Can't get Pc to boot with new GPU

Hello. I have a hinkstation e20 422221G with Xeon CPU x3440 @ 2.53g running win 7 ultimate. I understand this CPU has no onboard video capabilties. I have had a quadro fx 380 card in there but wanted to upgrade, so purchased an asus r7 250x I also upgraded the PSU to 500w. When I turn the PC on, the fans come on etc but no boot. I have updated bios to version 5jkt65aus which is the latest available. I also have another issue in that windows states only 1.94gb ram is usable, when infact there is 4gb. I am running win 64x and there is no maximum memory setting. Have tried to look through BIOS to see if there was perhaps a setting where memory was being reserved for video etc, but can't find it. Any suggestions? Your help would be appreciated

First things first, we don't support aftermarket PSUs or desktop/gaming video cards in these systems so there's no guarantees either will work.
With that said, does your system boot whatsoever with the new PSU installed and the rest of the system as it shipped from the factory?  ie: does it boot with the new PSU and the FX380 installed?  If not then your PSU either isn't pinned correctly at the main connector or isn't supplying power to the correct locations.
If the PSU does work and it's only the Asus R7 250X then the simple answer here is that the card is unsupported.  This is either due to the amount of power required or that the E20 doesn't have enough addressing space in the BIOS to handle a 2GB video card.  In this case, hopefully your retailer allows returns as Lenovo cannot provide a workaround for such an issue on this old of a system.
I wish I had better news for you here but trying to turn a commercial workstation into a gaming system isn't without challenges.

How can I get updates for apps with new Apple ID. I have apps that I got for free, and some that I have purchased. I had to create a new Apple ID because I don't have a credit card now.

Apps will always be tied to the ID in which they were purchased or downloaded under. You can not change this unless you buy or download the free  app using the new ID.

  • For the life of me I CAN NOT GET WIN7 TO BOOT WITH RAID SET UP (S20 THINKSTATION)

I've felt like setting up RAID 5 on D10 was much easier, so I've done this before.  However I have not set this up on a Win7 machine on D20 or S20.
I have an image of win7 I have to use.
I start with 3 clean disc all the same.  I set up raid in bios.  I use CTRL+M to set up RAID array.
I load my image onto the RAID array.
When it starts to boot it crapps out at the "Starting Windows" splash screen.
I tried altering my image by making sure I had the Lenovo driver loaded that contain ICH10R driver.  Still same thing.
    Please Help!!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yep.  That was the issue and what was causing the startup to BSOD.
Just needed to tell windows to load the RAID drivers when booting.  Found instructions that worked for me on another site.  Instructions below to "REGEDIT"
    Exit all Windows-based programs.
Press [Win] + R or take the RUN option from the start menu.
Now type regedit there and press Enter Key to open up the Registry Editor Window.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkeys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStor
For each location above:  In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0 [3 is default], and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
    Restart your computer
Go to UEFI/BIOS and enable RAID, Save & Reboot

  • I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

Try a different FW800 cable and also try doing a SMC reset. If neither work try another FW800 device to see if it's recognized, if it is then  you know it's not the Mac it's probably the EHD.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

My printer is a fairly new all-in-one Brother MFC-7860 DW. It is not listed in the iPad AirPrint printers. Can I get it to work with my new iPad2?

If it's not an Airprint enabled printer, you can not natively through your iPad.  BUT, there are apps you can purchase in the App Store, like Print Central ($9), which is what I use myself and works well for my needs.

My company runs Adobe Acrobat XI on a PC.  Our PC went down and we replaced it with a new one.  We need Acrobat XI on it and have bought it already.  How can I get it put onto our new computer without having to buy it again?

    Hi chrisb75729216,
I checked with your account but could not find any order history so you might be using another email address on forums.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from old machine and then install Acrobat on the new machine by activating with the same serial number.
Please download Acrobat XI pro from here: Other downloads
If you have single user license, then remember that the software can be activated on maximum two computers, say your desktop at work and laptop at home.

I have a Mac Mini and I can't get it to work with my Ricoh Aficio MP 161.  Any ideas?

The latest Apple driver support begins with the MP 171.
Here is Ricoh's official driver download page specifically for the Afico MP 161. Note that new drivers for this device were released on Aug 2, and include Lion and Mountain Lion.
Hopefully, this will solve your device issues.

  • I rec'd an iPod Nano and can't get it to sync with playlist. I also have Windows 8. I need help!

I have rec'd an iPod Nano and can't get it to sync with my existing playlist. I am using a Windows 8 Dell laptop. Any suggestions?

One iCloud account has one user name (a .mac or .me email name) and password.  If you have set up multiple accounts in the past then you must choose one and stay with it.  If you don't know the user name, then you have a problem.  If you haven't really begun using iCloud (but you mention trying to get mail, so I'm assuming you have used iCloud before), then use a .mac or .me account you know you have or just sign up for a new account - and be sure to write down the name and password for future use.
If you want to use the account to sync your contacts, email, calendars, etc, then each of your ios devices need to use the same account, otherwise they will be independent of one another.

  • Z68A-GD65 (G3) fails to boot with new Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 OC

    Hi,
I have a problem with my new Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7950 (GV-R795WF3-3GD):
My system fails to boot with this GPU, with the old Radeon HD 4850 everything works fine.
    Here are my system specs:
    MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3)
    CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K
    RAM: 8Gb DDR3-RAM (Corsair)
power supply: be quiet! Pure Power L7 530W
What I have already tried to fix the problem:
    -CMOS Reset
    -other PCI-e slot
    -other power supply (old 750W)
    Nothing worked.
Do I need a Bios update? My current version is V23.7, but I'm not sure whether I can use the latest versions because my CPU is a SandyBridge...

We can't help you woth your vga as it is no MSI product. You can try latest bios for your board (http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z68A-GD65--G3-.html#/?div=BIOS) because the latest bios versions for G3 boards are  working well with Sandy and Ivy. If latest bios should not help and you like to downgrade the bios we can give you the needed files if you ask here.

  • How can I get Lion to work with label printer- Brother  QL 570 or Dymo 450 Turbo?

I can't get Lion to work with label printers, either Brother QL 570 or Dymo Turbo 450. I want to uninstall Lion and use Snow Leopard unless there is a way to make Lion work with these devices. Any ideas?

Dymo has released new drivers since Lion came out. Have you downloaded and
installed them from the Dymo website?
Some people have said that their Dymo label printers were set to off line by Lion, but
worked fine after going to Print & Scan, selecting the Dymo printer, and making sure
it was active/on-line. I had to do that with my Dymo 450 Label Writer.
I cannot offer any tips about Brother, but you may wish to check their website
    for latest drivers.

  • Can't get ibook to boot from external harddrive when hitting option key

    Hello,
After owning a Pismo Powerbook that had it's hardrive replaced --twice--, i'm all about backing my shtuff up for my ibook.
I picked up a Lacie d2 external harddrive today, and used Disk Utility's Restore function to copy everything from the ibook to the drive. I can boot off the Lacie without a problem when I select it as the startup disk from sys preferences.
But I can't get it to boot from the Lacie when I depress the Option key while rebooting or starting.
    any suggestions?
    ibook g4 933   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Let's be sure  you are doing it correctly:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.  Select the desired boot drive (you will have to wait about 20 seconds before you can make the selection) then click on the large right arrow button.  If this is what you are doing and it does not work, then you may need to re-prep the external drive and re-clone.
    1.  Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
After the above re-clone as follows:
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the startup volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Drag the startup volume to the Source entry field.
    5. Select the backup volume from the leftside list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Check the box to Erase Destination.  Skip this step if you've already formatted the drive.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
