Can't get rid of "waiting" app

I've had this waiting app for the whole day now and its really getting annoying. I was downloading the app but then the app store says it can't get it, so it went into waiting mode. I've tried rebooting the ipod touch, didn't work. I tryed resyncing it and it still didn't work. I'm out of ideas.

All 3rd party apps purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store should be in your iTunes library on your computer. After downloading/installing an app with your iPhone, the app should be transferred to your iTunes library on your computer the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
Your options to get rid of the non-completed download of this app from your iPhone is by downloading the app with iTunes on your computer followed by installing the app on your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, or restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only. With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

Are you SURE you need to reinstall? Often people believe this but it rarely solves anything. Does a message say you must?

  • Can't get rid of an app's icon from the menu bar (the app is already deleted)

i deleted an app the old fashion way (1st drag it to the trash and 2nd empty trash). That App was Logmein. The problem is that now i have logmein's icon at my desktop's menu bar and can't get rid of it. Please help

You didn't delete all the application, of course.  (There was an uninstaller, but I guess it's gone now.)  You could try a search with command F for all Logmein stuff, make sure to include system files in your search.  Maybe have a look in /Library/Application Support .

  • Can't get rid of an app

    Hi everyone.
I was downloading a huge game over a wireless connection, and it was doing absolutely fine. I had to pause it though because I was in a hurry. When I come back thoug, the download has started from the beginning and can never complete, even though the connection is fast enough! I did the same in a public hot-spot, but still no result. And the worse thing is, I can't use Tunes store to get the app because all of my current ones will be deleted - even though I checked manual transfer of media on my computer, but now it's asking me to sync. Is there any way I can get rid of that greyed-out app that won't install? Because seriously, my connection does not take 2 hours to download 180 MB. The phone is the iPhone 3G with firmware 3.1.2.

  • Can't get rid of 'ghost' app.

I had a free App for my iPhone, but it seems to have been removed from the AppStore. No problem, I didn't use it anyway, but every time there are updates available for some of the other apps, this one is in the list and because it cannot update, the whole update process stops so I have to update each app individually, EVERY time. From the update list I cannot delete this app and frustratingly, it is NOT listed in the normal list of apps, so it's stuck there, I don't want it, just need to get rid of it entirely, but how can I do this?
The App itself doesn't exist in the Applications folder, but iTunes somehow still obviously thinks it has it somewhere. Where does iTunes keep its list of Apps? If I could find the pref/plist I could simply edit it out, but where is this info?
Anyone know, or any other way to get rid of this 'ghost' App?

No, not there either, sort of.
I've now remembered that it used to be called a different name and it WAS still there under that old name. I had forgotten this change of name and so didn't see it there, confused by the fact that it always tried to update with the new name.
So I just found it there in its old name and deleted it. I now suspect that it will not try to update the next time there are other updates, but I won't know for sure till then.
Of course if I only had a couple of Apps it would have been easy to see:-)

  • Can't get rid of unkown app

Looked into login items under preferences and saw "Mac_SwapperDemon" in the startup items, which I don't remember installing or know how it got there, so I duly removed it by checking the tick box and clicking on the minus sign, rebooted and I thought be the end of that. Until i looked into Activity Monitor and lo and behold it was still there. Looked under Spotlight and it doesn't yield any searches to it's location. The last thing I installed was software for my Vodafone 3G card. Any help or ideas to remove this app or what it is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The last thing I installed was software for my Vodafone 3G card.
If it's a mobile broadband card then that is where the Mac_SwapperDemon came from.
Get rid of Vodaone & you'll rid yourself of the Mac_SwapperDemon.

  • Can't get rid of stalled apps

I downloaded an Ipad app accidentally on my iphone.  It has just sat there, endlessly either 'waiting' or 'downloading' for months.  The problem is that now every app I try and download or update that is over 20mb does the same thing   I've tried a hard reset, a back up and restore - nothing works.  Any ideas?  I'd rather not have to start from scratch....

Thanks but I repeatedly did exactly that, exploring all possible taps, swipes around the screen & the speedo app remained fully functional inthe middle with the App Store elusively greyed out behind.  Went in & out of the screen, opening other apps then returning to the App Store icon same result.  Finally shut down my ipad & just opened it this morning & now no problem.  I'd really like to know how/why this happened & how I can also delete an app that does this.

  • Just got the iPhone6 and did the iCloud setup from a previous backup of my old iPhone5.  iPhone6 is now continuously trying to download the renweb app.  When I try to delete the renweb app, it will not delete.  How can I get rid of the app??

How can I delete the app off my phone without going through the entire setup of the new phone again?  App will not delete the normal way.  I hit delete and it just stays on the phone and tries to download over and over.

If it has a cloud icon it means its no longer on your device.  Tapping on the cloud will effectively reinstall the App from scratch to your device.
There is no way to remove it from the cloud because its not yours to remove from there. Its the general App repository, you are just given access to it to download content you've already purchased.

  • Can't get rid of Speedo App appearing when pressing APPs info?

When I tap the APPs icon for app info, the recently downloaded Speedo app centres, inviting me to open it but there's no indication of how to close it/make it disappear so I can't access the APP store.  How do I make it go off screen & still access APP store?

  • Can't get rid of white app icons

Hey guys. Just today the icons on some of my apps have gone white on my iPod Touch (4th gen iOS 4.2.1). It's not the same shade of white that you get when downloading apps. I have tried rebooting my ipod and resyncing it with iTunes, but these solutions don't work. The apps run and work fine, but their icon has disappeared.
    Here's a screenshot, if that will help: http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg612/scaled.php?tn=0&server=612&filename=nw2.png&xsi ze=640&ysize=640

  • I can't open any app when I turn the computer on. Mouse has batteries and the screen freezes on 1 app (BBCiplayer) , which obviously is the cause. How can I get rid of this app?

When I turn on the iMac the screen and apps appear as always. However there is 1 app ( BBC iplayer Desktop) which seems to freeze everything. The mouse works OK but when I click on any app or on the apple logo, nothing happens. I can't even turn it off. What should I do?

Thanks very much for this answer. I'll try now but just want to check a couple of things before going ahead. I understand that I should do the following:
    - turn off at back with the power button.
    - turn on again and as soon as the start up tone sounds I press the shift ket ( the arrow key on left?).
    - release key when the GREY PROGRESS BAR appears.
    THEN follow noondaywitches instructions:
Then go to System Preferences > Accounts > login Items and remove the iPlayer launcher.
Then restart as normal from the Apple menu.
I've edited your post to clarify what you need to do.
Assuming it starts up correctly and normal service is resumed you may then want to permanently delete BBC iPlayer (there's nothing worth watching anyway )

  • Mac app store, can't get rid of an app that I did not buy and it's listed under an unknown Apple ID

Hello guys, I have a very rare issue with my Mac App Store application.
Whenever I want to make an update of a piece of software that I've bought, Angry Birds apears as if I had it, when I haven't.
The thing is, I want angry birds to desappear from my updates list taking in account that it does not belong to me.
    Beforehand very much
