Can't get optical input to w

I have my XBox hooked up through my Audigy 2 Platinum Pro, and I was wanting to route the sound signal to my speaker system. I have the optical cord plugged into the Xbox output and into the Platinum Pro input, I have set the XBox up through the bios to output Dolby Digital and DTS and such. And I checked to make sure that the optical input wasn't muted or anything, and it isn't... but I don't get any sound from the XBox from this setup, and I don't know why. What do I need to do? (I have a 7. Speaker System also)

• Can't get optical audio to work

I know this might be an issue with my A/V receiver, but I'm really stuck and frustrated and hoping someone can help. I've got the Apple TV connected direct to the TV since the receiver (A Denon AVR-688) doesn't support audio playback through to the speakers (or does it? can't get it to anyway). The optical audio I have connected to the optical port on the receiver so I can hear sound through the stereo. The port is labelled "CD" but my audio input source to CD, I get no sound through the stereo (just what's coming through to the TV via the direct HDMI connection). I must be setting something wrong. Can anyone help me?

I only see an option to set the "input" source (not output), which I have selected as CD as I have no CD player, and it's the default setting anyway. Regardless, I'm sure I've got something set up wrong just can't figure out what it is. Ugh!

• Can´t get optical sound output from my brand new mini

have connected the MM to an optical input on my Yamaha RX-V659, but I can´t get no sound.
Mac-side: After connecting and turning on, "System Prefs -> Sound -> Output" has changed to Digital Output and says that no output controls are available for this output. I have tried playing from iTunes and DVD Player. In DVD player the option for selecting Digital Output had appeared, and I chose that. When I take a look at the end of the cable I plug into the receiver I see a constant red light.
Yamaha-side: I have tried 2 different optical inputs, and gone over my settings several times. The receiver does not seem to detect digital audio coming in. I tried the Signal Info menu on my receiver, and for another source it output:
PCM, 48kHz, 2.0, Analog
On the optical input it says:
---, ---, 2.0, Analog

I have a similar setup to a Kenwood receiver. You are correct that ALL system sounds (frontrow, system alerts, etc.) will play through to your stereo.
Have you tried switching Toslink cables and/or the toslink to miniplug adapter that is plugged into the mini?
I had a bad cable at one point in time, and a bad adapter at another point in the life of this system. You perhaps tried these things already but I only saw mention of trying 2 different inputs (I assume on the receiver) and made no mention of cables/adapters.
Let me know how you make out.

• How can I get User Input ..?

hi,
My question is how can I get get the user to "input a string" and then store it in a variable.
I tried the foll but it didn't work:
String EmpName;

Thanx...

BufferedReader buff = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader (System.in));

• Can i get optical to analog conversion cable for aptv

using a mixer but does not have optical input. any way to convert audio signal from optical to analog?

Yes, for stereo just get a cheap DAC to provide RCA stereo out.
Search Amazon for DAC.

i wanna get the the return message from a system
Here is the system.
When I "telnet XX.XX.XX.XX", it'll return"OK".

With Eclipse these codes are OK.
out.println("user user");
out.flush();
String str = "";
while ((str = input.readLine()) != null) {
//now str is "login success"

But i can get nothing but a "null" str with these codes in NetWeaver Stdio.
Is there anyone can give me some suggestion?

• Can I get four inputs voltage reading from four sources at a time from NI USB 6009 DAQ

I had a photoquadrant detector with four quadrants . each quadrant have a positive lead.  If i connect each lead to the DAQ's a0, a1, a2, a3 terminals and common ground to one of the ground of DAQ. Is it able to read four voltages from four quadrants at a time . And how to take the data through labview. In the manuals it's not shown can you provide me an example program.when i configure daq i'am selecting acquire signals--->analog input--> selecting a0,a1,a2,a3---> then configuring each channel with voltage limits all. then ok. Afetr that on the DAQ VI how can I read these four values. Is it by giving add inputs and put number indicator to each data like that or any other way is there. If you help me it's a kind job

Use the DAQmx Read.  Choose a polymorphic case of N channels.  It is up to you whether you want multiple samples as a array, multiple samples as waveforms, or single samples.  The multiple samples as an array will give you a 2D array, the rows being the channel.  The other options will give you an array, an index for each channel.

• Can't get Optical Flow to render

I've read a couple of posts about other people having this problem, but they don't seem to apply as I can't find a workaround.  I'm running FC 10.0.8.
If I render my timeline (about 15 minutes), the entire timeline renders, except for about five seconds that are in slow motion.  The orange bar remains above that section even after the entire timeline is rendered.
After reading the other posts, I know the following might be relevant:  I'm editing optimized AVCHD footage.  There is no speed ramp.  It's just a clip at slowed to 50%.  The clip is completely separate (it's not just a selected range--in another post, somebody said just selecting a range was their problem).
I also tried creating a new project, bringing in a short clip (and nothing else), slowing it to 25%, and rendering all.  The percentage display counted up to 100% like the clip was being rendered, but, at the end, the timeline still showed orange above the retimed clip.
I should say that I don't know if the clips are actually rendered properly in Optical Flow.  I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference.  All I know is that the timeline is still showing orange above them, so I'm presuming they aren't.

Russ--
Funny thing.  I decided to test this by taking the same very brief clip and putting it into a timeline three times in a row.  Then I made each slow motion 25%.  Then I left the first normal, made the second frame blending, and the third optical flow.  Then I exported the master file.
I guess I can see a difference, but the optical flow section actually looks kind of blurry to me.
Then I went back to the timeline and chose Modify> Render All.  And FCX rendered the entire timeline, with no orange above any portion (not even the Optical Flow portion).
So I don't know what to think now.  I don't know what the problem was, or if optical flow is any better than normal or frame blending.  Maybe I need to try it with some different footage?

