Can't get rid of mobile browser download ad

When I log on there is a foxfire mobile browser download ad. I can't use it and can't find any way to get rid of it. Also, I have tried multiple times to change my home page using the instructions in your help video and it doesn't work.

On which page is this?
Is that one of the snippets on the about:home page?
Can you attach a screenshot?

  • How can I get rid of tabbed browsing? I positively hate it and none of the choices in tools get rid of them.

I was using an older version of FF because the newer versions had messed up private browsing and I had the option of deciding if I wanted tabbed browsing. I switched to a newer version because a lot of sites didn't work with the older version.
I went into tools - tabs and checked what I used to use not to get tabbed browsing. Doesn't work.
Please tell me how to get rid of tabbed browsing and how to switch back and forth to private and regular browsing without opening a new tab/window.
If I can't get rid of tabbed browsing I guess I'll muddle along with an older version.

Note that we don't have anything to do with Firefox development. The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.
Also, to avoid this thread turning into a back and forth argument about Firefox's UI, I'll be closing this thread as your initial problem was solved. If you feel the need to open a new thread for a new support request, please do so.

  • Can't get rid of an unwanted download

About two months ago, when iTunes was offering the series premiere of Roommates, I downloaded it, but I downloaded the HD episode first on accident. I quickly got the regular edition and it downloaded fine, but since I know that my iPod Video can't handle anything in HD, I've been trying to get rid of the download. I don't want to let the whole thing download for over four or whatever hours. I tried to delete the file from my "Downloads" folder in my iTunes folder thing and just nothing works. Can anyone tell me how I can rid of the undownloaded HD download without having to fully download it? Thanks!

    Welcome to AD!
You can't get rid of it, but you can ask iTS support to remove it from your download queue.

It might just be easier to let the thing download and then delete it, quite frankly.

  • How can I get rid of a small "download" pop up?

whatever I do online on my computer is always a small "download" popup in my way. How can I get rid of it? I have no idea where it comes from.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 27.0: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

Sorry but this is only iPhoto support. There is no "all over the computer" forum
To stop the messages in iPhoto open the iPhoto preferences and remove all references to MM. Do the same in the system preferences

  • Can't get rid of mobile me mail account

    Hello all,
When I was setting up my mac, I inadvertently told it I had a mobile me account, one based on my old apple ID. I decided ultimately not to set up a mobile me account, and set up my mail accounts. Now, whenever I open mail, it asks for the password to smtp.me.com:username.
I deleted the mobile me account in preferences, but it doesn't matter - the **** thing pops up and asks for a password everytime I open it.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it asking for my mobileMe access for an account I don't have?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Edit your server list and remove the macmail server.

  • HT201365 How can I get rid of the new download ?

The new update is a disaster for me . How do I get rid of it ? The graphics have changed the quality of the colours so much that my colour blind partner cannot use my phone if he needs to. In an emergency this could be awful. We could use the old system without any trouble. Please sort this one out quickly APPLE !

Well, to start out with, you cannot downgrade. It is not supported by Apple. Next, if you want Apple to hear what you have to say, since they are not here, we are all users like you, go to the feedback page at www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

  • Can I get rid of the 10MB download limit for 3G?

Whenever I try to download a file arger than 10 MB on my iPhone3GS, it tells me that Files Larger than 10 MB should be downloded via Wifi. How do I get around this, so that my files will download from my 3G service provider (just like the smaller files do)?

How do I get around this
By doing as it says and downloading large files via WiFi.
If your network operator doesn't allow > 10MB downloads over the mobile network, there's no way to get around it.
It has been reported that some network operators have recently increased the limit to 20mb:

  • After a reload of Windows, when 1 go to Firefox (3.6 or 4 beta) I get a 13th birthday invitation porporting to come from Firefox/Mozilla- not true and I can't get rid- tried a new download-same thing - HELP

That's it. I click on the Firefox icon in the start menu and I get this spurious site popping up with a 13th birthday celebration offering prizes. The rigmarole to register for a prize is unbeleivable and it soon becomes apparent thet tis is nothing to do with Mozilla. I lost a lot of infoo and programs when Windows (XP Professional 32bit) crashed, including my Firefox installation. As soon as I downloaded and re-installed Firefox the short cut takes me straight to the unwanted rubbish!

    Sounds like Malware.

  • How do I get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar which won't go away even after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox?

Can't get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar that seems to be just hanging and won't go away. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the bar is still there after 2 days. I updated something (can't remember what!) on I.E., and it had the same blue bar, but it had a box I could x out of so it went away on I.E. I don't know why the blue bar is there on Firefox, as I did the update while on I.E.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated an application while on Internet Explorer.

    Annette,
#In the menu bar, at the top of the Firefox window, Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.
    # Locate ''each ''of the following extensions by name and click the disable button
#Restart Firefox as prompted and see if the undesired toolbar has been removed.
#The extensions to disable are: '''Crawler Toolbar''', '''MP3 Rocket Toolbar''', '''MSN Toolbar''', '''Search Helper Extension'''
If you don't need some / all of those toolbars, consider leaving them disabled.
You can probably remove these toolbars permanently from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

  • I by accident downloaded something call geniel. How can I get rid of it?

I by accident downloaded something call geniel. How can I get rid of it?

You installed the "Genieo" malware. The product is a fraud, and the developer knowingly distributes an uninstaller that doesn't work. I suggest the procedure below to disable Genieo. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the malware (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder should open with an item named "GenieoExtra.framework" selected. Move that item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password.
Move each of these items to the Trash in the same way:
    /Applications/Genieo.app
    /Applications/Reset Search.app
    /Applications/Uninstall Genieo.app
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libgenkitsa.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib
    ~/Library/Application Support/com.genieoinnovation.Installer
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.download.plist
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those listed above, move them as well. Some of these items will be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
Restart and empty the Trash. Don't try to empty the Trash until you have restarted.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including ones called "Genieo" or "Omnibar," and any that have the word "Spigot" or "InstallMac" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Your web browser(s) should now be working, and you should be able to reset the home page and search engine. If not, stop here and post your results.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install this trojan. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If youever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
Finally, be forewarned that when Genieo is mentioned on this site, the attacker sometimes shows up under the name "Genieo support." He will tell you to run a fake "uninstaller." As he intends, the uninstaller does not completely remove the malware, and is in fact malware itself.

  • I recently downloaded new Firefox; an option was a new top of the page skin. I don't like ; can't get rid of it. what to do?

After downloading newest firefox an option showed up: do you want one on these new skins to top your opening page? I opted for one of them and now can't get rid of it. I prefer the old . What's there now looks like a background for several toolbars. Contrast is bad.

You can set Firefox back to using the default theme. Open the add-ons manager (in the tools menu select Add-ons), in the add-ons manager go to the Themes panel. Click on the Default theme in the list of themes then click on the "Use Theme" button.
For more details see using themes with Firefox.

  • How can I get rid of photos that were downloaded from my computer?

How can I get rid of photos that were downloaded from my computer?  I need to free up space on my iPad

Assuming that you synced the photos from iTunes - or whatever downloaded means - you must use iTunes again in order to remove the songs from the iPad. You have to uncheck the albums in the photos folder that you sync from in the Photos tab of iTunes and follow that with a sync.
