Can't get photo's off iPod colour
Hi, can anyone help please?
I have a 20gb colour iPod and can't get my photos OFF! When I connect it and iTunes opens up it recognises the songs I have but not the photo's. This is the same when checking the "settings" and "about" (Photos 0)on the iPod. I can view the photo's no problem on the iPod.
I have around 150 photos from my holiday and downloaded them directly from my digital camera to iPod via the camera connector
Paul,
next time you connect your iPod, switch the "hard disc use" on the iPod preferences in iTunes on. Then you might be able to copy them from the folder. If this doesn't work, search for some addons that enables you to copy data from your iPod back to the computer. You can find them here http://www.ipodsoft.com/ and here http://www.ilounge.com/index.php
Hope this helps!

I had to get a new hard drive. I think I can manage to get my music off by other articles I saw. However one thing that I am very worried about is getting my pictures off, which are 4.000 plus. This is my main concern. How can I do this?
When I click my iPod from desktop, I go to Photo's and there's a Photo Database and then Thumbs with about 12 .ithmb files...
ThanksThere are various programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Keith's iPod Photo Reader Mac only
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod -
Can't get photos on my ipod, update error
I just bought my ipod last night. Immediatly when plugging it in I got an error that said:
"The ipod can not be updated. The required file can not be found."
All of my songs transfered onto it though. I have it set-up to transfer my photos over after it transfers the songs, but it doesn't do it. I've watched the video on transfering photos and it all looks right, but the photos won't transfer. The only thing it isn't doing is showing the number of picture to be transfered at the bottom, nothing is there. It sees all my photo folders though. And every time I try to update my ipod, I get the above error.
I have installed the latest version of the ipod updater, I updated my iTunes, I reset and even restored my ipod, and nothing is working. Please help. I want to be able to load my photos on my ipod and I want to stop getting this error!
Thanks!
IBM Thinkpad Windows XP ProI called Apple Support and after an hour and a half, we figured out the problem.
In my "My Pictures" folder I have subfolders grouping my pictures by year. The year subfolders have their own subfolders grouping the pictures by month, and sometimes there are more subfolders in the month folders grouping my pictures by event. And basically, you can't transfer over subfolders. And that's why my photos were not being transfered, and that's why I was getting the "file not found error" (Because it was only finding subfolders and no pictures in my "My Pictures" folder.)
My way around this was to create a new folder and just copy over all the photos I wanted on my ipod into it, and have the ipod update from that folder.
I was a little frustrated because the reason I got a 60GB ipod was so I could use it to back-up my photos in a better way then just burning DVDs, so the tech support person walked me though how to back up my photos to my ipod, so they are all on there, just not all viewable (the only viewable ones are the ones I had the ipod update form the new folder I created. In order to do put them on the ipod as a back-up, I had to make sure the "disk use" box was checked in the ipod preferences under the music tab.
Hope this helps others with this problem.

Can't get audio content off iPod onto MacBook iTunes
Just did some recording with the iPod using an attached microphone. When I open iTunes, I can see the directory with the audio recordings (in Voice Memos directory on the iPod) and even listen to them, but I can't get them to transfer to my music libary on my Macbook iTunes. I need those recordings to insert into iMovie. Try dragging then to iMovie and that didn't work either.
Shooting in the dark here, but a program like Senuti may help.
Or there is a manual method of moving content from iPod to computer described here. -
Can't get corrupted song off ipod
Hello! I've run into a problem with my ipod touch - there is a corrupted song that I cannot take off- I've tried almost everything! It's a duplicate (there are two of the same song in the list, and the corrupted one doesn't play at all). Not that big of a deal, but it's frustrating because there's no way to get rid of it. In iTunes, it does not show up on the list of songs "On This Ipod". Since I have iOS 6, there's no way to manually delete it. I even tried going into the settings and erasing all my music from the ipod, and even then it was still there (only one left). I suppose completely resetting the ipod would get rid of the song, but I'd really rather not do that. Any ideas?
Thank you so much!
(also, I haven't gotten a chance to update to 6.1 yet. Would that help at all?)Paul,

Getting photos back off iPod onto computer
My hard drive in my G5 went bad but the good news is all my photos (2800+) are backed up on my iPod.
My fear is that when I connect the ipod to another computer, the iPod will be erased and I will loose everything. What is the best way to do this?http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93446

Can't get some songs off my ipod!!
For some reason I can't get some songs off my old ipod. recently I lost all my songs on my new ipod so I went to my old ipod followed the steps of extracting files from ipod to itunes and come to find out that some songs didn't go into itunes. The files I want were downloaded using imesh and they are mp3 format. For some reason when I go into my computer and open my ipod's music folder the songs are not there yet they have to be because I can see and play them on itunes when I connect the old ipod. But I can see one of the files in a folder except that one file is really the entire album. It's about 13 songs and I can't seem to seperate them. So is there anyway to directly transfer all files from the ipod to itunes instead of doing the copy folder steps as described in apple's "transferring music guide"? Also I tried consilidating library and that didn't work either.
There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

My IPod it telling me to restore factory settings. I know this will cause me to lose all of the music on it so far. How can I get the music off of it before I restore the settings? I really do not want to lose thousands of songs.
What is telling you that and what is the wording?
Can you make a backup via iTunes:
iOS: How to back up
Can you transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
If not then there is nothing you can do except restore the iPod and thus erase the iPod. -
How can i get my music off of my email to my iPod touch 2nd gen and iPod 4th gen?
How can i get my music off of my email to my iPod touch 2nd gen and iPod 4th gen?
Find an app to which you can save the attachment and which also uses file sharing
iOS: About File Sharing
or similar to get the music into your computer. Import into iTunes library and sync to the iPod. There is no direct way to get music into your iPod Music app besides purchasing from iTunes or syncing from your iTunes library
GoodReader should work but I do not think it is available for the 2G -
I just installed iOS5 and iCloud on 4th gen iPod Touch. All is well EXCEPT that I can't get the on/off switch in "Settings" to stay on for automatic downloads of music and apps. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing some previous set-up step?
Thanks for your help.to enable icloud you tap "settings" -> "icloud". Make sure you sign in with a valid iCloud Apple-ID. Then you can turn on the various features that are part of iCloud.
Video or Music Syncing is not a feature of it. Instead you use itunes in the cloud which let's you re-download purchases. This however depends if the service is available in your country.
Worldwide only purchased books and apps are supported for free-of-charge-redownload on your devices. -
HT5085 Can I use I tune match to get my music off iPod classic?
Can I use I tune match to get my music off iPod classic?
The iPod classic shouldn't be used to store the only copy of music or be considered a backup device. Put the music on a regular external drive or DVDs.

I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod? And if I can't put it on my ipod how do I get my money back? I registered my ipod on iTunes, why was a song I can't put on my ipod even offered to me? What a rip?
Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
- Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
- Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:

Mac-format to PC-format: How can I get my music off an external hard drive?
I had a mac-formatted iPod for years, and all of my music is on an external hard drive that is hooked up to that computer. When I got a new iPod after mine was stolen, I had to get a PC-formatted iPod. How can I get my music off of the hard drive and onto my PC (and eventually my iPod)? I tried uploading the files into my iTunes account on the Mac, but they don't show up in my account on the PC. Most of the music are CDs that I copied onto my computer years ago, and had on my old iPod. Help!
Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:
*C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
**The file you want is called ''places.sqlite''
You can copy that file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox by going back to ''C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>'' and overwriting the current file. Keep in mind, doing this will erase your current bookmarks. -
