Can't get rid of an old user ID

Using an iPad, every time an app or iCloud tries to open, a window pops up asking for a password which it associates with an old user ID, which was erased over a year ago.
I can sign into other things like iTunes with no problem.

Were those apps purchased with the ID that was "erased" over a year ago? If you can sign into iTunes, then I assume that you can purchase songs, movies, and TV Shows. Can you purchase and update apps with your current ID?
You cannot erase an Apple ID anyway. You can sign out of the ID, you can change the ID and you can quit using the ID, but you can never erase an Apple ID.

  • Where can I get rid of an old Power Mac G3 Beige?

Where is the best place to get rid of an old Power Mac G3 Beige? Are there sites out there where Mac enthusiasts would buy it or its part? It has no hard drive. Also have the Multiple Scan 720 Display Monitor.

Glen.. I'm looking for some 256 sticks of RAM - PC-66 or 100 will do.. and if you want to move that CPU card - is it a Sonnet ZIF?
I have a Yosemite blue and white G3 that's living here while it's owner gets his living situation sorted out.. it was in rough shape as it sat in a few inches of water and is a bit corroded but not so much it's dead.
I'm cobbling it into a bit more stable, modern state for him so his 11 year old daughter can use it with her iPod. So far I have an 80GB hard drive and a Lite-on CD burner installed. I don't have much in the way of $$ right now, but can pay postage, if you want to part bits out. I can mail you a G3/266 processor to swap it out if you still want to have a working machine to part with.
I was going to use the bits from my beige for the Yosemite, but the Quicksilver that landed on my door turned out to be a boat anchor, so I bit the bullet and swapped out a power supply and got the G3 working again as a music server.
Am still on the hunt for freebie, useable parts..

  • How can i get rid of an old email i used as an apple id

I had an old  email address i used as an apple id. I have a new one now but occasioally the email and id which i no longer have keeps popping up. how can i get rid of it from my iphone and ipad?

    Hi Chuck,
If you are occasionally prompted for your previous Apple ID, you may find the following article helpful:

  • I can't get rid of an old email that I set up apps on in the past. I don't have a password. I can't update anything.

I have an old email that I can't get rid of. Every time I try to install app updates it asks for my password (which I don't remember, and I don't have that email to receive anything). I have gone to settings in icloud and I only have my updated info. Help! I can't even play some of the games without doing an update.

    Hi THIVELY,
Since applications from the app store are linked to the Apple ID - in this case your old email - used to purchase or obtain them, you will need to have the password to that Apple ID in order to update those apps. This article will tell  you how to reset that password so you can continue to use that Apple ID -
If you forgot your Apple ID password
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • I just updated my MacBook pro early 2011 model to OSX 10.9 and was forced to create a new user(administrator) and ended up with a different configuration. If I login with my original user name everything is back. How can I get rid of the other user name?

I have two user names with Administrator privelages and my MacBook keeps booting up to the wrong one and I have the wrong configuration since I updated to OSX 10.9. I would like to get back to my original User name which I used to boot up to. When I go to the User Groups and Preferences it doesn't allow me to delete the un-wanted user.
Does anybody have any suggestions how I can fix this? I can't seem to recover Time Capsule back-ups prior to the OSX upgrade even though I have been faithfully backing up to a Time Machine.
    Help please.

First of all, open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options, and set your old user account in "Automatic login". By doing this, your computer will always log in with your old account.
Then, log in your old account, where you will be able to delete the new user that OS X Mavericks forced you to create. Other users have reported the same problem

  • On my mac mini, the old 2.0.0.9 version is the default browser even though I downloaded v.3.16.19. How can I get rid of the old version once and for all?

I would like to eliminate the old version completely, as it comes up automatically and I don't see a way of deleting it from the mac.

I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.

  • How can I get rid of an old iphone account as blocking all my streaming

I keep getting an old iphone account id popping up and asking me for passwork to access apple, I have registered a new id but cant seem to use it as the old one won't disappear, any ideas?

Thanks for the help, I have changed all my icloud, itunes and Apple to a new account name, but its just that when the phone 4s, asks to sign in it doesn't give me the option of choosing which account I want to sigh into, it just brings up my old account name. I'm thinking I may have to visit and Apple shop.

  • I have 2 Pages icons. How can I get rid of the old one?*

I can't gey it out of launchpad. It won't go in the trash. It's confusing to have 2 icons.

