Can't get rid of orphaned podcasts

In FR I have some orphaned podcasts showing in the Movies section.
These are podcasts I am no longer subscribed to, but the metadata for certain episodes remains in iTunes. The only way I could find these episodes was to create a smart playlist with 'kind' as movie. The eps in question show up in the list as disconnected from the source files which don't exist anymore.
Trouble is I can't then delete those eps from the smart playlist, and no matter which section of the library I search in, they never show up except in this smart playlist.

Yeah same here. They show up in the smart playlist... and this way I found a solution. Well it's rather a cumbersome workaround.
- Create a smartlist, with "kind" "movie".
Now do this for each orphaned file:
- Select an orphaned movie (only one at a time), hit Apple + I
- Now iTunes will tell you, that it can't find the movie, choose to find it on your own.
- Now choose some random video (it's best to prepare some copies of random videos on your desktop).
- Now access the information on the file hitting Apple + I again.
- On the video tab, change from 'movie' to 'music video'
- Now you can access the file and delete it. It will no longer show up in front-row.
A really cumbersome way of getting rid of those... but I'm happy they're gone. I hope you don't have to many orphaned files.

Can't get rid of a Podcast!

Every time I sync my iTouch, in addition to the the podcasts I want, I get a single episode of an old podcast that I've deleted and doesn't show up in iTunes on my computer. Does anyone know how I might get rid of this pesky podcast for good. I end of deleting it from my iTouch after every sync.

Can't get rid of old podcasts on ipod touch

I use my ipod touch mainly for the many podcasts I subscribe to. On the itunes settings for podcasts it's set for keep only most recent episode. I've been creating smart playlists (perhaps irrelevant) to listen to the podcasts because before when just listening to them as podcasts they wouldn't automatically play the next one - big annoyance when driving. I delete the old playlists on both the ipod touch and itunes when I've listened to them all.
Problem: old episodes are still on the ipod taking up space - which I'm now out of. When a podcast is playing there's an square symbol in the top right corner of the screen which when touched goes to older episodes which I no longer want.
Please tell be how to prevent this. Many Thanks.

I think I solved it unless someone knows a better way (likely). I went from manually manage to auto sync. That drastically increased my free space. Apparently that made the "keep only newest episode" command go from itunes to the ipod.
Once my space was freed up I went back to manually manage so I could use smart playlists again.

When I open the download with the "Get Info"..it is described as a Podcast Capture Document...which is NOT how it was downloaded. It was downloaded as a PDF file. When I try to open the download in the "Open With" option I can not use any application except i photo, mail, textedit, i tunes and utilities...none of these options will open the download...which as I said was a PDF file when I originally downloaded it (it was a magazine). It appears that the download has been converted into a Podcast Capture Document....and I want that to stop..
Any ideas how to keep this happening to future downloads??? If I can figure out how to stop this conversion (from PDF to Podcast) I'll be happy, because I can just down load the magazine again.

Podcast Authors appear in "Artists" on my Ipod - How can I get rid of that?

I use iTunes to subscribe to podcasts. After synchronizing, the podcasts appear on my Ipod in my "Podcasts"-folder as they should. But the Authors also appear in the "Artists"-folder, which I find very confusing.
How can I get rid of that?

How can I get rid of a repeating cycle?

I'm new to grageband and am learning mostly by trial and error. I inadvertantly added a loop of some kind at the end of my podcast, and I can't get rid of it. I deleted the part of the track that was looping, but that yellow bar on the timeline is still there, and I can't seem to play any part of the track. When I try, it jumps to the repeating part. It's driving me batty.

What is a good software (free preferably) to use in order to get rid of 'orphaned' files I seem to have migrated over from my old iMac? For example, I have Virtual PC, Print Explosion, Otto game, etc. in there as well as many other orphaned files/folders like this that I won't be using on my Macbook Pro. Is there a software that will detect these so I can SAFELY get rid of all these unnecessary files? Please advise.

Whenever I make a track there is like a minute of track left that I can't get rid of.

I am making a track for a podcast, and whenever I export there is like a minute or little less of track that I can't get rid of. I even used fade out, and it still exports it the same length.
Is there a way to make the track end on a certain measure?

Can't get rid of a TX - message keeps appearing and being processed by OSB

I have some sort of a poison message or TX I can't flush. Every 10 seconds I get a log message like the second one below, and the number of pending messages in multiple places and OSB proxy service messages processed keep climbing - all without producing any new messages on my part. I've tried deleting the default server store on the OSB managed server and the filestore for the JMS server. No luck.
When this first started happening, the error messages looked like the first one below. Something I did caused the change, I assume. However, it's the same TX ID throughout.
So, first, how can I get rid of this thing? It's driving me nuts and keeping me from closing out a POC.
Second, why is it happening? I have one suspicion - could it be because that somehow we configured mutiple domains with the same name for a distributed application? It's not my normal practice but it happened. These domains don't communicate directly, but there are domains that need to communicate with both. So I'm guessing the name ambiguity may be hurting us. Just a guess, though.
In this case, the sgosb domain's proxy service (this domain name is unique) is receiving messages from a queue resident in the pega_domain in Singapore and another proxy service is putting a message to another queue in the pega_domain in the UK. This is not in a single TX; the first proxy service forwards the message to a queue in the sgosb_domain, the second proxy service gets that message and puts it into the other pega_domain. It's an XA TX for each proxy service.
Just to make it more fun, the sgosb_domain has another proxy service reading from a different queue and forwarding it to a queue in the third pega_domain in the US.

Yup, that covers it - I had also just seen this in the docs after looking at atheek1's earlier response (thanks to him/her as well). It's covered almost as clearly there as you state it here (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/jta/trxcon.html).
While the ESB domains meet all of those requirements (except for cross-domain security configuration), each of the other two sets of domains (3 in each set) do not meet the naming uniqueness criteria for domain and server names; they do for JMS server names. I saw the store names in the TX identifier string as included resource, and assumed they might play a part - that's why I changed them. As you say, an unnecessary change. Oh well - it was an easy one.
My normal practice has been for unique names in the past, due to problems I had years ago with cross-domain JMS traffic in an earlier WLS version. I guess it's the wrong time to have forgotten that lesson.
Does anyone know of a quick way of changing a domain name quickly without rebuilding the domain? In the past WLST resulted in incomplete copies for me, is that still a problem? Server names are easy, just some global search-and-replace in the config.xml file (and in the management scripts, too)

I'm still not clear about what you mean about unlocking your phone. Normally, "unlocking" means entering the password if the phone is locked, which you should be able to do from the phone itself. If you want more help with this, you really need to take the time to furnish all the relevant details.

When you do that & click on the iPhone in the list, then click on the "Apps" tab at the top, do you see the apps you can't update listed there? If you click on the "Store" menu item does it show near the bottom that you are logged in with your own Apple ID?
As wjosten said, it sounds like one way or another, the apps you cannot update were obtained using your friend's Apple ID. You need to delete them from your phone & try buying them again. If they were in fact paid for with your own Apple ID you won't have to pay again; otherwise you will.
