Can't get update to work - error message is to input proxy address and proxy details

I have my printer printing but can't seem to get it to connect to the internet to get any s/w updates. I'm connected wirelessly and am using Windows XP. I don't think I have a fixed proxy address. What to do??

Hosting a web server with a php application which uses the mail() function in php, which requires the SMTP server to be running on the machine. But I have som problems starting it...
This message is repeated every 61 second in the SMTP log, no matter which log level I choose:

I haven't dont any manual configuration in text files, only used Server Admin. What is this about? Why can't there be a button to restore all settings for a service to default settings?
If I run the simplest possible php code to send a mail, the mail function return true, indicating it was accepted for delivery, and I can see the mail on the que. I get this in the smtp log:

I've just seen this message for the first time and it's showing on 10 devices.
What I really love about Apple Configurator is the copious amount of context driven help offered to you.

Desktop Manager "disconnected" and I can't get rid of the error message

I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8530, running v5 software, my computer is Windows 7. I installed the 501_b073_multilanguage software that I downloaded from Blackberry's website. When I launch the Desktop manager I get this message: "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer." The troubleshooting posts I've seen on this forum include many tips (the ones I've tried are below). One in particular I can't do is "The desktop manager is showing "disabled."
-Make sure that the user has gone into the desktop manager and selected options > connection settings > detect."
... because I can't get rid of the error message dialoge box, and I can't click on the options menu in the BB Desktop Manager.
I have tried the following:
uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice - 2nd uninstall was a "hard" uninstall where I deleted the registry files by hand
moved the cable to the USB port in the back (after trying both the ports in the front) of the computer
restarted the computer many times
hard booted the phone by removing the battery
plugged in, removed, and replugged in the phone.
Also:
The phone is installing correctly when I plug it in, but the software still doesn't seem to see it.
In the Device Manager, the BlackBerry is showing up under Portable Devices. Double-clicking on it gives me the reassurring "This device is working properly." message.
The Com1 port is working properly also, according to the Device Manager.
Double-clicking on the device manager icon to get the properties shows that the Com1 port is "disconnected" -- when I try to configure it it just pops back to the disconnected state.
If someone has an idea or something I haven't tried I'd sure appreciate it!!

Okay, folks, after a 3 1/2 hour phone call with a (very patient) telephone support person at Blackberry, here's what I learned.
You can check your USB drivers this way:
Plug in your phone into your USB drive. Assuming your Blackberry is "seen" by your computer...
Go into the Device Manager on your computer (control panel)
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers item on the bottom of the list
Right-click on BlackBerry Smartphone and choose Properties
Click on the Driver tab
Click on the Driver Details button
You should see one driver. I saw two. The one the BlackBerry likes is the RimUsb one.
So here's what NOT to do: We tossed the entire driver that was the "extra". This effectively made using my mouse and keyboard impossible, as they are USB, and sent my poor husband into the basement to find a million-year-old keyboard (and then a mouse) with the old fashioned kind of connectors (PS2). Bleh. Don't do that.
Here's what I did that worked (not saything this will work for you -- this modifies the Registry so better do a system backup with that backup and restore if you're nervous about this sort of thing):
From the start menu, choose run, and type regedit to get into the Registry editor.
Follow this file path: Computer, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Class
Click on: {36FCE60-C465-11CF-8056-4445535400000}
If there's an item on the right called "UpperFilters", delete it. (see pictures)

Another problem is: When searching on the web via Google, normally it is possible to type a few letters and then look what appears and then click on the wanted word(s). A number of word(s) ineed do appear, however it is not possible to select any of them as ws possible as mentioned in olders versions.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Can't get ITunes to open-Error Message

My wife's itunes all of a sudden stopped working. It would not open at all. I deleted all itunes and ipod folders and files to include all quicktime. Restarted PC and downloaded itunes 7 from apple site. It still won't open and I get this message. iTunes requires Windows 2000 or later. Please make sure compatibility mode is disabled in the compatibility tab of the properties for itunes.exe. I checked and the compatibility mode is disabled, and it still won't open. Can anyone help me please?

yes i know its alot of steps but if you do them right it will work.
1.remove all active versions of itunes
2.then restart as it asks you to do, if it doesnt ask do it your self
3.unplug ipod
4.remove ipod software
5. restart
6.install the cd the ipod came w/
7.when it asks you if you want to upgrade itunes say yes
8.download the file
9.intall the newest version
10.restart
if you have done exactly these steps(exactly in this order)then itunes should be working now

I can imagine the frustration that you have experienced due to your applications not updating. Many apps need those constant updates to keep them working efficiently! Have you tested the connection on Wi-Fi to see if they will update? There is a setting that will cause applications not to update over the 3G network. Make sure Data Saver is turned off in the Settings.
Menu>Settings>Battery and Data Manager>Data Saver>Data Saver>Uncheck.

My 1st iPhone (3G) and can't get synching because of error message

I plug in to pc and iTunes has a message that reads:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.
My pc Internet and email works fine, so I don't understand 'connection' issue.

Just close itunes and open it up again. DO NOT disconnect your iPhone. Just close itunes, open it, and let it do its job.
This make take several tries.

CS - Can't get updates to work

I have installed CS (mac), but the CS2 compatibility update from 05 does not seem to work right. I install the update & all looks good, but when I open Indesign the next time & check for updates, the same CS2 compatibility update is there like I never installed it. I have tried to update several times, but no luck.

Hi there, this is my first post and apologises if it's not that clear.
We're having the same issue with the CS 3.0.1 update.
We've been through the update in the help menu and downloaded the 3.0.1 update directly from the adobe update page.
The updater says the install was successful but when opening InDesign CS again the update has not been applied?
Does anyone have any suggestions or a pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated?