    Hi rointhestudy,
I understand you have duplicate icons of the Pages application in Launchpad. Here is some more information:
OS X Lion: About duplicate icons in Launchpad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4836
Launchpad will display an icon for each copy of an application that is currently installed (as well as any aliases to those applications), so you will see more than one icon for an application if you have more than one version of the application installed or aliased.
It sounds like we want to remove the duplicate from your computer:
OS X Mountain Lion: Install, update, and uninstall apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11356
To uninstall apps you purchased from the Mac App Store, hold down an app’s icon in Launchpad until all the icons begin to jiggle. Click an app’s delete button (x) to uninstall the app.
If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, that app can’t be uninstalled. For example, apps that come with OS X can’t be uninstalled.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Getting rid of an old email address when trying to sign into iCloud and iTunes

I have recently had to change my email address because of hacking. Now I can't get rid of the old address from sign in boxes for iTunes. And iCloud. I have changed my apple sign in and password and I'd but it doesn't seem to affect the rest and they still show the old email address but won't let me in even with the bold password.

Okay this is what you have to do because I had the same exact problem:
First thing is to remember just because you don't use your e-mail address anymore doesn't mean it stops becoming an account with Apple.
Theres a couple of ways this could have got started. It be best if he told me A little more about what you know and that way we can figure it out precisely together.
But I was say to make sure that you're connected to the Internet.
try to reset your apple id (email address that you use with apple as an account) password by going to AppleID.apple.com.
Apple provides two ways the reset your password
    1) correctly answer your birthday and answer security questions
    2) send a reset password e-mail through a process called e-mail authentication
If you are unable to do either one of these you will need to stop and call Apple and speak with a special department called account security. They will need to verify your identity against records you might have on your account but do not see at this moment. They could then send an reset e-mail to whatever e-mail address you desire as a workaround. ( If they can verify you are the account holder)
The other method is only if you have  on made an "edit "  to your primary Apple ID, but forgot to sign out of settings iCloud first.
To clarify, you would have changed the  pre-existing E-mail address to a new different e-mail address that you would rather use now.
in order to fix this problem,  you need to go back to AppleID.apple.com and revert the new e-mail address back to the old e-mail address temporarily.
You do this by clicking on the word "edit" to the right of the primary Apple ID.
You're switching it back to the old e-mail address so that way it matches what is on your settings >ICloud section on your phone.
Once it matches again, then you want to click on the words sign out or delete account at the bottom.
Once you have done this ....then you can change (EDIT) your e-mail address back to the one you want to use on the website (appleid.apple.com)
This should resolve your issue. THis is still leaving me to assume alot so if theres more you can share i can give you a more precise answer if this doesnt resolve your issue.

  • Can't get rid of old screen name in iChat

when I first got my iMac a couple years ago, I was experimenting with the apps, including iChat. In iChat, I setup an account using a screen name that I no longer want to use, but when I try logging into iChat using the AIM account with the screen name I want, the "user name" that shows up in iChat is the first one I used when I was experimenting for the first time with iChat.
How do I get rid of this old, unwanted screen name? I tried clicking on the minus sign in the list of users to delete the account and tried signing up for a new iChat account using my AIM screen name/password; neither worked (when I tried logging in with my AIM info and clicking on the button to set up a new iChat account, I got sent to the AIM web site that wanted me to input all my info again then sent me to the site to download AIM - which I already have.) I could find nothing in the iChat preferences other than the minus sign I referred to but that won't allow me to definitively delete the unwanted screen name/handle.
Is there some place I can find the iChat preferences in the system folder, maybe, and delete them so next time I start iChat a new, blank set of preferences will be opened that will allow me to set the username I want? If this will work, where is this file located?
    Thanks.
P.S. I got Skype recently to try, but like some of the features in iChat so would rather use iChat if I can get it to use the name I want and have with AIM.

    Hi,
    Pic first
    Handle = Screen Name.
Name = Your Details as per your My Card (Head and Shoulders iCon) in the Address Book - Or the User that is Logged in to the Mac.
Each Buddy List will show the same Name but a different Handle based on the Screen Name for that Buddy List.
If you only have one Buddy List (other than the Bonjour One) and you Delete it then the Buddy List Disappears - Problem Solved. (Presumably you are re-adding a New Screen Name ?)
Pic of the Minus Button I am talking about.
Multiple Buddy List are created by adding more then One Screen Name to the Accounts List (Previous Pic)
I am a little confused where you were when you did this:-
    I tried clicking on the minus sign in the list of users to delete the account and tried signing up for a new iChat account using my AIM screen name/password;
"List of Users" sounds like you were in System Preferences > Accounts.
You can "Delete" an Account here. It is not actually removed from the Users Folder (Hard Drive/Users) but is locked in a way that no-one has access and they are Removed from the Login Screen when the Mac Starts Up.
DO NOT DELETE ANY CLOSED ACCOUNT FOLDER In the Users Folder.
But if you use the same Screen Name in another Mac User Account the same Handle will appear.
You will see my GoogleTalk Account is headed "GoogleTalk" and my AIM Account as "Main AIM Account" These are set in the Description field in the iChat > Preferences > Accounts.
The Default if you have one account that logs into AIM is for it to read "AIM Buddy List"
    Similar for one Jabber Account.
With more accounts of any one type they take on the info in the Description Field - which itself by default is the Screen Name.
Are you trying to create a New Mac User Account and use the same AIM Screen Name there ?
Are you trying to just change AIM Screen Names ?

