Can't get Safari 3.1.2 to autofill

I've looked at Safari Preferences, checked autofill, and selected a card in the AB; checked in User Library to make sure the Permissions are set right in the AB; searched in Safari Help, but I still am missing something. Can someone please tell me how to get Safari to autofill on web forms? IE used to be great with this. Thanks.

I'm not sure if we have the same problem. Yours may be a Safari or a Keychain issue. Have you looked to see how many passwords related to MobileMe you now have in Keychain?
And do you know for sure that you can save it in MobileMe?
I also read this in Safari Help:
'Some websites don’t allow password saving. If you’re not sure, contact the website’s administrator.'
Re: Keychain info: look in:
User Folder/home icon folder/Library/Keychains/double click on login.keychain.
I'm not certain if my problem is related to Safari or the Address Book.

• How can I get Safari 5.1.2 to automatically open pdf files on web pages by using Adobe Reader?

Safari 5.1.2 always opens pdf files on web pages as a single frame and thus it will not print properly.  How can I get Safari to open all pdfs with Adobe Reader 10.1.1?

Carolyn,
Thanks for sending your suggestion on how to solve my problem.  Unfortunately, it did not work for me.  I trashed the file, quit and relaunched Safari, but the problem remained the same.  Although it did not work, I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.
Thanks.

• How can I get Safari to remember my ID and password for a site?

How can I get Safari to remember my ID and password for a site?
Specifically, I would like it to remember my 14 digit library account on:  http://polaris.plano.gov/Polaris/logon.aspx
Firefox on my old PC was able to do this no problem.  I have recently switched over to Apple.  Thanks for your help!
FYI, I am on a new Mac Mini with OS X 10.8.3 and Safari 6.0.4.

Some websites request the web browser to NOT autofill the username, password.  It is possible the library site is doing that. Your previous firefox on the PC may have been sufficiently old to not be able to handle such a request.  There are password managers you can get to over-ride such things (search Safari extensions).

Unplug your iBook from the AC power, shut it down and take the main battery out for about fifteen minutes. Then you can put the battery back in, plug the power back in and restart. This should reset the USB and FireWire ports.
If that doesn't help, you could reset the Power Management Unit. Follow the instructions in Knowledge Base Article #14449 for resetting your PMU.
You probably should also startup from your Mac OS X install disk and run the Disk Utility to "repair disk" on your hard drive. This will determine if you've got some kind of file directory/software problems with the files on your hard drive.
I'm not much at decoding kernel panic logs, but this line jumps out:
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):

Did you have a DVD movie in the drive at the time? DVD movie disks are UDF format, but not much else is.

• Where can I get Safari for Mac OS X 10.4.11?

Hello,
Can anybody tell me where can I get Safari for Mac OS X 10.4.11?
I looked in the Apple page but without any success... And other websites only have Tiger or Leopard version.
Thank you in advance,
Sandra Costa

Welcome Costrasandra!
Scroll to the very top of this page. See where it says 'Downloads' Click it. It will take you to Apples download page and right there on front is the download and info on Safari's latest version 3.1.2.
actually... here: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
But I don't understand what you mean, MacOSX 10.4.11 IS Tiger.

• I can not get safari to load anything.

I can not get safari to load. Have already cleared the cache (three different ways) and reset safari. I'm not running off a router and when I look at my connection in 'network' it says my connection is fine. I don't know what else to do.

What exactly happens when you try to load a page? How are you loading this site?

• How can I get Safari to keep the reading list pane open all the time?

I am really enjoying the Reading List pane in Safari. How can I get Safari to make it default that the reading pane is always open on every tab or window I open? I'm running Lion 10.7.3.
Thanks.

Hi Necris Rex,
If you are having trouble keeping the leading zeros even after first formatting the cells as text and then importing the csv values (perhaps you are importing the csv via File > Open into a new document) then you can restore the leading zeros without much trouble:
Insert a new column next to the column where the leading zeros have not imported as you want. Here I assume the original values are in column B and your new column is C.
Put this formula in column C:  =RIGHT("00000000"&A,6) , and fill down the column.
Select column C, command-c to copy, and, with the column still selected, Edit > Paste and Match Styles.
Delete the original column that has the missing leading zeros.
Replace the 6 in the formula with the number of digits you need, so the formula knows how many zeros to "pad."
The above assumes you actually need the leading zeros back.  If you just want to display things nicely in your Numbers table, then formatting as Numeral System and setting Places to 6 (or whatever) is quick and easy, no formulas required.

