Can't get my swf animations to loop

I've created a flash animation (because the green arrow
source isn't available) When I create a SWF file from it, and
inport it into Captivate, it shows it looping in the preview
window, but it doesn't loop when I preview the movie. I even added
Actionscript to gotoandplay the first frame without any luck.
Usually it plays one time, sometimes not at all. The behavior of
the standard swfs is that they play constantly.

Hi Jennifer
In order to make your animations loop like the supplied
animations do, you need to insert the animation into a Movie Clip.
Then place the Movie Clip on the main Flash Timeline.

  • How can I get a .swf to stop playing using a button?

I've placed two .swf files inside my InDesign CC doc. and would like to control them using specifically created 'play' and 'stop' buttons. My InDesign file will be / is exported as a .swf also, as it has animations and interactivity.
One .swf is a looping animation (created in a separate InDesign doc.) and the other is a Captivate file published as a .swf.
When I create a 'play' button to play the .swf it works as expected, however when I create a 'stop' button and assign the Action 'Stop' or 'Stop All' it does not work and the .swf continues to play on the page.
When I change page within my InDesign document the two .swf's continue to play; I know this because despite not being able to see them still playing (as I'm on a new page now), one of the .swf's - the Captivate file - has audio and continues to play on the new page I'm viewing.
When I return to the page where the two .swf files are located they appear to have stopped and can be re-played, but what is actually happening is that the .swf's are still playing in the background with the option to press play for the same two .swf's - meaning I'll have a total of 4 .swf's playing at the same time - two behind the original two.
I know there is a similar 'unload' issue when playing a .swf inside a swf. in Flash and that you can create ActionScipt to either unloadAll or killAudio but I don't know how to resolve this with InDesign as I'm not aware of either being able to access the InDesign code or there being an actual fix for this.
Would appreciate some help, if possible.
    Thanks.
    James.

Hmmm. Behind the safari window? Try command-tab for quicktime X and bring to the front?  Quit all apps and start over?

  • Imported AS3 swf animation not looping

I have tried all of the settings in Captivate 5.5 but can't keep my animation looping and not sure why.
I've imported an AS3 swf animation (just a simple movieclip animation of a blinking line) into Captivate 5.5. I placed the animation at the end of the timeline on the slide, and want the blinking line to stay there and continue to blink (i.e., animate) even after the slide has come to the end of the timeline.
I've tried everything I can think of. I assumed that checking the "Loop" setting in Captivate for the animation would do it, but it seems to have no effect.
I am pretty sure what is happening is that the click box on the Cp slide is forcing the animation to pause. In other words, the imported animation's timeline is being forced to pause too. Is there a way to stop this?
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
Try inserting a Click Box that pauses the slide about half a second before the end of the animation on the Timeline.

  • Can't get an swf file to play

I am working on my first flash site. I have a main site that
uses several swf files that were created seperately. One of them is
a menu bar that I designed outside the main site, and I imported it
using "Import to stage". It works just as it should. I also have a
button that I defined outside my main site, and I imported it in
    the same way.
But now I am trying to import a slideshow that I created
outside the main site, and it will not work. The import happens
without error, and I can see the slideshow, but I can't get the
move to play. This is the kind of slideshow that has thumbnails
continuously scrolling at the bottom, so the user can pick one to
be displayed in a larger slide above the thumbnail.
Do I have to use a preloader instead of using "Import to
stage"? I have seen several tutorials describing how to create a
preloader, and I think I can do that without too much trouble. I
would just like to know if that is NECESARRY, and that "Import to
Stage" is limited in its capabilities in some way.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

I am using "this" in the slideshow files. That does not
present the same scoping problem as "root" does, does it?
Also, I have noticed that, with the other swf files that I
have imported to the stage (a menu I created, for instance), the
structure of the file remains in tact when I import it. The layers
retain their names, the actionscript is there, etc. But, when I
import the slideshow swf file, the layer structure is very
different from the original swf file. And, most importantly, I
can't find any of the actionscript that is in the original file.
So, I must be exporting slideshow to .swf incorrectly. I have
checked all the settings, and they appear to be the same as when I
export the menu to .swf but, the results are very different.
    Very frustrating...

