CAN'T get videos on my ipod although there on itunes.......

when i try to add a video to my ipod (30GB) it says that some files such as (name here) could not be copied to this ipod because they can not be played on this ipod what do i do??? im totally lost help anyone someone.. thanks in advance!!

First of all, are your video files .mp4 files? If not you can do one of two things. One, you can buy or download and conversion program, or two, you can cheat and do what I did. (If you run on windows xp)
1. Save the files on your computer somewhere. If it is more than one file, save all of the files in a new folder.
2. Go to my computer and find your files.
3. Rename them so that you know what order they go in (most of the time if you get the files off of a DVD you have somewhere around 50 files that say Titleo1_01Chapter01, or something like that) and make sure that at the end of the name you put .mp4 ex) The Phantom of the Opera.mp4
You may loose some of the quality, but since it will be playing on a small screen, you won't notice it very much.
4. Go to itunes and click on your ipod in the source list.
5. Check “Manually Manage Music and Videos”. (If you haven't updated yet, right-click on your iPod in the source list, and select Preferences. Then go to the iPod tab, and select “manually Manage Music and Videos.”)
6. Click movies in the source list.
7. Click file, and select "add file" or "add folder". This depends on whether it is a bunch of files in a folder, or one file.
8. Now the file/files should be appear in the movie tab. Drag and drop it/them onto your iPod.
NOTE: YOU HAVE SELECTED MANUALY MANAGE MUSIC AND MOVIES. THIS MEANS THAT YOU MUST EJECT YOUR IPOD BEFORE DISCONECTING IT. To do this click the eject icon next to your iPod in the source list.

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod I give up I'm bringing it back

I have the Black 30GB, after a week of trying iSquint , Handbrake ,Movies for my iPod and now MPEG Streamclip I still can't get videos in my iPod . I give up, it's scratched to bits and I handle it with extreme care . This was the worst $300.00 I've ever spent .

I had trouble with that too, but figured it out. Here are some things to check:
1.) Preferences in iTunes with the iPod connected. I put mine on automatic update of all podcasts, just to make sure nothing is missed.
2.) On the iPod, go to Settings > Main Menu > Videos > On
3.) On the iPod, got to Videos > Video Settings > TV Out OFF, Widescreen OFF, TV Signal (in US is NTSC, in Europe is PAL).
After I configured #3, all worked. I'm not sure the widescreen setting makes a difference, but I do know the TV settings do.
I think you won't have any problems if you go down this checklist. Too bad they don't mention it in Apple support.

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod , Ready to throw it out the window

I'm ready to throw this iPod out the window , I spent all day yesterday over 10 hours , trying to get videos onto my iPod , my iPod software and iTunes are up tp date , first I just drag and dropped them as MPEG no luck iTunes recognized and played them but wouldn't let me drag and drop them to the iPod then I used iSquint , it converted them to MPEG 4 , they transferd into iTunes and played but not the iPod I got an error that they weren't transferable and not recognized by the iPod .
I called Appe this morning and they were no help since I didn't get the Vid's from the appple store and since you only get one free service call ,and wouldn't tell me the format for the videos I didn't want to waste it . They suggested I buy Quicktime Pro .
Then I tried , Movies For My iPod . I used the transfer for iPod option , it converted them to .mp4.m4v . I drag and dropped them directly to the iPod no luck , they're there but wont play or show up in the iPod then I opened up iTunes and drag and droppped them into iTunes again played in iTunes not transfered to the iPod although it said it was updating .
Then ,I tried the custom settings file format MP4 , video format , MPEG-4 Improved , Image Size 320 X 240 QVGA , again I tried to drag and drop them onto the iPod still not there , now I tried to drag and drop unto iTunes , again they're there and play but won't show up on the iPod . I've pretty much had it .
In the Movies For MY iPod they're are some custom settings . File Format MP4(ISMA) In the Video there is an MPEG-4 Improved setting with a bit rate of 256 kbits/sec Image size 320x 240 QVGA frame rate 30 plus alot of other settings which I have no idea what they are .
Today I have 6 hours of frustration into this still no luck . I'm really disappointed with Apple ,I started out with the first iMac a Bondi Blue and have been working my way up , I have an iBook , an iMac Graphite , a G4 iMac a 15G 3G iPod now the 5G iPod . Apple should have included Quick Time pro in the G5 , and only one support call, come on , even Dell gives you a year of support .
And to top it all off the Black is beautiful but scratches easily , I'm a chef , my nails very short and allready it's scratched to bits by the wheel, I keep it in a case when I'm playing it , you can hardly touch it . I'm not very happy with Apple and this iPod , they rushed it out for the holiday , so if your in the jacksonville Florida area look for a flying iPod .

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
    1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
    2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
    3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
    4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.

  • Can't get videos to 60GB iPod Video

So a few days ago, I updated to iTunes 7.0 and Firmware 1.2. All my videos are in an MPEG-4 format, and now I can't get them to my iPod. They all used to play, but I restored it and now they won't even go on to the iPod. I've also got got it set to manage music and videos manually. I tried to use iTunes to convert it to see if that would help, but when it converts, the new file doesn't appear. And I've been looking back on other topics and it has mentioned the converter called Videora, so I checked that out, but it says it only supports Windows. So how do I get my videos to my iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod?  Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

  • I can't get videos on my ipod classic

hey sorry i'm quite new at this, but i'm having a little trouble with my ipod classic. i can't seem to copy video files from my computer to my itunes and then to my ipod. there's one music video that did get on my ipod but i don't know how or why it got there, and it's also without sound. would somebody please help me ?

