Can't get rid of ask.

Tried response to same question but ask toolbar updater and ask toolbar do not appear in program listing. Tried other suggestions - no luck

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.
Then use the '''Browse ....''' button below the '''''Post a Reply''''' text box to upload the screenshot.

How can I get rid of 'ask jeeves'?

I have previously used google for searches. My home page now shows 'Ask Jeeves'. I am now unable to bookmark pages and I no longer have easy access to hotmail.
I started using firefox because it gave me exactly what I wanted so there are now two choices:
Get back to my previous setup
Leave firefox.

Some thing you installed after Firefox added that Ask Jeeves garbage.
Your installed plugins shows this known piece of Malware - un-install it thru the Control Panel.

If that doesn't get rid of Ask Jeeves, is there anything else in the Control Panel that you don't recall installing?

How can I get rid of 'Ask' in the list of search engines, which always comes back (and at the top of the list) even though I check the 'Remove' box in 'Manage Search Engines'?

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for ask.com via the Filter at the top of that page. 
You can reset all ask.com related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default values.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

I can't get rid of Ask as my search engine in upper right corner. I remove it and it comes right back when I open Firefox again. I want to use Google.

I have removed some of the other search engines....ie, Bing, eBay, etc and they stay gone. But Ask comes back again and again!!

I left Facebook over fourteen days ago. I can't get rid of the interference on my ipad. I get messages asking for my Facebook password. I've tried all I can think of, no luck. How do I get rid of Facebook or find my password.

Ok....so I have found a work around....if not a complete solution.
I'm not sure if deleting your music, uninstalling ITunes and reinstalling and adding your music back will actually affect it but I tried it again. Started from scratch.
I checked the box for "Manually manage music and videos"
Then I moved my music to phone via drag and drop, usually just boxing a row of albums at a time.
I went back into my Iphone and began the sync. The message popped up, "1 Item could not be synced" and the sync stopped. At that point, I just clicked sync again and it started back up again. It took a few go's but eventually I got all my music on my phone.
Ironically enough, the only songs that wouldn't sync were songs that I had actually purchased from Itunes....kinda odd

You can turn it off:
Settings > Passcode > enter your passcode > Turn Passcode Off.
For security's sake, I recommend changing the amount of time that passes before it locks as opposed to turning off completely:

Using a Mac. Opening a link to Power Point slides -- get message--"You have chosen to open etc. I have checked the box that says "do this automatically for files like this from now on" -- but it never does. I still have to click OK.

The Ask toolbar that I unfortunately downloaded has replaced Google and makes everything run more slowly. I can't get rid of it.

I was trying to play a media file and was advised to download KM player. It asked if I wanted to download a toolbar too. I thought it might not work properly if I didn't follow suggestions, so I did. The toolbar was "Ask" and it replaced the Google toolbar. I don't know how to get rid of it. I found a box next to the toolbar at the top right-hand corner of the screen and unchecked everything on it (add-on bar, menu bar, etc.) Then I clicked on Firefox at the top of the page and clicked on Help and then on Restart with add-ons disabled. I went to "My Computer" to look at "Add and Remove Programs" and couldn't find "Ask". I tried downloading Google Chrome, and it had a Google toolbar -- in the address bar, which I didn't want. I wonder how to get rid of "Ask" in Firefox. (Also in Internet Explorer!)

Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