• Can not get analog input with SCC-SG04

I have used the wizard and wrote a simple AI input channel loop with a digital readout. The voltage doesn't change.

Well, I guess I'm not sure what all you have tried or how you have things set or configured. I would first try verifying the input through the test panels in MAX. Make sure you have your DAQ card set to NRSE mode, make sure you have your SC termination equipment set as the "Accessory" to the DAQ card under it's properties, double check your connections, then see if you can read the voltage through the MAX test panels. After you can read the voltage there, then you can try using a program. I hope this helps!

• Hi, I'm running Logic Pro 8 with an audiophile sound card. I have my keyboard midi-ed into the sound card and obviously plugged into the computer. I can't get any input into the computer though. Nothing registers when I play. Output is fine. Any help? Tha

Hello,
My midi keyboard isn't registering on Logic Pro 8 and I can't work out why. It's all plugged up correctly. The sound card outputs fine - I can hear what I've previously recorded but can't input any more. Any help gratefully received.
Stephen.

Hi, thanks for reply. I was running Logic Express but upgraded. Now I seem to have problems. I have latest drivers for my audiophile. The operating system is 10.4.11. The keyboard just doesn't seem to register - in or out. I've spent hours on the environment, trying to decide which of the conflicting video tutorials to follow......

• Newbie Can't Get Audio Input

I'm brand new at Garage Band. I feel like I've tried everything to get a mic input to record audio but nothing works: I've tried a mic in the mini input in my computer, an HDMI input, and RCA inputs going from a camcorder (turned on). In System prefs, I tell it which audio source I'm using, and in Garage Band prefs I do as well. It states the inout source correctly in the lower right of the GB interface. Recording level is up high. When I hit record (having chosen "Voice") a silent bubble is recorded in the time line.
Thanks for any help,
Eric

In the Sound system prefs, when you speak into the mic do you see the Input Level bar moving? That would indicate that the line-in is getting the mic signal. Check this first. If there's no activity, it's a problem outside of GB. If it is moving, then your Mac is getting signal and it's a GB issue.
So which is it?

• I have a turntable with USB output and SoundStudio3 software; can't get any input. Can you help??

I have a turntable with a USB output and SOUNDSTUDIO3 software. I cannot"find" any audio to record. Can someone help "Denny-Dumb-Butt" see what he is doing wrong??  THANKS!!!

Did you also check if your USB device shows up in System Preferences > Sound?
I have an iMic USB "dongle" and need to select it if I want to record from an external source into Sound Studio 3. You need to check both the Input and Output.

• Can't get Mic to Work

New Arch on a 5 year old PC. I tested the mic input before I zapped the Windows that was on this machine and it was good.
Now it has oss and output is perfect, but no matter what I do, I can't get the input to work. I tried two mics, both of which work in another PC.
Running LXDE if that makes any difference.
Any ideas? I think I flipped every switch I could find in ossxmix

Well this is what I see:
$ sudo ls -l /sys/module/snd/holders
ls: cannot access /sys/module/snd/holders: No such file or directory
after I installed alsa-lib alsa-utils and alsa-oss
When I run alsaconf it says "no supportd PnP or PCI card found" and then "No legacy drivers are available"
I think I may just have to get a new PC
Thanks

• Get multiple Input/Output Stream from same socket ?

For a better express of my problem i will put my test example
I have those 4 classes
package test;
import...
public class ReaderExecutor extends Thread{
            private InputStream in = null;
            private static int defaultID = 0;
            private int ID = getID();
            public ReaderExecutor(InputStream in){
                this.in = in;
            public void run(){
                try {
                    int c ;
                    while ((c=in.read())!=-1)
                        System.out.println("ReaderThread " + this.ID + ":" + c);
                catch (IOException e) {
                    System.out.println("ReaderThread "+this.ID+" stopped !");
            private static int getID(){
                return defaultID++;
package test;
import...
public class WriterExecuter extends Thread{
        OutputStream out = null;
        private static boolean odd = true;
        private boolean isOdd ;
        public WriterExecuter(OutputStream out) {
            this.out = out;
            isOdd = odd;
            odd = !odd;
        public void run(){
            try{
                for (int i = isOdd?1:2;i<10;i+=2){
                    System.err.println(i);
                    out.write(i);
            }catch(Exception e){
                System.out.println("WriterThread stopped !");
package test;
import...

            try{
                ServerSocket ss = new ServerSocket(9090);
                System.out.println("Ascult ... ");
                Socket client = ss.accept();
                new ReaderExecutor(client.getInputStream()).start();
                //Thread.sleep(2000);
                new ReaderExecutor(client.getInputStream()).start();
            }catch (Exception e){

                WriterExecuter t= null ;
                t = new WriterExecuter(s.getOutputStream());
                t.start();
                t = new WriterExecuter(s.getOutputStream());
                t.start();
            }catch(Exception e){
                e.printStackTrace();
}Now if i run successive Main , Main1 i get this output
Ascult ...
ReaderThread 0:0
ReaderThread 1:0
ReaderThread 0:0
ReaderThread 1:0
ReaderThread 0:0
ReaderThread 1:0
ReaderThread 0:0
ReaderThread 1:0
ReaderThread 0:0
ReaderThread 0 stopped !
ReaderThread 1 stopped !The question is can i get other Input/Output individual streams with a separate logic functionality from the same socket?
From this example it seems i can't :(
Thx
Alex

For what you are trying to do the simplest solution is to have one socket per "stream" that is the way they are designed to be used.
However, you can multiplex multiple stream over a single socket, but you have do the coding yourself or use a solution which does this for you e.g. JMS. (There is no support at the socket level for this)
