have an excellent memory selector that allows you to choose memory based on your computer's model
Data Memory Systems http://www.datamemorysystems.com/apple-memory.asp - another good, cheap place to buying RAM if you live in the U.S.

  • In face time, I can't get my e-mail address accepted. It says I should check connection but my g-mail works fine.

Trying to initiate facetime, I get to the screen where I type in my e-mail address and I keep getting a message that it cannot be found and I should check my internet connection.  However, my g-mail works fine.  What's up?

FaceTime requires an Apple ID, which you should already have (you would not be able to sign in to Apple Support Communities without it). Possibly your gmail address is not an Apple ID?
If needed you can create an Apple ID within the FaceTime application. Click on the "Create New Account" button at the sign in page.
    Best of luck.