• Can't get safari to open with lion.  Any ideas?

Hi,  Have been struggling to with lion and safari.  Feel like I'm on a safari.  Can't get safari to open. When it does, crashes immediately.  Any ideas?

Nasty.  I have some ideas:
Can you open Safari in a different user account? (that will help to determine if it is a corrupt install or something systemwide).
Do you have any 3rd party add-ons for Safari?  Try disabling them.

• Can't get or send emails.  Network connection is correct.  Can't get Safari to work.  Home PC is good to go...Any suggestions?

I hate this IPAD!  I can't get emails or send them.  I have deleted the account and put it back in - didn't work.  I can't use Safari, because it says it's not connected to the internet.  I have plugged and unplugged the PC and it is working fine - emails in and out and internet up and running.  This has happened before and I was successful in getting back up and running.  any suggestions

You cannot send or receive emails or visit web pages in Safari because your iPad is not connected to the Internet.  They are related problems.  From your description of plugging and unplugging your PC, I assume your PC is connected to your router by wire, not by wireless.  So that is not going to be a good test of your wireless router, though it is a good test to see that the router is connecting to the Internet. I am, of course, assuming you have a wireless router.  The problem could be the wireless setting in your iPad or could be the router itself.
On your iPad, go to Settings.
Is Wi Fi on? If not, turn it on and maybe that's all it needed.  Also make sure Airplane Mode is off.
If Wi Fi was already on, click on Wi Fi and see if your router shows up on the list.
Post back here to tell us how it is going.

• How Can I Get Safari Back to it's Original State?

I recently noticed Safari taking up an amazing amount of memory. If I opened 5-10 tabs activity monitor would show that all memory was used, and safari would slow to a crawl with beach balls left and right. I thought Safari was simply a memory hog. But the other day I decided to create another user account and use Safari in the same way I use it on my original account.
On the new account I opened 5, 10, 25 tabs and I still had plenty of memory left over. So I'm guessing something I did with Safari, an added extension or something, is causing the memory link. I thought about simply switching to the new user account, but that would take a lot of work. Instead, I'd like to 'fix' Safari in my main user account. I know I can uninstall all extensions, but what else can I do to get Safari as close as I can to it's original state, and hopefully fix the memory issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

But the other day I decided to create another user account and use Safari in the same way I use it on my original account.
When the same problem exists in multiple user accounts, the startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility  (Applications/Utilities) Select your startup disk in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions here.

• How can I get Safari 7 to open to my homepage rather than Top Sites?

Not sure why I would want to open to Top Sites all the time...  I'd like my homepage back but I can't figure out how to get Safari 7 to open to my homepage now.

Visit the Apple site you want to be set as Homepage.
Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:
Apple site should show up and highlighted.
Click the "Set to Current Page" button at the bottom.
Select "New windows open with "Homepage" and
                "New tabs open with "Homepage".
Launch Safari, if the Homepage is not opening by default, hold shift key down and launch Safari.

• I have a Powerbook GR at OS 10.4.11. I can't get Safari to open!

I've tried downloading different versions with no luck. How can I get it to download and function? What version do I need and how do I get rid of the old one?
Thanks!

Only Safari 4.1.3 will work with Tiger 10.4.11:
Safari 4.1.3 for Tiger can be downloaded here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1069
If your Safari won't open, one or more of the following procedures should fix it:
1.  Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
history.plist
lastsession.plist
(Safari may not load properly If these two files are corrupted.)
and also go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.Safari.plist
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just  webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
3. Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
(Again, faults in stored cookies may interfere with Safari's launch.)
4. Check whether any of your third-party internet plug-ins may be interfering with the launch of Safari by carefully moving them to the desktop (do NOT delete them at this stage). You can find these in two places:
Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder, and Global plug-ins are located in the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder.
Also look in Library/Input Managers where other third party add-ons may lurk. If you find  a SIMBL folder, please note that some SIMBLE.bundles may require updating or possibly removal. More information on third party add-ons here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3230?viewlocale=en_US
Restart Safari and place them back in the correct folders, one at a time, closing and re-opening Safari each time. If you discover that one of them was causing the problem with launching Safari, trash it and download and install a fresh copy.
Note also that Safari does not accept any third party tool bars not supplied as part of authorised extension. If you have installed any of these, delete them, or post back for instructions on how to do so.
