Can't get some videos into Movies folder

I have a bunch of mp4 and mpeg video clips that will not import into my Movie file in iTunes. Most are clips from the internet and some are podcast videos. Is there a conversion I need to do to see them in the Movie file (ie in the iTunes library on the left of the window).

I have a few that were already there, but I have some new shows I have converted to Mp4 and I can't get them to import into iTunes. Any idea why they won't import?

I'm having the same problem. I've got 2 test videos: 1 from handbrake using the iPhone settings and the other is a quick movie recorded in iMovie and exported to iPod.
When I try to drag them into iTunes the cursor changed to the green "+" but nothing happens. I've also tried going through File>Add to Library... with similar the same lack of result.
iTunes is 7.4.2 freshly re-installed.

I have read alot of these things and none have helped me. I got some videos from Morpheus.com and they show up in itunes, but every time I update it gives me an error message and dosen't send the vids through. Some one give me a hand.

Have they even been converted to a format playable on the IPOD?

I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

I also want the videos I'm transfering to be visible in the "Video" app on my iPhone (I dont have an iPad, Yet. )
Right now, in order to see my videos I have to share iPhoto albums/etc.. from within iTunes. this mixes them up within the "Photo" app. Don't get me wrong, that is great, at least I can see them there in an album I made for "Home Movies". but I would like to know if there is a way to make them visible to the "Video" app which has catagories like "Podcast" & "Music Videos".

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems.

Ok, I'll give it a try.
Presuming you already have a Dropbox account, and you have the app on your pad.
Open the app, navigate to public folder. Touch the upload icon at the bottom. It will show you everything you have already uploaded. To upload a new picture, then touch the plus sign at the top right. You can create one or more subfolders to organize it however you want.
Hit the plus sign again if needed, and the photo listing will show up. Find the photos you want and mark them by touching them. Then touch the blue word upload in the upper right.
( the directions assume the pad is in the landscape mode.)
That's really all there is to it. As I typed this I opened and uploaded a couple of pics to get the steps right.

There are 12,733 songs, a few dozen of which are not going to be in the Apple music library because they are unique to my collection. Also, some titled "Track XX" and no artist. I assume these would either not upload or else just be uploaded. But, after an overnight of step 2, the iTunes match program was still on song number 7384 or 12733 (it was on that number for over 12 hours). Looking in the music library, activating the iCloud icon and status fields, there were hundreds of songs with the status "waiting."

Well it could still be a software problem if you installed a third party program after the OS X wipe and install, because by booting into Safe Mode it disables certain functions of OS X and hardware. For some reason I can't get some songs off my old ipod. recently I lost all my songs on my new ipod so I went to my old ipod followed the steps of extracting files from ipod to itunes and come to find out that some songs didn't go into itunes. The files I want were downloaded using imesh and they are mp3 format. For some reason when I go into my computer and open my ipod's music folder the songs are not there yet they have to be because I can see and play them on itunes when I connect the old ipod.But I can see one of the files in a folder except that one file is really the entire album. It's about 13 songs and I can't seem to seperate them. So is there anyway to directly transfer all files from the ipod to itunes instead of doing the copy folder steps as described in apple's "transferring music guide"? Also I tried consilidating library and that didn't work either.

If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

You can't. FCE doesn't support DVCPRO HD. You'd have to convert it to the Apple Intermedia Codec in some other sofware. FCE also probably doesn't support the frame resolution the P2 media is using.
