Can't get past "Choose BEA Home Directory" step in WL 923 Generic Install

I'm running Solaris 10 U8 on an x86 machine. I downloaded the server923_upgrade_generic.jar and I'm getting the following error when I try to install it.
<------------------------ BEA Installer - BEA Products ----------------------->
Choose BEA Home Directory:
"BEA Home" = [opt/bea]
Use above value or select another option:
1 - Enter new BEA Home
2 - Change to default [export/home/myuser/bea]
** Product is not installed.
Enter option number to select OR [Exit][Previous][Next]>
It doesn't matter if I use the default directory or not. I've even created the directory and set permissions on it before the installation, but that didn't work either.

This is resolved. Ended up being a faulty jar I had received.

  • Can't get past the Skype home page

I am so frustrated with this.
I sign in and someone even tried to message me and I was allowed to accept or decline.
But, I cannot get to the page to add contacts. There is nothing on the left side of the page after I sign in.
I use this to make calls to 3 other employees who do the same job. We tried contact Friday (when I received a request from the states) but they cannot contact me
    PLEASE HELP!
I need to get up and going

Hi, Sherry.main2, and welcome to the Community,
Curious as to how you posted your enquiry here on the Skype Features: Skype Number message board.  Does your question also relate to a Skype Number subscription?
Your post reads to me as if you have signed on to your account dashboard, however the next step after creating your account is to Download Skype onto your laptop, computer, or device.  If in the case of a handheld device or tablet, the Skype app can be downloaded and installed from the device's app store.

  • Can't get past OCX error when installing ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003

I have been trying to install ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003 and can't get past the OCX error when registering oravsdbgeng11w.dll. I've read every message on this forum even remotely related to this problem and tried every solution offered. I have done a clean install into a new Oracle home, and made sure Instant Client is always included. All service packs and automatic updates have been installed. For what it's worth I have successfully installed ODAC 11g on Windows XP Pro.
If anyone out there has been able to get this up and running and would care to share the wisdom that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Michael, as you already noticed, every time I have seen this issue it has been because ODT was being installed into an Oracle home where no client exists, or perhaps installed into an old oracle home where the client was an old version (eg Oracle10), or the client was broken. Usually though, the user unchecked the instant client checkbox during the ODAC install.
So you say you checked instant client and you still got the error? That doesn't add up...
Are you using 32-bit windows? If you are using 64 bit windows be sure to tell us.
Why don't you try avoiding using instant client at all, in case it is somehow not getting installed properly.
You can do this as follows:
    1) Under the download links on OTN, go to the database download page.
    2) Download the Oracle Database client 11g for Microsoft Windows
    3) Run this installer and Install ODP.NET 1.x and 2.x into a new Oracle home from this client install, but nothing else. If ODP.NET is not listed there (it has been a long time since I looked at that) than just install a minimal Oracle client install.
    4) Close the installer
    5) Go back and install ODAC and this time choose "Oracle Server" radio button during the install (rather than the client install)
    6) Install ODT and ODP.NET at least and be sure they are being installed into the Oracle home created in the first steps above.
This will avoid use of Instant Client and will hopefully avoid the OCX error. Let me know if this solves your problem.

  • I can't get past the grey apple screen using mavericks

I can't get past the grey apple screen trying to boot up with Mavericks. I had been using Mavericks for about a month (only had issues of freezing occasionally). I read in one of the posts here that I should try holding command R down when booting. I did now I just get a grey screen without the apple.  Any advise?
    I have a Mac Mini

    Hello ther cnickers,
It sounds like the initial install of Mavericks went ok, and you have been using it for a while, but now cannot boot to your desktop and are stuck at a gray screen with an Apple logo. I would recommend a couple of things here:
First, try performing a Safe Boot to see if that will load up for you. If so then leave Safe Boot and restart from the Apple menu to try and get to your deskop:
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without holding any keys during startup.

If that works fine, I would next also verify and repair your disk if needed.
Disk Utility 12.x: Repair a disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5836
Print this help page so you can refer to it later. (You don’t have access to Disk Utility Help when you restart up your computer in the next step.)In the Disk Utility Help window, choose Print from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts. When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
Click Repair Disk.If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done. Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility reports “overlapped extent allocation” errors, two or more files occupy the same space on your disk, and at least one of them is likely to be corrupted. Check each file in the list of affected files. If you can replace a file or recreate it, delete it. If it contains information you need, open it and examine its data to make sure it hasn’t been corrupted. (Most of the files in the list have aliases in a DamagedFiles folder at the top level of your disk.)
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Apple ID.  My newly updated iPad 2 wants an email for the apple ID.  My apple ID is not an email address.  How can I get past the set-up screen?

My newly updated iPad 2 wants an email for the apple ID.  My apple ID is not an email address.  How can I get past the set-up screen?
I can't change my Apple ID.  It would mess all my stuff up.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Can't get past startup

I experienced a hard crash after installing some new internet software (Hermstedt DSL) and now I can't get past the startup screen. I tried a safe startup, repaired disk permissions via Disk Utility and did a Diskwarrior session to sort the directory if that was affected (it wasn't), but the problem persists. I also did a hardware test which stated nothing wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do next? Any help hugely appreciated.

Answering my own question just in case it helps anyone:
I started up in 'safe' mode and deleted everything to do with the software. Everything starts up fine.

  • Can't get past login: Computer freezes! Help

I can't get past the login and my computer completely freezes. I can't even check disks, or load the Tiger DVD to do a test. Any suggestions? I am completely stuck.
    Thanks

Hold down the shift key at start up to boot in Safe Mode.
    or
Hold down the Alt key on start up with the Tiger disk inserted should allow you to choose which volume to boot from.
    or
Hold down Command(apple)> S at boot into single user mode. At the prompt type fsck -y (space betwixt the k and the y). Let it check the disk. Run it again until it tells you your disk is OK. Then type reboot at the prompt.
A little more information about what the Mac is doing when it 'freezes' might also prove useful for the good people of the forum. Is it the spinny beach ball of doom, or some other symptom?

  • I have setup my mail but now it always opens to welcome to Mail page and I can't get past it.

I have set Mail and it worked fine before I upgraded to OS 5.  Now it always opens to Welcome to Mail page and I can't get past it. I tried just setting up the account again but it gives me the message that it already exists.  I can see 50 emails in the Mail icon.  How do I get past Welcome?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
