Can't get Verisign Signature validated in Acrobat

For the past six monhts I have been unable to get my Verisign digital signature validated in Adobe Acrobat. Just today, I renewed my Verisign certificate for another year. I saved the certificate on my hard drive using a password to secure it. When I certifiy a my signature on a document, the resulting signature icon says "...persona not valid" and the icon in the upper left corner (the head and shoulders of a person) has a question mark on it.
I am getting frustrated trying to figure out what's gone wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,
In order for a signature to be valid one of the things that must occur is the person validating the signature (in this case you) trust's the signer, or one of the certificates in the signing chain. From the Signature Properties dialog (where you found the text) click on the Show Certificate button. On the left side of the Certificate Viewer dialog you can see the signing chain. At the least it includes your certificate, and if Acrobat could build the chain it will display each issuing certificate up to the self-signed root CA. It usually best if you select the top most certificate in the listbox. Once you highlight the top most certificate click on the Trust tab. Click the Add to Trusted Identities button and then click the OK button on the confirmation dialog, followed by the OK button on the Import Contact Settings dialog. Finally you can click the OK button on the Certificate Viewer dialog and then the Validate Signature on the Signature Properties dialog. At this point you should get a valid signature, but it all depends on whether or not Acrobat could get valid revocation information. Before we go down that path let's see what you get when you revalidate the signature.

    Thanks for answer.

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes.
Acrobat 8 and later support all of requirements of PAdES such as serial signing, long term validation (time stamping and embedded revocation responses) and signatures in the PKCS#7 format.

  • Can't get Draw Signature to work

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and I have created a pdf for a test for the signature.  I go to Sign, Place Signature, Draw Signature and the drawing box opens.  I have tried using my finger and two different stylus and the only little bits (at best) of the signature are recognized.  Often times I just get dots.  On occasion, part of a letter is drawn, but never the full signature. I have tried it on two different computers and have the same results on both. Help please!
    Alan

Do you have a touch screen where you try to draw a signature? Which OS/Monitor? I do not have a touch screen, so I cannot try it myself. Perhaps you can draw your signature in a different app, create a JPG file (possibly password protected for security) and then apply it as your signature in Acrobat.

  • Can't get digital signature field to work

I am using Acrobat Standard.  I am trying to create a form with a digital signature field.  My problem is that when the PDF is opened with Reader on the same PC it works as expected.  Soon as it is emailed/moved somewhere else the box doesn't do anything, no ability to digitally sign or even type in that field.
So I am struggling with creating a PDF on one PC that needs to be digitally authorised by someone else on a different PC, using Adobe Reader.
I have been using Save as...>Reader Extended PDF
Please help!  Apologies if this something obvious and simple, this is the first time I have tried to do this.

Gerorge, thank you so much.  I have since upgreaded to Pro and am now trying to figure out how to use the digital signatures correctly.  I have sent out a test form and had a coworker complete, sign and send back but when I open up the form it says I have a signature error.  and then i get this pop up when I click on the signature
What am I doing wrong?  I work in HR and need these to be valid signatures.  Thank you so much in advance!!!

  • How can I get a trial version of Acrobat X on Mac?

I have downloaded an Akamai Dowload Manager but it downloads the version for Windows. Is there a version for Mac? thx

    Dave:
I use Acrobat because it necessary, and I didn't say I didn't like the Product. In fact for all intents and purposes it’s the only game in town to do all it does. Sure there are other PDF creating Programs out there for Mac. And I in fact own one but it does not hold a candle to Acrobat.  But The fact is That Mac users always get the short end of the stick.  What Mac Users want is to be treated equally. For example we are always having to answer questions in The Mac Acrobat Forum from people that need LiveCycle designer to finish a project. And yet we have to tell them they have to Buy a PC Or at least on Intel Macs Buy a product such as Parallels a copy of Windows and the buy LiveCycle Designer. Or have buddy let them borrow their PC.
Mac PDF can not create and work on XML Based PDF's.   We have problems with Office documents  converted to PDF's deviding along section and Page Breaks something that been proved is a defect in Acrobat. The list goes on and on.
Take it as you want to. I still use Acrobat and love it. But it frustrating to Mac Users That things PC Users can use Day to Day we can't do. and therefore we end up as second class citizens. To be laughed at because things that PC Users can do and take for Granted, we can't.

I can see you have a strong opinion against Adobe, which is strange given the time you send on their forums, and some of your analogies are far from appropriate in a public arena.
As I said above, the reasons for the decision to issue only a Windows trial of Acrobat are most certainly not intended to annoy or undervalue Mac users.

  • How can I get a refund for my Acrobat subscription?

I purchased an adobe acrobat reader that was not compatible with my computer via a one month subscription. I was under the impression that I should get a refund for that...however, I have not seen such action take place. What do I do in order to get this refund?

    Hi bailey8699,
I see that you purchased an Acrobat Pro subscription on October 22. If I had the power to cancel that subscription for you, I certainly would. Please Contact Customer Care. You'll find both Phone and Chat options when you click the blue Still Need Help button. A Customer Care agent will be able to take care of that for you.

If you have to ask what Dish Anywhere is, I doubt you would be able to help. We subscribe to Dish Network at home and they have a box to install on the cable box itself that allows you to get Dish Network on any device...cell phone...notebook/tablet...etc. It works on all devices except notebook which has Firefox as default browser. Now, mind you, on the same notebook, Dish Anywhere does work with Internet Explorer, but I HATE Internet Explorer....so...hence the question about why doesn't it work with Firefox? It's obviously a Firefox issue.

  • How can I get the previous version of Acrobat back?

The new DC version is **** and keeps crashing itself and the program I'm printing from when I print to PDF which has wasted too much of my time.  I'm using CC and can't see an option to reinstall a previous version.

Uninstall, and go here for previous versions of Acrobat Reader.

  • How can I get Cloud Downloader to know Acrobat was installed?

When opening Acrobat XI for the first time, the license page was blank. Without an approval on license it would only open for a second. So I used the Acrobat uninstaller in the hope of downloading again. Everything Acrobat appears to be uninstalled.
But the Creative Cloud downloader says Acrobat XI is still installed and will not let me download it again. The system is a clean install on MountainLion. Premier, Audition and Encore all appear to be fine. Any ideas on how to get the CC Downloader to recognize Acrobat XI was uninstalled? Thanks.

    Issue Resolved:
It was an incomplete uninstall. Went to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and noticed that the Acrobat 11 installer was still there. Clicked and finished the uninstall. Adobe Application Manager recognized the complete uninstall and was able to download and reinstall successfully.
