Can't get through in BootCamp installation, stops before it begins.

I'm trying to use Boot Camp assistant on my new IMac 5k.
I have Windows 8.1 Pro on a usb stick, ISO file. I get to the first three questions about creating an installation CD for windows which is checked, the second one is checked and in grey and the third is "install windows 7 or later". All checked.
Next questions is about where to find the ISO file, no problems and then I hit forward. I get a question about that the USB unit will be erased which is fine. After this it stops. "A bootable USB drive could not be created, An error occurred when the hard drive was formatted". I just ran down to the store for a new USB (16gb) stick since I thought it was something wrong with my external hard drive.
I have no idea what to do now? I really need windows! Does anyone of you have any clue what is wrong?

MBP freezes after 10.4.11 and I can't get through to AppleCare
This is beyond ridiculous. Since applying the 10.4.11 update, my MBP always locks up after waking from sleep. There has been no exception since updating. I kept it turned off for about 24 hours, then used it all afternoon without letting it sleep and didn't have a single freeze. Sure enough, the first time I closed the lid to let it sleep, it locked up within seconds of waking up. This was happening spradically prior to the 10.4.11 update, but now it's rendering my MBP unuseable.
Yes, I have AppleCare and I tried calling Apple twice last week. Both times, I got cut off. Both times, I could barely understand the Indian trying to help me, and one got snippy with me when I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. Neither time did I actually get to speak with a technician. One of those times I got a recorded message telling me that Apple was closed for the holiday and to call back during normal business hours. Friday wasn't a holiday (at least not in this country) and I was calling during normal business hours for THIS country, but perhaps not for India. I've never experienced any trouble getting AppleCare support via telephone in the past, even on Sundays.
I've run Apple Hardware Test and TechTool Deluxe, neither of which reports any drive problems. The nearest Apple Store is an hour's drive from here. Apparently, I have one of the Seagate drives recently found to be defective. All I want to know is whether or not I should let Apple replace the drive with one that isn't defective.
I'm at a loss here. I'm paying for AppleCare, but can't get through to a comprehensible English speaker capable of answering that very simple question. I can't let my MBP sleep because it'll lock up upon waking. I can't find any way to send feedback to Apple about the unacceptable experience trying to get through to support last week. Is no one accountable for anything these days? And to think I bought an iPhone last week too!Here is what I think may be the relevant portion of my system.log file. I've had no luck at all finding someone willing to tell me how to parse log files to troubleshoot errors. The freeze happened right about Nov 25 22:00:00. After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I've read through several posts that all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist. Any solutions or suggestions?

The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application. If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.

If the problem persists after you reboot as suggested by Ralph:
Trouble connecting usually means interference, or another WiFi on the same channel.
If you have any cordless phones, keyboards, or cameras, check what frequency they use.
From a MAC or Windows machine you can see what channel each of the available networks are using. Make sure your network is on a channel nobody else nearby is also using. -

Call Verizon's wireless tech support & explain your problem to them. They will provide "step-by-step" instructions over the phone.

TIP: If you do call & don't want to go through all those darn promps, when you initially call, just don't say anything. The automatic voice will then say, "will connect you to a service rep." -

I have moved from Comcast to Uverse, and can't get my TIme Capsule to stop blinking yellow. I know it isn't updating. Additionally, I can't get my computer to recognize the 'new' wireless network. It keeps changing back to the 'old' network.
You have two separate issues here. although both were created with the recent changes on your network.
Find out why the Time Capsule is blinking amber as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the the Time Capsule icon
Click directly on the amber dot....and another window will open to explain more about the issue...along with suggested actions that you can take to remedy the issue.
If you want your Mac to connect first to the "new" network....
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Network
Click on WiFi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
Make sure that the name of the network that you want the Mac to connect to first appears at the top of the connection order list. Drag the name to the top if it is not there now.
Click OK
Click Apply
Now your Mac will attemp to connect first to the network that you positioned at the top of the connection order list. -
Can't get through one TV show purchased on iTunes without Homeshare timing out
My Apple TV is up to date, as well as my imac. Netflix is working pretty well now but it really bugs me that I can't get through a whole TV show that I purchased on iTunes without the Homeshare timing out. If I go to watch on my computer, it works fine. This is somthing between my computer and my Apple TV which is especially maddening because it all Apple! I have spent a lot of time on this and I am not a techie. very maddening - about to throw the darn thing in the trash!
It is likely an issue with your local network.

When using wireless at home I can browse the wifi-router homepage (192.168.0.1), but the Internet application won't load internet pages.
I've tried different security settings, even totally open. Always the same at my TrendNet TEW611 BRP using default settings. At other routers internet is ok.
What's strange is that the SIP phone application gets through, so I can make phonecalls but no internet. Can anyone explain this?try to connect using WiFi connection manager like HandyWi, www.handywi.com, if that still doesn't work when it's probably something wrong with the settings on your router. Can also be that the page your are trying to load is too large for the mobile browser to process.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -

Apple help service is crap. I've been trying to contact someone for 2 days now and can't get through to anyone. My audiobooks have disappeared from my Library - I paid a lot of money for these! None of the 'contact us' buttons get me through to anyone, you get sent electronically from pillar to post and end up hitting a brick wall.What a disgusting service - they can't even design a simple way of contacting them. I thought microsoft were bad but Apple are even worse!
the thing is i never threw away the project plus i have a copy of it lol... it has something to do with me moving the folder im just sure of it. because when i checked the trash when i tried to delete that new folder, its there.... thats the only thing i deleted from the event library window. then the other projects that were useless that i threw away. should i restore those? i havent emptied my trash.
also i could never find where it saves everything... so i just did a search... (im not a very techy guy) plus im unsure how to back it up... if its a feature in the program then i havent figured it out yet...
but i think if i put the "final cut projects" folder back where i took it from it should be fine. im THINKING thats the case. the only problem is i dont know where i got it from. sounds silly i know but i found the folder from doing a search in finder.
