Can't get tracks in correct order in playlist

I imported a 9 disc compilation into iTunes. In the individual playlist for each disc, I clicked "track" to organize the tracks in correct numerical order. When I created a Smart Playlist for all 9 discs, the tracks are out of order for each album. How can I get the tracks in the correct order for each album?

OK — you hadn't mentioned shuffle in this thread, so it was worth checking.
It sounds to me like there's a problem with the data in some of your fields. One thing to try is re-entering all the data at once, to be sure everything is identical and any old data is flushed out. Assuming you want them all to have the same album title, select all nine discs and fill out the Album, Album Artist, and the "of" field in "Disc X of Y". Then select each disc individually and fill out the rest of the disc number field, and the "of" part of the track number field. Finally, check all the track numbers to make sure they're set.
If you've done all of that and you're sorting on an Album column, and they're still not sorting properly, I don't know what to tell you.

  • Can't get track listings correct in playlists

Sorry if this has been posted already. I did a search but I don't really know how to phrase my question correctly. I'm a musician who uses Logic a lot and I like to bounce my tracks down as I'm mixing them and pop them into my iPod to do some test listening. One of the projects I'm working on now involves a very specific track order. When I create a playlist in iTunes I set the tracks up fine...everything is the same, artist, album name, track number etc...But when I open my iPod after importing, the track listings are totally screwed up. I've even tried placing 1,2,3,4 etc...at the very begining of the track with the hope that that will cue the iPod to arrange them correctly. No deal. Any help?11

Make sure the ID tag info is correct.
Include the same artist and album name.
Number the tracks 1-10 of 10 (or whatever.
The tracks play in album order.
Also, makse sure you have iPod Settings -> Shuffle turned Off.

  • My photos are out of chronological order after the os 5 upgrade.   How can I get them back in order?

My photos are out of chronological order after the os 5 upgrade.   How can I get them back in order?
If its not possible, how do I go back to the old  os?

I had tried that several times with no luck.  Late last night I was finally able to get through  to the Verizon technical support who then called in Apple technical support.  It took 1 1/2 hours for them to figure it out and guide me through a fix.  So here's the deal .......... I use Yahoo mail and had left the "contacts" button in the on position.  Apparently Yahoo likes to go into your contacts and gather information and can leave it in shambles.  My advice is, go to settings, then mail, contacts, calendars.  Select any and all of your email accounts and go in and turn off their access to your information.  Leave it on for Icloud but none of the others.

  • How can I get Tracker to find a shared review PDF initiated in another domain?

I initiated a shared review for a PDF and stored it on a network server in domain X. Subseqauently, the server was moved into a different domain, call it Y.
Now, Acrobat Tracker can't find the PDF ... and reviewers can no longer  access the PDF.
How can I get Tracker to find the PDF in the new domain Y?

No, this is not possible. You need to initiate the review again. This is because the review server information is embedded inside the PDF and when you change the review server, the JavaScript embedded in PDF still refers to the old server. So Tracker is unable to locate the review PDF.
If the old review has comments by other reviewers, you can save it as an archive and initiate review on new server on this new PDF. This way all the review comments can be retained in the PDF but they will be published "on behalf of" the initiator now.
    Hope that helps.

    Hey ellenkk
The best way to get the songs in the order that you want is to make a playlist and then sync it over. Once the playlist is set, all you have to do is set to sync playlist in the music tab.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • I copied 7 cd audiobooks to I tunes, but they appear as track 1 of disc 1, track 1 of disk 2 etc. How can I arrange these tracks in correct order of each disc?

I don't have the audio CD's any longer, but the information is on I-tunes, but not just in the correct sequence. Is there any way to correct this? thank you!

You can change the Track # information for each track on those albums.  If iTunes cannot find an album in its online database of CDs, it will not have detailed information about the tracks.  This often happens with things like audiobooks on CD.
Select one of the tracks in a listing in iTunes.  Right-click on the track, and select Get Info.  On the Info window, go to the Info tab, and update the Track # information, so that it is correct.  You can update the Name of the track and other information you see there, if desired.  You can also go to the Options tab, and change the Media Type to Audiobook, if the item currently appears under Music in your iTunes library (and you want it to appear as a Book).
NOTE:  You can select multiple items at once in iTunes, and do a Get Info, if the change you are making for all the items is the same.

  • How can we get Apple to correct this issue?

I have been a supporter and user of Apple since the IIe days.  I still have a G4 on my desktop that works just fine with the software that was useful for those times.  I have worked with a laptop Mac Pro since the fall of 2007 without any real major issues.  However, I am now having all types of problems with the new Maverick OS which I installed about two months ago.  In fact, I actually went to an apple support store and actually paid significant money to have them correct the problems which they said had to do with my keyboard.  I did mention that I wasn't having the problems until I installed Maverick, but they didn't mention that many people were having any problems with that OS.  I'm so used to everything working smoothly with Macs that I didn't even suspect an OS upgrade would create such havoc.  I'm very disappointed with what is happening. It all started when I received a message that some software package would no longer be supported for my Snow Leopard, and I needed to upgrade to Maverick. Since doing so, my computer has done all kinds of goofy things.  The worst issue is on startup.  My sign in screen comes up and I can't move my cursor.  If I hook up a wireless mouse, the cursor will move and I can get into the password position, but I can't get it to take a typed password or react to anything.  I finally started taking the battery out of the laptop for 30 seconds and re-installing it and that process would seem to get results, but it seems to be getting less successful. I like some of the features of the new OS, but it is giving me so much trouble with startup that I'm very frustrated. I also noticed that my power light does not stay lit when the computer is on. The battery shows a full charge, so I don't think it is a battery issue. Has anyone else had this problem.

