Can't get skype to work in other mac system accounts

we have created multiple accounts on our imac and for some reason skype will only work on mine. Any ideas how to get it to work in other people's accounts? We all have basically the same setup. skype error message is about network access but I'm on the internet in these accounts without a problem. anyone have any ideas?  thank you!

Compare the Services in the Sharing Pref Panes of the users, Ports 80 & 443 at least are needed for Skype.
Turning on Personal Web Sharing for those Users should open those ports.

I can down load and install fine but when I go to open it I get this error message
ERROR! cannot write to Info.plist, there are permission problems, or you are on a read-only volume.
This cannot run from within a read-only dmg file.
But when I go to "get info" the program says i have "read and write" permission?
I'm lost and new to Mac, can someone help me please?

The Cisco VPN client is notoriously lousy. Use the built-in Cisco client if at all possible.

Have you tried everything in the document you came from

The only other reaon I can think o,f that may be preventing the iCloud tabs from showing on your Mac may be, that you enabled "Private Browsing". Is that turned on in the Safari menu?

  • I have a xD-PictureCard that I want to load pictures onto, from my iPhotos.  The reader is a FinePix can I get it to work on the Mac.  when I try it wont install the software.  Is there any way i can load pics onto the SD card.

I have a xD-PictureCard (SD Card) that works in a picture frame.  I have used it in the past on a Windows computer, now having an apple I want to change the pics and cannot.  When I reload the discs for Mac they won't install.  Is there anything I can do to put the pics on the SD card, I don't want to throw away the picture frame it cost a lot of money.

This should be perfectly possible and without loading any software at all.
Get a Card Reader for the XD card, and plug it into the Mac. It will then appear on the desktop. Drg the files to the Card. Make sure you keep the folder structure used on the Card - don't change that.

  • Can't get iCloud to work on my Mac

I am trying to get iCloud on my Mac and iPhone so I can sync documents, photos, etc.  But I can't seem to get iCloud on my Mac to work.  Example: there's no option to save in iCloud on Pages.  I have OS 10.7.5, and Pages 4.3; my wife has OS 10.8.5 and Pages 4.3, but she CAN save things to iCloud.  Any ideas?

For sharing documents and sharing photos via My Photo Stream with your Mac you'll need 10.7.5 at a minimum which you apparently have. So you should be able to do the same as your wife.
    Documents in the Cloud
    iOS 5
iWork for iOS (Pages 1.5, Numbers 1.5, Keynote 1.5)
    OS X v10.7.5
    iWork ’09 (Pages 4.2, Numbers 2.2, Keynote 5.2)
    My Photo Stream
    iOS 5.1
    OS X v10.7.5
    iPhoto ’11 (9.2.2)
    or Aperture 3.2.3
For more information on what system you need to be running in order to utilize the various iCloud features see this Apple document: System requirements for iCloud.
Have you tried logging out of iCloud and then back in in the System preferences?  However, your best bet would be to do as Csound1 suggested, upgrade to 10.8.5, so you have parity with your wife's Mac.

  • Can't get WEP to work with both mac and windows machines.

Currently my airport express is setup with no security. When I try to setup using WEP it works great for my powerbook but the windows machines constantly get disconnected.
Any ideas? Should I use other types of wireless security (WPA etc...)? If so, can an xp machine be configured for that type?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If you can use WPA use WPA, it will depend on your PC
wireless adapter and if you are running Windows XP
    SP2.
--the window PC is running xp sp 2 but the adapter does not appear to support WPA (dell true mobile 1300 internal adapter)
from your response below not clear what is the best path to take given WEP is the only option.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual
standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit
WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors
use certain algorithms to convert simple
alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX
keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable
WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different
algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a
ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently
on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password
will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if
you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is
    required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key
    must be used regardless.

  • Have a google aps account. I can not get it to work in my mac mail anymore

Everything was working fine with my google aps account. I have an email that's connected to my website. It's no longer working in mac mail now.

Actually your suggestion is for Enabling the Accessibility Option to use the Keyboard for Mouse functions. Not to enable the use of a USB Mouse.
Please do some research on the topic before posting misinformation.
    Thanks.

Go to System Preferences/Accessibility/Mouse and Trackpad, and tap on the Enable Mouse Keys. After you tap on the box, your MBP will give your mouse priority in pointing and clicking on your computer; hoever, this also deactivates your Touch Pad - so you can use only one at a time.
I'm sure this answers your question, but I'm wondering why you choose a mouse over a touch pad?

  • My bank uses FinanceWorks.  I can't get it to work on my MAC which uses 10.10.2 Yosemite

I just upgraded my iMac to yosemite 10.10.2.  Now the app my bank uses, FinanceWorks, doesn't work.  Anyone know how to fix this?  Thank you!

I work for Digital Insight, the digital banking vendor that your bank works with to provide you with access to FinanceWorks.  Just to be sure, are you using Safari as your web browser when trying to access FinanceWorks? If so, the upgrade to Yosemite likely changed your browser settings in Safari, specifically for cookie handling.  The easiest work around is to go to the “Manage Money” tab in your Online Banking,  control-click one of the FinanceWorks options (Account Overview or Trends), and choose to open in a new tab.  From then on (until you clear your browser history or cookies), FinanceWorks should work normally within the tab.
Also of note, Digital Insight was divested by Intuit in 2013 and is now owned by NCR.

after installing maverick i get this message when i try to open itunes:Unmark the 32bits modus-but i have unmarked it several times! The new iTunes requires 64bits modus so what shall i do?

I upgraded my 2007 iMac (20") to Maverick. Should never have done this! Lost mail, lost my mail archive, lost numerous programs/applications, lost all my installed hardware, spend 4 days on getting it running again with the (supreme) help of Apple Care. However it should not have happened at all!
iMac Computers with less than 4Gb of internal memory (as explained by Apple Care), or less than (estimated) 150Gb of free disc-space should not upgrade! Simple as that and the App Store should warn you about that and not simply let you pick up your free copy of Maverick!
