Can't get Transport Mode to Work

Just messing around in a lab with a few routers. Trying to bring up transport mode first on an IPSEC tunnel. All seems correct, but it constantly comes up in Tunnel Mode. I can't see why?
Can anyone see anything obvious?
Enclosed are configs and a WireShark capture of the output - as you can see it's Tunnel Mode - and not Transport.
The output of "show crypto ipsec sa" demonstrates the fact that its Tunnel mode.

Thanks for the reply Rick.
The access list is a catch-all :-
access-list 100 permit ip any any
It's a strange one to grasp really.
"traffic to be protected has the same IP addresses as the IPSec peers "
My routers are peers - 192.168.1.1 & 192.168.1.2
If i ping from .1 to .2, or .2 to .1, in my mind this represented "the same IP addresses as the IPSEC peers". Other than the ping, i don't know how i can simulate peer traffic that would come up in transport mode. Do you?
Once the IPSEC link is built, and it's a tunnel link, i don't think it will ever divert away from this and create a separate transport mode link, so all traffic will ride across it.
It's not a big deal i suppose. Router to router connections don't seem to support transport mode.
I know how the packets would look like, which is the most important thing really. The headers are just in different positions.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer Rick.

My dell 2408 arrived today and I'm having exactly the same problem.I cant get it to go into clamshell mode. I lie, I got it to go into clamshell mode once. I don't know what I did. But it certainly isn't willing to go into clamshell mode again any time soon.

  • Can't get 'clamshell' mode to work with Dell 2408

I have been trying to get my Dell 2408 working in clamshell mode without any success. I have a USB keyboard, USB mouse, power adapter and monitor via DVI plugged in. I switch the display type to mirror, close the lid, wait for it to sleep, then wake it again by pressing a key on the keyboard.
The computer wakes, the external monitor flashes but at the incorrect resolution (1200 X 800 instead of 1920 X 1200) then goes back to sleep. This will repeat over and over again until I open the lid of the macbook. I can occasionally get the macbook to wake and display on the eternal monitor but this is very rare, and when it does I get some wired artifacts.
What's really puzzling is that the monitor works flawlessly in extended desktop mode, and works perfectly with other non mac computers. I took the macbook to the Genius Bar, hooked it up to the apple cinema displays and i didn't get the same problem! Grrr....
So I just don't get it, both the computer and display seemingly work fine independently from one another, work fine in extended mode, yet in clamshell mode have some fairly major issues.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Can't get clamshell mode to work

I would like to use an A1081 HD cinema display with my macbook pro and I have connected it to the HDMI port. I have attached an external keyboard and a mouse in one of the USB slots on the keyboard. I set it to mirror display, but evey time I close the lid it goes to sleep and I can't wake it up with keyboard or mouse.
    Have I forgotten anything?

Thanks for the info, but could you tell me why you think it will work and is it the only USB peripheral device that can be used for this?

  • HT201413 I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again?

I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.

    Fixed it!
    1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
    2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
    3. Connected to itunes
    4. Pressed restore and update ipod
Update successful and ipod taken out of recovery mode

  • Can't get my TC to work in Bridge mode...

I installed Time Capsule TC to my exsisting network, that has a Linksys router.  Can't get my TC to work in Bridge mode.  Suggestions?
I have the TC directly connected to the router and want to use the TC for wireless Time Machine back ups and to share other hardrives via
the network.  I also have an old airport express for airplay speakers in one room.  And an airport extreme that I thought I had set up to extend
the network wirelessly.  I have yet to find a concise and clear list of steps to make this happen.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Holly

The problem is the steps changed with the new airport utility..
I can tell you the steps on a 5.x utility. If you run Lion then download the real tool.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Go to manual setup.. internet tab.. connection sharing.. select off, bridge mode.. update the TC..
    Wasn't too hard was it.

Can anyone help me with this?

The standard arch kernel includes all the required modules, at most you need to load them explicitly listing them in MODULES in /etc/rc.conf
You need also the hw specific stuff, that is i915 and intelagp. Check lsmod and see if they are loaded. If they are not, inspect dmesg and see if udev tries to load them and fails for some reason.
I remember some cases where intelagp and i915 are not loaded by udev in the right order, if this is your case you can try to list them in the right order in MODULES.
There should be no need to recompile the kernel or to install a particular version of dri (just use the arch packages for mesa, libdrm etc; but I guess you have them already)

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

  • Can't get iCal alarm to work

I've tried everything that I've read ... but I can't get the alarm to work - Does anyone else have this problem OR solution?
    Thx in advance!

Do you have it set to go off to a certain song, or the beep? It might be that if you have it set off to go to a song, that listening to tunes might override the alarm. I'll know more in about 1 minute...
Mine works while playing music without headphones and the alarm is set to beep. Another minute or two and I'll test the alarm going off to a song while in shuffle mode.
I did just what I said...and it worked fine. It plays the little beeping tune and then switches to a song in the playlist you've selected.
I'm out of ideas on why it might not be working. All I can think of is to make sure that the alarm you set is listed before going back to the main menu.

  • I can't get my video toto work

I can't get my video to work on my iPad.... I have never used it before so today I thought it would be nice to take a video... I did look it up on line but everyone is saying I have to slide the marked video to the middle of the screen, and I have done all that but it still won't work... Thank you

Swipe up or down on the screen - anywhere on the screen - until the word Video appears in yellow type on the right. That indicates that the video mode has been selected. Then tap on the big red dot to start recording, tap the big red button when you are done recording.

  • How can I get elements 11 to work with 16 bits photos?

In the expert mode of Photoshop Elements 11, I can only work with 8 bits photos. How can I get Elements 11 to work with 16 bits photos?

No, you can still buy photoshop cs6 (perpetual license) if one doesn't want to subscribe to the cloud version (photoshop cc version 14)
Either way is expensive compared to photoshop elements.

    hi

would like to do the exercises for tw10 and tw12

    Thanks Spencer.
I downloaded it, etc. and that didn't work.
It actually seems to work the same way as before I downloaded that driver, meaning, it prints but leaves it in the "# Document Pending" status.
Since the wireless HP print server isn't working (No connectMgr.exe file) there's no connection and therefore the doc won't print.
RE: Print/Server software out of date.  The software was working for many months after originally installing it on this laptop.  Then it just stopped.  Now it can't find the .exe file and that's odd.
If I could find that file I could just save it where it needed to be and I'd be good to go.
    Thanks for the help.
Going to uninstall and reinstall again, just for fun.  I'll report back.