I created a new apple id because the previous one no longer exists as an email (domain had to be cancelled). I keep seeing the old one pop up in my iPhone for which I don't remember the password. How can I get rid of it??? Or how can I reset the password if the email doesn't exist??? I also tried answering a question (my date of birth) but it says it's wrong.
I'm really frustrated with the apple id!!!
    Frustrated!!!

In one of the help pages for managing your Apple ID (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), it shows two separate sections, one for Apple ID and one for Primary Email address. When I go to manage my Apple ID, I see only a single section for both. Can the two be 'separated', especially when you face the situation of having to discontinue your email address for some reason?
I also noticed that when navigating to Apple ID Support Communities, it shows my nickname 'dishdy'. How and when did I insert this? In the current sequence for creating an Apple ID I don't see this. In my current profile I don't see this.
In any case, I have freed myself from my previous Apple ID (@artemis.it) on my iPhone.
    Thanks for your help.

  • How can I get rid of old books that I have deleted from my device? It still shows up as purchased books on "Icloud".

How can I get rid of old books that I have deleted from my device but still shows up as "purchased books" on "Icloud". I don't want to see some of these books at all. I can sort by one that are PDFs and ones currently on device, but it still gives option to show those old titles. Does anyone know how to erase your "Icloud" history, please?

Nooooooo! lol... If I want to download again I will, I don't want an electronic trail. Plus when I have Ibooks open, sometimes I will accidently hit the item and it will immediatly try to download it. The problem with that is that its "Time magazines Best Photos of 2012" etc and it locks up my IPAD cuz of sheer size of the book. So I would like it gone from the history. Isn't there a way to clear the history?

  • Apple Users Can't Get Rid Of The New 'Super Cookies' That Track Private Web Browsing

Further to the article "Apple Users Can't Get Rid Of The New ‘Super Cookies’ That Track Private Web Browsing" https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-users-cant-rid-super-180500863.html, is there a solution to resolve this security issue?
    Here's an excerpt from the above mentioned article;
"Apple users are particularly vulnerable, as their devices do not have a function that lets users delete super cookies from their browsers.
Most websites place what’s called a “cookie” on visitors’ computers, which is used to track them and record their preferences. It’s how websites can remember your password, for example. Like your web browsing history, they’re easy to delete. If you use your browser’s “private browsing” mode they’re never saved in the first place — and advertisers can't track you, and other computer users can't go back and see what you looked at.
However, a flaw in a modern web security feature called “HTTP Strict Transport Security” (HSTS) allows websites to plant “super cookies” that can be used to track web users’ browsing habits even when private browsing is enabled.
    Here’s how it works.
Security researcher Sam Greenhalgh writes that HSTS “allows a website to indicate that it should aways be accessed using a secure connection that encrypts your communication with the site.” This “flag” is then saved by your web browser, ensuring that any future visits to the website are secure. But this can also be abused, using this feature to store a unique number that can be used to track your web browser.
And because HSTS carries over into private browsing, it means the “super cookie” can be used to track you whether you’re attempting to cover your steps or not.
Greenhalgh says that Apple’s Safari web browser is especially vulnerable to the exploit. While clearing cookies on Mozilla’s Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera also erases HSTS flags, deleting the super cookies, there’s no way to do so on Safari on iOS devices.
This means that if you’ve had super cookies placed on your iPad or iPhone, there’s effectively no way to get rid of them short of reformatting the entire machine."

    Hi all,
I tried this with IOS 7.1.2 Safari on an iPad retina and the super cookie did not persist after web data and history was deleted.
I also tried this with IOS 8.1.2 Safari on an iPhone 6, and the super cookie persisted even after deleting web history and website data.
Evidently it was ok on 7.1.2 and broken on 8.1.2.
