Can't get rid of "okay to disconnect" screen

Sometimes when I turn on my Ipod the screen "okay to disconnect" comes up, when It's not plugged in. Once this screen comes up I can't turn the Ipod On or off--- I basically have to wait for it to die and then charge it. What could be the problem? How do I get rid of this screen without the waiting?
any suggestions?

How do you do that? The screen is basically frozen except it does allow me to change it from hold/not hold. And when I plug it into my commuter it keeps the same screen.

    can't get rid of podcast capture screen?

    When I open the download with the "Get Info"..it is described as a Podcast Capture Document...which is NOT how it was downloaded. It was downloaded as a PDF file. When I try to open the download in the "Open With" option I can not use any application except i photo, mail, textedit, i tunes and utilities...none of these options will open the download...which as I said was a PDF file when I originally downloaded it (it was a magazine). It appears that the download has been converted into a Podcast Capture Document....and I want that to stop..
    Any ideas how to keep this happening to future downloads??? If I can figure out how to stop this conversion (from PDF to Podcast) I'll be happy, because I can just down load the magazine again.
    Thanks..

  • Can't get rid of "Do Not Disconnect" message

    I don't have a 5th generation, but this was the only forum I could find to post. My iPod is two years old, but it's never given me a problem until now. Everytime I connect it to my computer, all I get is the Do Not Disconnect message. I've tried ejecting it, and plugging it back in. It reconizes my iPod because it offers me updates. But, I can't get it to update.

    Do Not Disconnect error message
    This is a standard message when you connect the IPOD to the computer;
    When you’re connected you should use your computer to interface your IPOD;
    The Do Not Disconnect error message means you should not physically disconnect your IPOD until it been Ejected through ITunes or in my case by using Windows and going to My computer and right clicking on the IPOD drive and then Ejecting it.
    The sign Do Not Disconnect error message is normal.
    Go back and read your installation material.
    Hope this will help you to understand!!!

  • How can i get rid of condensation behind the screen?

    Hi, my iPod works fine, but after leaving it in my bag during footy training outside and it then raining, it has condesation marks all over the screen. The functionality of the iPod is fine but it is very irratating having these marks over the screen. They are not strong enough to make reading the iPod hard but obviously I'd like to get rid of them.
    I understand as it is a matter involving water my warranty won't cover it?
    Is there anything else I can do? How hard is it to take it apart?

    There are some liquids that you can buy in the shops which makes you clean those marks from your iPod. You can find them in the Apple Stores and most of the computer shops.

  • Can anything get rid of scratches on iPod screen

    Hi there
    As there anything on the market that can polish scratches out of the colour iPod screen?
    I thought of jeweller's rouge. Any ideas?

    Depends on how big the scratches are. If you are talking about just the little tiny scratches you can try a commercial plastic poish and cleaner. These have mild abrasives followed by something that actually temporarily fills the scratches with something with a refractive index similar to the plastic, making them much less visible. In the US, Meguire's has a plastic cleaner and a plastic polish that can accomplish this.
    If you are talking about a big scratch (like the piece of chicken wire that scratched mine... don't ask) you will have to sand the scratch out with a more aggressive abrasive, then follow with successively smaller grits until you get back to the gloss of the original screen. There are modeller's sandpapers available in grits like 1200 or 2400. Use them with water to keep the paper from clogging but obviously don't get water in the inner workings of the ipod. 3M also sells a line of automotive abrasive sheets down to 15 microns. They aslo sell an automotive finishing product called Finesse. It is a white paste and fairly aggressive but leaves a gloss finish after you've buffed it out. I would try the Finesse first and if your scratch is too big or deep then try the larger grits. I recommend trying this on a scrap piece of plexiglas before you do it on the iPod. Good luck.

  • Can't get rid of banner on Login Screen

    This is my personal computer, I downloaded some software from my university called KeyAccess and now I have the universities name stuck on the log in screen. So far I have uninstalled the KeyAccess program, including any Daemon files associated as well as plist. I also had JAMF software and ran this command to remove it. sudo jamf -removeFramework. I was able to rid myself of the Alertus software as well. How could I find out what is causing this banner to be stuck on my screen??