  • How can I get my swf files playing on browser?

    Hello,
I've been designing my first website and have used dreamweaver, which is very new to me. I've followed a very good beginners guide to making websites and all was well. However, it had nothing about uploading swf files. So I did some research, and found that the easiest way was to insert them into a div box using the media section and choosing swf. again all was well, I can preview it in chrome etc.. and all works fine.
I've come to uploading my site and I've used filezilla, uploaded all the files but I can't see the swf playing on the website. I've looked into it and I just can't find the answer. I've tried uploading them directly into the root folder as well but that doesn't work.
    Can somebody please help me!!
    here are the links:
www.creativecanvassing.co.uk = the swf should be positioned between the orange logo and the "national direct marketing company' text. There is also the section in picture which has the same problem
not too sure how to attach the copy of the file that shows its all working
    Thanks

    Hello,
are you really sure that you have uploaded this page with contents? I've got this, when calling this link: http://www.creativecanvassing.co.uk/pictures.html:
Your swf file is running in my IE8 like a charm in all your other pages.

  • How can I get a swf file to load...

Not sure if this is the place to ask this but I have a swf file embeded in a web page design.
Now here’s the issue, the client wants to add more photos to it making it even larger.
I would prefer not to make it larger but create 2 or 3 swf files that would randomly load when the webpage is refreshed or reloaded.
Is there a way to code a random swf loading in HTML?
Would I use javascript? I googled and found nothing on the subject.
    Thank you

If you know JavaScript (ECMA Script) then you might be able to get it done applying a for loop and a random function
to the for loop if you know how to get a page-loaded request into JavaScript.
But an easier solution, if you know ActionScript 3.0, and if your SWF's don't need to be recoded and can load into a "container" SWF would be to create a master FLA file that loads your SWF's in a random fashion using Math.random() as a multiplier, though you won't see much variation if you only have 2-3 SWF's to load--if you had more than that then you would begin to benefit from the random function's capabilities.  In ActionScript 3.0 use the load() method along with addChild() to load the SWF and add it to the stage.  You will be able to search for specifics on how to code the FLA properly by using Flash's Adobe Help tool and also using an internet search.
    -markerline
P.S. Once you have the master FLA coded you can Publish it to an SWF and an HTML and if the container/master SWF needs to be in a page with other content you can simply copy and paste the object and embed tags for the container SWF from the published HTML into any place on your master HTML that you need it to reside.  You can then use CSS to control placement of the SWF object if it is in a div tag.

  • I can't get a SWF file that runs perfectly in browsers to run in the Business Catalyst environment

My website has 3 parts. The initial HTML page which upon opening plays a video. The link below gives you that.
http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com (It takes a few seconds to get going)
When the video ends a SWF file plays. The code below should show you what is supposed to happen.
    http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com/SWFbutton.html
The difficulty is that the SWF file won't automatically play from the website within Business Catalyst. It all works perfectly when I run the webpage in different browsers through Dreamweaver. Also if I just double click the website file where it sits on my computer... the resident browser picks it up and all is well.
I've already exchanged quite a few e-mails with Business Catalyst support and InDesign support... (The SWF file was created using InDesign) ...but we don't seem to be getting anywhere. I can't think of anywhere else to go... so... here I am.
                                                                                                      Thanks,
                                                                                                       Michael McLaughlin

    Hello Liam,
Let me see if I'm understanding you. Are you are saying that it
takes a few seconds for the video to get going after the initial pages
comes up? Yes, I'm aware of that, but it's only a few seconds and then it
runs. Or are you saying that the SWF file takes time to get going?  I've
opened the website http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com, let the video
run and simply waited, but nothing happens.
However, I've noticed something curious. When I preview the Grid w
flip html in BC, everything runs its course as it should. When I run it
    with http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com there's something of a
stall. The video has to end... the code to open the swift file is onended...
but the fade to black at the end of the video never quite happens. A faint
image which is not the last of the video can be seen on the screen. So...
it appears the video hasn't really ended... so the SWF file doesn't run.
So... does BC impose some limit on the length of a video when
it's accessed through http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com that it
doesn't when its run within BC?