This was my biggest problem when I got my first iPod (30GB 5thGen)... I thought that video's would just sync straight on there no probs, was I ever more wrong...
I got over this hurdle a few way's....
Mac: For mac you can download mediafork or handbrake, they will both convert dvd's and sum other files straight to iPod format... (although these take a while)... On a rare occasion I have got iMovie or similar,(depending on version of MAC), all you have to do is export as a Mp4...
Windows: Mediafork and handbrake both work gud,(but they take sum time), the one I found the best was Nero recode... It converts the video files "all" into .Mp4 ready for iPod viewing, it also puts your video's straight onto your iPod if connected...
There are sum other free converter's that will work gud, but the best ones are the ones you pay for... (unfortunately)

  • Can't find my videos on the iPod - but there in iTunes??

The music videos & TV shows I've paid for show up fine where they are supposed to on my iPod. About 1/2 of my video podcasts are showing up (Tiki Bar, DigitalLife TV, Diggnation (what a waste of space). Others show up under "Video" in iTunes, but are either not copying over to my iPod or I can't find them (definitely not under Videos). Also - a home movie in .mov is not showing up, as well as a Tivo file I brought over and converted to MP4. I can't find any consistency in why some videos are not playing on the iPod but do in iTunes. Any ideas??

Did you get any message when syncing your iPod that some videos couldn't be copied over? The iPod can play a subset of the videos that iTunes & QuickTime can. Although there are other details, basically it amounts to a maximum resolution of 320x240 for h.264 codec videos & 480x480 for MPEG4 videos. If a different codec or a larger size was used in the video podcasts you are attempting to copy, they won't transfer.
Also, the iPod puts the videos into various categories that match those in iTunes. You might want to check the Video podcast section in both iTunes & the iPod to confirm they match.

  • Can't get songs off my ipod onto into my Itunes

    Hello,
Recently my computer crashed and the hard drive was replaced. I had to re-install all my programs again including itunes. pretty much none of my music was backed up, but it is all still on my ipod. When i re-installed itunes, and i tried to connect my ipod to get all the songs back off and into my itunes library it is saying my ipod is registered with another computer. So when i first registered my ipod with this same comp it has somehow stayed like that, and i cant get it to register with the new Itunes i have downloaded since getting the hardrive replaced. Can someone tell me how i could cancel my old account and register my ipod with my new itunes? I hope this makes sense, I need some help please!
    Thanks in advance!

In the past I resorted to using a program called, iDump. It moved all my songs back to iTunes. Have you thought about one of those neat utilities that transfer music from an ipod back to the computer?

  • I can't get video on my iPod

    Hello everyone,
I am new to iPod so please bear with me. Anyway, I put a bunch of songs on my iPod and that is all working swingingly. I also purchased a couple of music videos and they show up in iTunes and work there but not on my iPod.
They are on the iPod, wel the sound/music and title and album cover are but not the actual video.
I have updated to the newest version of iTunes so I think I should be OK on that front.
I have tried several times to redownload--no luck
No matter what I try I can't seem to get the video to play--
    Any ideas??? Please help!!!!!!

You probably have your iPod set to manually update your music.
For some reason, iTunes will grey out the video options if you have it set to Manual.

  • Can't get videos onto new iPod Nano 3G

Ok i can not put any movie type on to my iPod nano not even: mp4 mov avi or other things...I NEED halp here people. Give me any method you can even converters but they can only be for mac. please i will take any response

I've been using (quite successfully) Videora iPod Converter and it works so well it blew my mind the first time I used it. Of course I'm a bit of a power user, but the normal mode is so handy I can't help but to use it. Not sure if it works on a mac though. I tried to look, but couldn't find anything that explicitly says mac.

  • Can't get videos on iPod

I got the iPod with video and when I first started using it, any videos in my library automatically would sync to my ipod. Well, I deleted a few videos from my library, thinking that when I plug in the iPod it would delete those few videos from the ipod. What I found is now that I have NO videos on my ipod although there are several in the library, and the Video and Photos tab in iPod preferences AREN'T THERE ANYMORE!!! I can't change any preferences in iTunes that have to do with video, and I don't know how to get the video functionality back, and get videos on my iPod! Any suggestions would be great...

I just wanted to let everyone know I found a solution. I could never reset my iPod with the iPod software on my main computer (with my library on it). I moved the iPod to a different computer and ran the restore function through the iPod software. It erased everything, and set it back to factory settings. Now, when I plugged it back into my main computer, iTunes worked correctly! I'm not sure what happened in the first place, but this is my only suggestion if anyone else runs into this problem. It seems to be a problem with iPod rather than iTunes

  • Can´t play video in my iPod

I didn´t find anything about my problem in any other topic.
I´ve bought an iPod video. I can put music, photos and postcasts on it using iTunes, but the video doesn´t work.
I´ve read that the correct video format is mp4. I downloaded a program called "Videora iPod Converter" that turns any kind of video into a mp4 file.
So, i´ve created a video called "siimpsons16x6.mp4" from a video file with ".avi" extension. I can play the new video in the Quicktime or with iTunes. But when I put the video in the iPod, although there is no error, something is wrong. I disconnect the iPod, but i can´t find any video file in it.
Can anybody help me? How put your own videos into the iPod?
Thanks, and sorry for my bad english...

After having spent EUR 130 on cables from apple, i still can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.
