Can't get Windows/iTunes to recognize new iPad2

Just purchased an ipad2 with iOS5. Am running Windows 7 with latest version of itunes (10.5 - verified today that there are no updates). I have 2 3GS iphones on the itunes (one recently upgraded to iOS5) - have been using for a few years.
When I plugged in the ipad to sync up with itunes for the first time, I get a Windows error that it cannot recognize it. Does not show up in itunes. I've followed all the steps in the Apple support. Even unistalled and reinstalled the Apple USB driver. Windows error says "This device cannot start (Code 10)".
Any suggestions???

Here's another forum that had the same code problem.  Hope it helps you.

    Hi
    Try
Right click My Compute / Select - Manage / Select - Services and Applications / Double Click - Services.
You should see in this list your mobile device which maybe name "Apple Mobile Device" or "iPhone Mobile Device".
See what it says in "Status" column. If there is nothing in it, right click on it and click "Restart"
Open iTunes and it should be recognised
If the status shows as "Started" come back and we'll try something else

  • My iPod is formatted for Mac and can not get Windows iTunes to recognize it. How do I format it for Windows?

I need serious help! I can not seem to restore my iPod to Windows as it is in MAC format. The windows computer "dings" when plugged in, but is not recognized in iTunes or computer. I have no problem when it is plugged into my MAC!!! PLEASE HELP, this is frustrating!

    Hey KitKattz44,
Thanks for the question. The following resource may help to resolve your issue:
iPod: How to determine your iPod's disk format
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1335
You cannot use an iPod whose disk is configured for Macintosh on a Windows-compatible computer. However, you can restore the iPod disk to use it with a Windows-compatible computer. To do this, see "Restoring iPod to factory settings." While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle.
    Thanks,

What version of iTunes are you running on your computer? You need to update to the current version.

  • AppleScript error with iTunes: Can't get window 'iTunes' of class pcap ...

Hi there. I'm working on a script that posts iTunes track names to Campfire based on the AirPlay device in use. I've been getting a "Can't get window 'iTunes' of <<class pcap>> 'iTunes' of application 'System Events'" and was hoping someone might see an obvious answer. The error pops up randomly. I'm positive there's a better way to check if AirTunes is the active device (maybe by seeing if the current playlist is a device playlist, and checking the source name?), but I don't have any way to test that.

As far as i know, itunes stores the artwork information in the same file as the music itself.
So if you configured iTunes correctly to use the library on your external disc, that should work.

    Past purchases:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some). Movies available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
Playlists, non-iTunes Store sources you will have to restore from a backup you made of your computer drive or rebuild from scratch.

Windows Media Player?  As far as I know, that won't work.  You need to install iTunes

That will install the software you need to use your shuffle with your computer.