    Back up all data before proceeding.
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    If you want no text in the login window, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist LoginwindowText
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
    If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
    Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.
    If you want text, enter the command below in the same way. Replace "YourMessageHere" with whatever you want the screen to show.
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist LoginwindowText YourMessageHere

  • Desktop Manager "disconnected" and I can't get rid of the error message

    I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8530, running v5 software, my computer is Windows 7. I installed the 501_b073_multilanguage software that I downloaded from Blackberry's website. When I launch the Desktop manager I get this message: "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer." The troubleshooting posts I've seen on this forum include many tips (the ones I've tried are below). One in particular I can't do is "The desktop manager is showing "disabled."
    -Make sure that the user has gone into the desktop manager and selected options > connection settings > detect."
    ... because I can't get rid of the error message dialoge box, and I can't click on the options menu in the BB Desktop Manager.
    I have tried the following:
    uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice - 2nd uninstall was a "hard" uninstall where I deleted the registry files by hand
    moved the cable to the USB port in the back (after trying both the ports in the front) of the computer
    restarted the computer many times
    hard booted the phone by removing the battery
    plugged in, removed, and replugged in the phone.
    Also:
    The phone is installing correctly when I plug it in, but the software still doesn't seem to see it.
    In the Device Manager, the BlackBerry is showing up under Portable Devices. Double-clicking on it gives me the reassurring "This device is working properly." message.
    The Com1 port is working properly also, according to the Device Manager.
    Double-clicking on the device manager icon to get the properties shows that the Com1 port is "disconnected" -- when I try to configure it it just pops back to the disconnected state.
    If someone has an idea or something I haven't tried I'd sure appreciate it!!
    Thanks!

    Solved!

    Okay, folks, after a 3 1/2 hour phone call with a (very patient) telephone support person at Blackberry, here's what I learned.
    You can check your USB drivers this way:
    Plug in your phone into your USB drive. Assuming your Blackberry is "seen" by your computer...
    Go into the Device Manager on your computer (control panel)
    Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers item on the bottom of the list
    Right-click on BlackBerry Smartphone and choose Properties
    Click on the Driver tab
    Click on the Driver Details button
    You should see one driver. I saw two. The one the BlackBerry likes is the RimUsb one.
    So here's what NOT to do: We tossed the entire driver that was the "extra". This effectively made using my mouse and keyboard impossible, as they are USB, and sent my poor husband into the basement to find a million-year-old keyboard (and then a mouse) with the old fashioned kind of connectors (PS2). Bleh. Don't do that.
    Here's what I did that worked (not saything this will work for you -- this modifies the Registry so better do a system backup with that backup and restore if you're nervous about this sort of thing):
    From the start menu, choose run, and type regedit to get into the Registry editor.
    Follow this file path: Computer, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Class
    Click on: {36FCE60-C465-11CF-8056-4445535400000}
    If there's an item on the right called "UpperFilters", delete it. (see pictures)
    Hope this helps someone.

    I often get the message that I am being disconnected from chat because i've logged on from another computer. I never use chat, and it just seems to be a problem. How can I get rid of it?

    Don't expect any wonders. If you use it heavily with multiple applications running at the same time, nobody can help you. It's physics: more usage => higher energy consumption.
    Here you can find some tips to reduce the battery consumption. My tip: close applications if you don't need them right now and reduce screen brightness.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • What is jetpack file? and can i get rid of it?
    can i get rid of it?
    could it be the reason i have problem with java windows at URL below?
    "Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 1Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 15mb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
    If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
    If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by forum regular Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.
  • Can't get rid of classes from JServer
    During the learning process, I created a World.java in directory hello, and following the examples in the online help, put this class in package hello. I found that if I did a loadjava from within the hello directory, the class is successfully loaded, but as hello.World; i.e., loadjava World.class produced an object hello.World in JServer. This class runs okay, but dropjava can't get rid of this class. I try both dropjava hello.World and dropjava World, and both of them say class not found. But the class is still there.
    If I do things the right way (i.e., loadjava hello\World.class from the directory above hello), then dropjava works properly. So finally, the question is: how can I get rid of this class which dropjava says isn't there but actually continues to exist?
    I found the answer by browsing. I am supposed to hold the Command key down and drag the item off the sidebar. It worked. I was trying to right click the item and remove it that way which didn't work.
  • Need help with volume I can't get rid of and terminal
    I own a external HD named "elements". One day a second volume appeared named "elements". Every time I tried to save files to my external HD they were written on this mysterious volume. The volume isn't showed on my desktop - only when I try to save something with Opera (browser) or in the terminal I can see it.
    I renamed my external HD so I can write files to it. So far so good.
    But how can I get rid of this volume? The finder does not show it. Spotlight does noch find it. Only in the terminal I can see this volume and I can see the files in it.
    the terminal command "diskutil eject /volumes/elements" or "diskutil unmount force /volumes/elements" did not help.
    what can I do?
    It sounds like a "false clone" was created on your internal HD, which can happen if the target volume of a backup program becomes unavailable during the copy process.
    Try this:
    First eject and disconnect all external drives, then:
    Finder>Go menu> Go to Folder
    enter /Volumes and click Go
    Don't touch the alias to your internal HD volume, or any other alias.
    If you see "elements," and it is NOT an alias, trash it and empty the trash.