  • Flash newb can't get a SWF to work in a DW MX 2004 html

I'm trying out Flash CS3 with my trusty ol' Dreamweaver
MX2004, on Mac OS 10.4.9. I've had another DW site active for four
years; this is the first time I've tried Flash.
The swf plays as expected (I've posted it for reference at
    www.somethinghappeninghere.com/happeningintro.swf), but I cannot
get DW to recognize it within my index.html
(www.somethinghappeninghere.com). I've tried inserting my .swf
according to instructions in ch. 17 in Todd Perkins' H.O.T. CS3
book, and by using Dreamweaver's Insert > Flash menu command. I
found another tutorial that talked about "skins" (huh?) in DW CS3,
but I don't find them used in my MX2004.
I do also have the corresponding "happeningintro.html" file
from when I published the swf -- but I can't find anything that
refers to how to USE it.
Please send any suggestions and clarification to
[email protected] I'm fully prepared to give myself a dope-slap
when Iearn whatever details I've overlooked. Thank you.

Urgh. Found my goof. Duh -- I forgot to upload the swf
    folder.
Four years using DW and Transmit, and still this. Sheesh, I
hope I can remember the difference between red lights and green
lights when I drive to work this morning.

  • How can I get a loading animation to play while fly playback component loads a file?

    Hi team,
    Two part question here..
    So I have a FLV playback component and a number of .flv files that it loads   ------>  using video1.source="film/whatever.flv";
There is a slight delay while the file loads and so I would like to
    A) make this pause a bit longer (it would be so fast at the moment that any loading animation would be subliminal, but with nothing at all you get a second of blank which is not good either- so if I can get it to be a bit longer, like say 2 seconds..
    B) have an animation play while this happens..
It does not need to show progress or anything, just like a spinning wheel or whatever.
I have been playing around with bufferTime but not really getting anywhere..
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks

After that I get the "working" trace but nothing happens    ...    I am close but would really like to understand a bit more what I am doing!

  • Can't get a SWF that will display the content by itself

    Hi all,
I was able to use the (for example) main.swf as a single stand-alone file until I upgraded to Cat CS5.5.
Where is the output to just a basic SWF???
They will display it with the associated html, etc. though in a browser.
I am using the SWF as CD UI display in Director 11 or another SWF friendly platform.
Is there something I did to make it change?
Did they break this by design??
Can I add some code? Remove code? to get it to display?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Flash Catalyst leverages the Flex Framework. That is why there are all those other files in the directory when you publish. You will need to have them available for your project in order for the main.swf to work.

  • Can't get flash video to stop looping even when i use stop(); in last frame

I have only just started using Flash so im sure im doing this wrong but in tutorials i have watched to stop the video looping you put stop(); in the last frame. I have done that but the video still loops... Anyone know where i am going wrong?

If the question is related to Adobe Presenter, I would recommend associating the SWF with the presentation play bar. This will allow the player to control the playback of the SWF and can move on to the next slide when the amount of silence (ideally equal to the duration of the SWF) has passed.
If this is a question related to Flash, I'll move it to the correct forum.

  • Can't get the right animation in Simple Blur - Help on How To

Ok. Opening shot of a project.
Going from black to a photo still. About 5 seconds total duration of the intended effect.
I drop Simple Blur onto the front of the clip containing the photo.
There's a nice transition from black to vague blobs to a focused, clean image.
But what I want is 4.5 seconds of very slow fade into unrecognizeable blobs, and then a quick half-second focus into the image. You don't recognize what's coming into focus until the very last moment.
Setting keyframes and curves on the simple blur and compositing opacity video animation parameters does not seem to be enabling me to get the desired effect. Even if I set both parameters to "maximum blur" and "maximum opacity" until the final half-second. The result is not what I'm after.
Moving the blur parameter doesn't do much but adjust from kind-of-blurry-but-recognizeable to perfect focus.
The opacity parameter just seems to change the brightness of the image (but not from total black to 100% image.
There seems to be another aspect of this transition that I'm looking to control, but can't.
    Ideas?

I hope, I'm not lost in translation … what I would do:
split your clip at the position from 'blurred' to 'keyframed blurr':
it allows you to create a looooong dissolve
    and a rapid blurred>>sharp effect
is that what you're trying to accomplish?