Given your description, at least some of the problems you're experiencing are probably due to woefully outdated software on a seven year old MBP.
It's also possible that more memory would alleviate the symptoms, since Mavericks will run in 2 GB, but 4 GB is a more realistic minimum. You can install as much a 6 GB in your MBP, but without additional information it is impossible to conclude more RAM alone is going to solve what's wrong.
If you don't know where to start consider running EtreCheck and posting its results as explained below. It will provide a quick summary of your system configuration, to preclude the need for a dozen time-consuming questions. None of what follows is intended to fix anything, but it will provide the additional information required to advance troubleshooting.
There are five separate parts to it; please consider everything and reply with your results. The prerequisite (Part 0) is labeled that way because it is more important than anything else.
    Part 0
The first task you must do is to satisfy yourself that you have adequate, reliable backups, since what you describe may presage an impending disk failure. If you value the data on your Mac, you should have backups even if everything is working normally.
    Part 1
Boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
When it finishes restart your Mac and test again for operation. If it's still not behaving as you expect it should, please post the results of EtreCheck in accordance with the next step.
    Part 2
Apple Support Communities contributor etresoft wrote a very useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem. Read about it here. It contains a link to download EtreCheck. Don't download it from anywhere else (such as may be found by following the results of an Internet search).
Copy and paste its output in a reply.
Do not be concerned about anything that says "Problem" or “failed” or anything else that may appear in red.
EtreCheck was designed to remove any personal information (such as your computer's name and serial numbers) but if you see anything that looks like an email address or any other personal information that should not be divulged to others, please delete or obscure that information when you post the reply.
When you are finished with EtreCheck, quit the program. It occupies very little space, and you can keep it or drag it to the Trash as you wish.
    Part 3
Please determine if the problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.
    Part 4
System performance problems for reasons that cannot be isolated to any other cause justify an SMC reset. Be sure to read the procedure carefully and follow all the steps exactly as written, even if they seem inapplicable or trivial.

  • Can't get albums in chronological order

I'm having an issue where I can't get the artists albums in chronological order. I have all the artist in alphabetical order but now I want their albums in year order. It looks like the albums are in alphabetical order. To give you an example...AC/DC is first...Back in Black (1980) is before High Voltage (1976). I know it probably sounds petty but it drives me crazy that its not in the correct order! lol... I did a search and couldn't find my answer thats why I'm posting. Thanks in advance.

What if an artist releases two albums in the same year.
Is there a way to force iTunes to follow true chronologic order?
iTunes only references the year of release for songs, not the month and day, so if an artist has two albums in the same year, they will be sorted alphabetically. You could change the year of one of them to force it to show up in the order you want. Not a perfect solution, but just an idea.

  • Playlist order - i can only get it in alphabetical order

when i set up itunes on my pc i can only get the playlist SONGS in alphabetical order, either descending or ascending.
is there a way that i can place my individual playlist songs in any order i want?
    thanx

In iTunes click on the playlist.
Now click on the header column at the extreme left (over the item numbers).
It should turn a darker grey colour.
Now drag your songs into any order you like.

  • Can't get video to correct size in viewer

Here's an interesting situation. I've used FCP for 3 years on an old G4. Upon using my new G5 with Final Cut Studio for the 1st time I must have mistakenly put my regular DV clips on an HD Sequence timeline and rendered it. Now when I try to put the project on a regular DV sequence and re-render it becomes a stretched image. The item properties show the original clips as 720 x 480, 29.97 fps, DV/DVCPRO - NTSC. The clips on the HD timeline are showing as 1440 x 1080. The project is finished & about 35 minutes in length so I don't want to re-edit the entire thing. How can I get the HD sequence to go back to the original size DV that it was supposed to be. Highlighting and Modify > scale to sequence on the new sequence timeline still leaves me with a stretched (non-full) screen.

    No--
In the Motion tab... right click the video in the sequence and send to viewer...
Then under the MOTION tab... twirl down the DISTORT triangle and then check the aspect ratio there... set either to 0, 33 or -33.
    Good luck,

  • Can't get track titles to appear when CD inserted for library

How do I get the ITunes library to recognize CD titles and track names from the internet?

Thanks for your response. I found the "menu" you mentioned when I clicked on one of the "tracks". When the menu opened I clicked, "Get track names" and a box opened saying that "The user is not authorized to access the internet." Very confusing.

  • Can't get Tracks in Order

This subject may have been worn out in previous posts, but I am new to iTunes and have a problem I can't figure out. I have a group of songs on my desktop in AIFF format that I want to import into iTunes to make an album. The tracks are in numerical order on my desktop and when I use File - New Playlist and drag the songs to the playlist the track numbers are correct. When I click on "Music" to reveal all my albums the new album is there. But when I double click on the new album icon to reveal the contents, the tracks are all jumbled up, apparently randomly. What do I need to do to have the tracks in the proper order on the album? Thanks.

happy to hear i could point you in the right direction
    enjoy ...
