Can't get quicktime player to play captured FCE movies

we updated our groups computer to a mini with lion. We captuer movies with FCE 4.1 using fire wire or s-vidio. It all works fine (capture save etc) in FCE. The problem is when you want to pre-view them from the desktop. When you double click the cip (which is shown as data type: quicktime movie) quicktime player opens, but will not play the clip. if i transfer the file to an external drive and then put that drive on a computer with snowlepord, quicktime player 10 plays the clip fine. What do i need to do or fix quicktime player in lion? I suppose i can download quicktime 7 pro from an Snowlepord machine, but i would like to get lion's player to work

re-read my post and i must clarify it just a bit. The sound plays on the mini with lion, but no picture. The rest is still true. Again if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

I can't get my player to play videos while other apps are open IPAD 4gen
Whenever, I have pages open or any other app I press the home button twice, and then I swipe to the right and obtain the menu that allows me to alter brightness or sound. At this point I press play and nothing works. However, once I go back to my youtube page, and press the play button then it works. If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

just click the serial number in itunes ... geeze... just kidding
you might be able to find it on the mac...
in finder do your username under places then library then application support then MobileSync then Backups
the shortest folder name should be the UDID
of course that assumes it ever made a backup...
if it made more than one there will be some -date-blah on the end...

  • HT3775 how to get quicktime player to play dolby ac3 files?

I would like to get quicktime to recognize and play Dolby AC3 audio files. Anyone know how to accomplish this? Trying watch a movie with no sound.

Your bought WMV? Do you mean Flip4mac? If you just mean the ancient Windows Media Player for Mac, it won't work.
Reading this set of directions you export to WMV and name the file with a WMV extension:
    http://www.flip4mac.com/pdfs/Flip4MacWMVQuickStart.pdf
If you don't have Flip4mac, that is, the $50 version, not the $29 version, you can't export, just import.

  • Can't get Quicktime videos to play once uploaded - using iWeb 08

Please help. I just updated my work website and uploaded a few quicktime videos of my TV spots. These same spots were uploaded and played fine on my last website update last year. But this time around, they're not working so well. Once uploaded, if you click on the controls under the screen, they don't respond. If you double-click the actual screen, the video starts and stops playing.
How can I get my quicktime videos to play like they're supposed to on my site? I'm using iWeb 08 and my version of Safari is 5.0.2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked. However, it's three different videos on three different pages, and each video is pretty much the only thing on each page.
That would be great if you would take the time to access my site and see if you can find what the problem is. My URL is www.haleyturner.com. Click on the first square, the second square, and the last square to access the quicktime video pages.

  • I can't get flash player to play flash videos

I just bought an 24" 2.16 Core 2 Duo iMac and migrated my accounts from my G4 PowerBook and G4 800mhz iMac.
I go to websites such as Jay Leno's garage and LeftLaneNews ( http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/11/17/ford-bold-moves-22-professional-drivers-o n-a-closed-course/#more-4422 ) and the Flash Player 9 videos don't play. No erros. It just acts like it is forever downloading them and ... nothing.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Safari. I found the Flash uninstall for Mac OS X on Adobe's website and ran that (with all browsers closed" then downloaded and re-installed Flash 9. It shows that Flash 9 successfully installed.

Just to make it clear. I still can play Flash videos.

  • Can't get Quicktime Player to work with an old program

Hi, I've been trying to get a game of mine to work, and it needs quicktime 4.
I had quicktime 4 running great for a while, but it suddenly stopped working a while ago. I couldn't reinstall it for some reason, it never seemed to get completely off of my computer and it ran worse every time I tried to uninstall and reinstall.
So, I decided that I'd try updating to the newest quicktime, but quicktime still does not work. It shows up in my programs and features section on the control panel, but will not uninstall, even if I prompt it to. It starts the installation wizard, gets going, then stops.
I'm pretty much out of ideas, it seems like a hybrid of quicktime 4 and 7 are stuck pretty well in my computer.

Your not likely to get QT4 to install on a newer windows operating system. My guess would be the only chance of that happening would be to create a dual boot system with a older version of windows OS that is compatible with QT4.
I'd try using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/ to remove any old QT installation files to help with the uninstall of QT

  • How can I get Quicktime videos to play fully screen?

