Can't get phone call out with volume.

trying to make a phone call and can't hear the ring tone or the person on the other end unless I put them on speaker phone. Any suggestions?

Well, there are two separate volumes for the iPhone. The ringer volume and then the earpiece volume. You control the ringer volume with the volume buttons on the outside of the iPhone. You also control the earpiece volume with those buttons, but can only do that when a call is connected. Another thing that can impact the ringer is if the mute switch, the tiny switch on the side of the iPhone just above the volume buttons. If that is on mute (orange dot showing) you wouldn't hear the ringer. That will not, however, impact the earpiece volume.
Try powering the iPhone off/on with the sleep/wake button and the slide to power off. If that doesn't help, then reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake and the home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. If neither of those two work, you may need to see the Genius.
One last thougth came to mind as I got ready to post this. If you press the volume buttons and look at the screen, does it just say ringer or do you see headphone under it?

  • Can't get phone to sync with multiple Google Calendars?

I set up multiple calendar accounts with Google but have run across an issue.....
When I perform a sync from my phone it only syncs with my first "primary" calendar. The items in my "primary" calendar are the only ones that appear on Google Calendar. However when I enter them on Google Calendar and then perform a sync all the items appear on my phone.
Any insight as to how I can get them to sync both ways?

I am trying to figure this out. I added my dads calendar to mine in a regular browser, and after syncing with my phone, it shows up in the preferences in calendar view options as another calendar that is with my gmail account, and it is set to be visible in the view all calendar. but it does not show, neither does it show when you just go to view that calendar alone. i dont get why this is happening if it is there in my preferences.
im going to just add my dads gmail account to my calendar, but it would be so much easier if all my gmail calendars that are tied to my one gmail account would show. is palm working on a fix for this??

The short solution is to go to Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls OFF.
However, as Csound points out, you should not really be sharing an Apple ID with anyone. See: How to Stop Sharing an Apple ID.

My iPod Classic is seen by Windows but not by iTunes.  I have reset it, gone to disk mode and it won't show up in iTunes.  There appears to be music on it in a file called MUSICSAVE.  How can I get this to work with iTunes again?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

My iPhone 4 shows the carrier name, I can go online with my data plan, but there are no bars and I can't make phone calls.
It worked for some time, less than a week, I made phone calls and all, and all of a sudden the problem mentioned above happened. Now I can't make any phone calls. I can go online with it, even with my Data plan, I can go to the app store (of course) but can't make any phone calls.
    Please help, this is frustrating.

Did you already try the troubleshooting mentioned here? http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/calls/
Also try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple lo comes up again. You will not lose any data doing this.

  • How can I get the best out of my battery life?

There are a variety of things you can do to extend your device battery life, and use your phone for longer periods of time to see you through the day.
Set your screen to timeout after a period of inactivity. This way your phone is not sitting idle with the screen backlight consuming extra energy. The recommended screen timeout is 30 seconds, but most phones will allow from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.
Turn off location services (GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not using these functions. When they're on, your phone constantly searches for your current location and open networks, which has a big impact on battery life.
Turn down the screen brightness. For example, on an iPhone 4 the lowest brightness setting gives roughly 6.5 hours of continuous use, whereas the highest setting gives roughly 3.5 hours. You can always adjust the brightness when you're outside so you can still see your screen clearly. Some devices have an auto-brightness setting, where the phone adjusts the screen brightness depending on the light around it.
Close your applications. On smartphones, returning to the ‘home' screen only minimises your apps – they keep running in the background. Closing your apps fully will save power; for example, on Samsung Galaxy devices hold down the home button for two seconds to see a list of all open apps. You can then swipe these to the left of the screen to exit them completely. On an Apple product, double press the home button to bring up all active applications and exit from there.

Re: How can I get the best out of my battery life?
    Hi,
When I make phone calls people on the other end have difficulty hearing me. They describe as they can hardly hear me as if I was speaking through the pillow etc). I am not touching any buttons and obviously it is not mute. This was happening couple of time in June, then every now and then. Recently it happened a few time in 2 weeks. I was trying to check if it was a reception issue but the place I spoke from is my office I make 70% of phone calls from. Can you book time for me in repair shop and address the issue.
    Thank you.

  • Can't Text or Call Out on iPhone 4S

Beginning five days ago, I started having issues with being unable to send text or call out.  I have checked that iMessage is on, I have reset the phone several times, reset the network settings, turned cellular service off and back on, airplane mode on and off, bluetooth is off, wifi is off and do not disturb is off.  I have roughly three bars for service.  The phone periodically snaps out of it and allows texts to come through, allowing me to text and make calls, and suddenly it will not allow again.  Is this a SIM card issue?  Software/Firmware issue?  I currently updated to 6.1 (10B142), but this issue was taking place two days before that and upgrading didn't solve the issue.  How do I fix this issue?  Is it a problem with the iPhone or a problem that Verizon can fix?  Help!!

Still same issues I have tried all of these tips and it seems like I am getting worst results now my phone doesn't ring nor register any calls at all. As well as ,my text messages are not going through. I only been a customer for not even two months it seems like I may have made a mistake switching. Also when I am lucky enough to be able to send a call through the receipent says my phone is breaking up and they cannot hear me. So what is the resolution now...

I'm really sorry to hear about the problems encountered with your phone, CantrellDigital! I'll do all I can to help you find a solution. My best suggestion for resolving your concerns would be to complete a 'Restore' of your device. This will return your phone to it's original factory setting and hopefully resolve the problem you described. Select the link to follow the instructions: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=47616  Please let me know of this resolves your concerns.