I recently downloaded Quicktime Pro to my windows computer in order to be able to play Quicktime movies in full screen, but they still only play in the small video pane. Everything seems to be properly installed using the key I received, and my programs now indicate that I do have Quicktime Pro installed. Why doesn't it play in full screen?
    Dell Inspiron E1505   Windows XP

Look under the Help menu and click "Installed Plug-ins".
Do you have QuickTime associated with that file type?
You set them using the QuickTime System Preference / Advanced tab MIME Settings button.
Quit and relaunch your browser after making changes.

I can't get my QuickTime Player to play; I get an error message that says I need to reset my Proxy Server settings.  WHA??

Norton is probably the issue. It can really screw things up, that is one reason I never use it. See if you can temporarily disable it and then try the sync and see if that works.
On a Mac, there is a way to run a program that repairs permissions for the user, not a Windows thing.

  • Can not get quicktime to work

i have downloaded quicktime 7 and purchased quicktime pro and am using windows xp. i can get the quicktime icon to open up and all of the options are highlighted but it will not play a dvd. i have gone to the option of open file and it will show i have a dvd in the d drive but it will not open it or play it. the dvd will play if i use the windows dvd player but i was hoping to transfer some of my dvd music videos into my itunes. it seems to me that i got ripped of $32 by apple because the quicktime does not work as advertized, it shows the player playing movies etc but the version i bought will not dod anything. does anyone know how to get the quicktime player to play my dvd's?

QuickTime Player can't open MPEG-2 formats without the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).
It also can't export the audio from any "muxed" track files (MPEG 1 or 2 formats) or .swf (Flash).

  • How can i get quicktime to work on my windows vista

everytime i download the latest update of quicktime, it says it cannot find the "active x control" can someone explain to me what that is, and how can i get quicktime working so i can have my iTunes running again

I was just on a windows computer with some horsepower power. I can't get it, the video would play fine, but no audio. Perhaps Jon could take a look? I can't pick up anything on it, other than it's a .mov
I no longer have home access to a Windows machine or Mac running Windows OS. As I am not an HTML programmer, I did not check the page coding but had no problem playing any of the video content on the linked page using the Safari browser. Spot checked the source files and found them to be typical MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) files with a frame rate of 30 fps using CABAC entropy Main Profile Level 3.0 (SD) and Level 3.1 (HD) encodings in MOV file containers. As to audio, only one file—Video+(1).MOV (the "Raven, Salma and Kenneth" Claymation Practice file)—contained an AAC (LC) audio track. Except for the use of capitalized extensions (which I don't think should cause a problem), the videos themselves look standard and should be playable on any system using any compatible media or plug-in players that support standard MPEG-4 content and the MOV file container.
    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  • How can I get quicktime pro 7 running

I bought quicktime pro 7 a couple of years ago and have a registration code.  At the time I used the program to make some time lapse movies.  I'd like to make a couple of time lapse movies again but quicktime pro 7 is no where to be found.  This probably ha something to do with updating the os between then and now.  The question is how can I get quicktime pro 7 running again?  The unlocking instructions I have for quicktime pro 7 that I received with the key do not correspond with what the system preferences now show.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  I am currently running OS X version 10.9.5 on an older iMac.

Open the QuickTime 7 player(if it’s not installed, click here), choose Registration from the QuickTime Player 7 menu, and supply your key there.

How do I get QuickTime Player to read ogg audio files?

For Quicktime player to play it, it needs to be converted
to one of the formats listed here:

Otherwise, you will need to use different player software.

  • Where can I get media player 8.0 ?

I am trying to play a video clip with media player 9.0. I read the postings in the user forum that 9.0 does not show the video when used from LabVIEW and that the corrective action is to downgrade to media player 8.0. Where can I get this player , and can it coexist with media player 9.0. I've searched all over the 8.0 and can't seem to find it anywhere - thanks

You are right... Seems like Media Player 8.0 is well hidden by MS.
Will version 7.1 do the trick?
    If so follow this link:
    link
The only reference to version 8.0 that I found was for a palm-PC.
The full download of Media Player at the MS website does not list version 8.0.
    See link: link
According to some download websites... and I quote: "You won't see a link for Version 8.0 here. Windows Media Player 8.0 is NOT FREE. It's only available with Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional."
I should ask this question. Which OS are you running? Is it Win-XP? If so, it should be part of your installation CD.
